LOGINThe ruthless mafia don had taken numerous lives in his life, but he had never felt that certain kind of shaking inside his chest which he felt for a split second the moment his maid's four years old little child grabbed his shirt and looked at him with her big, wide grey eyes.
What was this? Luka could not understand anything, and before he could even process anything further, he witnessed Esme immediately taking her daughter's hand back.
She hid her kid's face in her neck, away from his gaze, and he believed it was because she didn't want his corrupted presence closer to her innocent child for which he could never blame her.
He was a cruel monster, whose closeness felt like a curse and he was completely aware of this.
“Take them back,” he said to Calix, who passed him a nod. After that, Luka took a brief glance at Esme and her daughter where he noticed his maid was tightly holding her child in her embrace and was not even letting her kid look in his direction, while her own gaze was also away from his.
Sighing, he turned around and walked out of that room.
After he left, Esme gulped down hard. Those few seconds had shaken her completely because in that moment….she felt like he was going to recognise Elea but fortunately, he didn't….or did he?
“This way, Ms. Hadley,” Calix said to her.
Exhaling a heavy breath, she followed Calix out of the room, carrying Elea in her arms.
……………
“I am so grateful that you and Elea, you both are fine,” Maeve uttered to Esme, who was caressing the head of her sleeping child. Elea fell asleep in the car when they were returning back to this manor, which now felt like nothing but a deadly curse to Esme.
“I told you to not think about escaping, Esme…” Maeve's words made Esme clenched her jaw. She turned her head around and looked at Maeve.
“So what should I have been waiting for? For that murderer to take my or my child's life here?” tears stung Esme's eyes as she recalled his blood stained hands and his warning. She just couldn't forget this. How could she even be?
She knew he took lives, so how could she deal with this thing with a rational mind? Just how?
“If Mr. Salvino would have wanted to harm you or your kid then he would not have given you another chance to live this life, Esme,” Maeve uttered. Her eyes were filled with somewhat hope but at the same time concern too.
“Like I had told you before, he doesn't believe in giving second chances but yet he has given it to you and I am sure, it's for the sake of your daughter, so please….” Maeve held Esme's hand.
“Don't do anything out of your fear. Mr. Salvino is not going to harm you or Elea, especially if you will obey his wishes,” Maeve pleaded. Esme looked at her, completely silently.
“And what if one day…his wish would grow toxic and more diabolic then?” And that question of Esme completely shut Maeve's mouth. The old lady was left with nothing to reply back now, and this thing brought an intense amount of fear to Esme because she knew….one day, he would definitely ask for something extremely unacceptable from her.
She could never trust that monster. If he could take lives so easily then he could do any kind of worst.
He didn't deserve to be called even a human.
Maeve's silence made Esme trail her eyes away from her. She looked at her sleeping daughter.
“Justifying and shielding a sin is no less than committing it,” Esme uttered and Maeve immediately understood what she meant.
Maeve sighed.
“You are absolutely right but not every sin is committed for the pleasure of the sinner, Esme,” hearing Maeve, Esme turned her gaze towards her again.
“Some sins are committed to shield the virtue of innocents,” Maeve said, peering into Esme's light beryl eyes which filled with confusion at her words because Esme could not comprehend the meaning what she was trying to tell her here, and before she could even ask Maeve anything further, Maeve's phone beeped.
Esme closed her mouth, seeing Maeve taking her phone out. She noticed Maeve’s facial expressions shifting a bit after she saw the message she had received.
Maeve sighed and stood up on her feet.
“Now take some rest. You need to wake up early in the morning tomorrow for Mr. Salvino’s wedding,” Maeve revealed and this shocked Esme. He was getting married? Tomorrow?
“All the manor’s staff needs to be present in the wedding hall tomorrow sharp at 8’o clock, so take some rest now,” saying that Maeve left Esme’s room.
Slowly turning her head away from the door, Esme looked at Elea.
Would his wedding bring some positivity in her and her kid’s life?
He was getting married tomorrow….. but to whom?
Only if Esme knew tomorrow who was really going to be the bride of the mafia don.
……………
Next morning, Esme woke up early, just like Maeve had told her, but Elea also woke up with her and started crying when the kid found out that her mother was going somewhere.
“No, mumma. I want to go with you,” tiny drops of tears fell from the kid’s eyes, who wanted to go with her mumma wherever she was going.
“Lea….baby, mumma is going to work. You can’t come with me,” Esme attempted to calm her kid down but she aggressively shook her head in denial.
“No…” Elea teared up more. The kid had barely ever stayed away from her mother, so she just wanted her mother to be with her.
“I want to go with you, mumma,” the kid started choking on her tears. Her face flushed red. Esme’s heart ached, seeing her child crying so much. She hugged her kid and caressed her back and head to calm her down.
“Lea…please don’t cry, my baby. Mumma will be back soon,” she uttered to her kid who continued to weep against her shoulder.
Esme trailed her eyes towards Maeve, who was standing in front of her and was staring at Elea with a visibly worried look on her face as both the women knew they were not allowed to take the kid with them to the wedding hall, so Elea needed to stay here with some guards and other house staff.
“Please, don’t cry, Elea,” Esme didn’t want to leave her kid alone, especially in this place but she was helpless here. She could not go against the words of the cruel owner of this place, who did not like kids and their presence around him.
The kid's cries turned louder.
“Elea, please baby. Stop crying….we….”
“Good morning, Mr. Salvino,” Maeve spoke out suddenly. Esme looked at Maeve and saw her gazing behind her, so she also turned her head around only to find him standing at the door, behind her, along with Calix, who was standing behind him.
His piercing grey eyes were already on her and her kid.
Esme swallowed. He hated kids, so she understood that Elea's cries might anger or annoy him.
What was he going to do now with them, especially with her kid?
The next chapter is updated....Enjoy.
Sitting on his chair, Luka was peering down at her lowered head, whose mouth had gotten completely sealed. She had not spoken a single word to him. Luka completely felt that nervousness prevailing in her presence, like he had caught her red-handed.“What do you suggest regarding this person and their betrayal, Esme?” He asked her and witnessed her exhaling a soft sigh in return.Slowly lifting her eyes up, she looked into his eyes.“If they are really relevant to you then you should try to give them one chance to explain themselves because we don't know why they chose to betray you if you both trusted each other a lot,” she replied to him in a gentle tone. He clearly and keenly heard her every word.Luka slowly bobbed his head and resumed his eating.“I will give them a chance to explain themselves,” hearing him, Esme felt like her heart found a little bit of peace. Like, he had decided to give that chance to her.“Do you trust me, Esme?” His sudden question startled Esme. She started
Like a statue, Esme saw him standing right in front of her. His eyes were already on her and they looked blank, empty and numb, unlike the other times when, even in his anger, the warmth from his gaze had never faded for her, so what had happened to that warmth today? What had changed so much in him? And why had it changed? For a brief moment, they both just continued to stare at each other. Esme's heart was telling her to get closer to him and to embrace him in his arms, so that she could feel his softness and his love, but this time, her mind was strictly against it. Her mind was holding back her body from stepping closer to him as it knew….this time, her heart was not looking like it was going to win. Finally, Esme saw him taking his strides inside the hall. His eyes were on her, so she understood he was coming towards her, and this time, his every step which was getting closer and closer to her, it had started filling her with more nervousness and a certain kind of fear, which she
“She was present in that hotel that night,” hearing those words of Calix and seeing that footage playing on the screen, Luka could not take it anymore.Growling like a caged beast, he forcefully moved his arms from one side to another, throwing every single thing on the ground, which was placed on the table, including the laptop. He clutched his hair with both hands and roared again. It was suffocating him. It was killing him. With every passing second, all the evidence was going against her and it was scaring him. It was terrifying him.“I have loved her so much. I have started f*cking loving her more than my own self,” Luka clenched his fists. He was feeling like tearing his own self apart. This fear, this pain, this anger was completely snatching his will to take even a single breath further more. What if she had lied to him? What if she had been betraying him? What if……Seeing his state, Calix felt extremely bad for him. He had never seen Luka breaking so badly. Calix had been wor
“No…Lea. Bad manners, sweety,” Esme said to her kid, who had started playing with her breakfast instead of eating it. She showed her big eyes to her kid, which made her giggle.Esme chuckled with her daughter too.“Okay now eat,” she uttered and the kid finally started eating.“Mumma, where is your phone?” The kid asked her mother again and Esme's smile faded because she knew why Elea was continuously asking her about her phone. She wanted to show her childhood pictures to her father but Esme knew the uncanny resemblance Elea and his sister, Laya, had…it could ignite that deadly question inside his mind, so for now, Esme was wanting to keep everything under control, not until this threat hanging on their heads would pass.“It’s in my room,” Esme replied to her kid.“Can I go and get your phone? I will show my pictures to uncle,” Esme tensed up more, hearing Elea.“No, you don't have to. I will show them to him on my own. Now eat,” she uttered. “But mumma….”“Elea….” Esme used her sli
Holding that album in his hand, Luka entered inside his room and saw Elea sitting on his bed. The kid was playing with the pillows but when her eyes fell on him, a big smile appeared on her face.“Uncle…” little Elea immediately stood up on her feet. Her bright smile brought a beam to his face too.Luka walked towards the bed where the kid immediately gave him a warm hug.“Good morning, uncle,” she wished him. Luka wrapped his one arm around her and patted her back.“Good morning, my princess,” he pecked her head.“Where is your mumma?” He asked her. “Mumma went out because aunty Mae was calling her,” the kid informed him. Luka sent her a nod, but then the kid's eyes travelled towards the album he was holding.“Is this a story book, uncle?” the kid asked him, excited, because she loved hearing stories. Luka looked down towards that album in his hold.“It's a book of photos,” he told her. The kid became more curious to know whose photos that book was holding.“Will you show it to me?”
“I killed all those six ba*tards with that same exact gun with which they tried to kill me…” he growled. Luka's eyes had completely reddened, along with his face which had been completely moistened with tears.Esme realised he had been breathing abnormally now, like he could not get a proper breathing. His whole body was shaking, especially his hands. His jaw was violently clenched.“And I didn't regret it, Esme. I will never regret killing those ra*cals, who hurt my sister so much, who killed my s…sister,” he grabbed Esme's arms tightly. His eyes turned more glossy.“I will never regret killing them. The only regret I have is that I won't be able to kill them all over again. I couldn't save my L…Laya from those monsters. She…died because of me,” he shouted. His grip turned extremely violent around her arms and Esme understood his pain had started overpowering him completely. His rational senses had started slipping away.“She d…died because of me. I k…killed her. I couldn't save her.
Esme saw him coming closer to her while keeping his gaze fixed at her. She thought he was going to say something to her but he proved her wrong by walking past her in complete silence.Esme turned around and saw him leaving.“Thank you,” she spoke out. His feet froze. Luka turned around and looked
Luka's car entered inside the manor's main gate. One of the guards opened the door for him and he stepped out. The guards immediately bowed in front of him.He had returned early today from his work because he needed to attend a so-called family gathering tonight with his wife, so he had thought abo
“Mumma….” Elea's voice took Esme out of her deep thoughts. She blinked and looked down where she saw Elea was trying to show her something in her poem book.Esme was helping her daughter in reading poems but her mind was completely filled with everything that had happened last night. What she had se
Esme's heart clenched in fear, seeing him bringing his mouth closer to hers, which made her tightly squeeze her eyes.“Please…no,” she breathed out, terrified. He stopped while their lips had gone so close to each other that they both could feel the warmth of their mouths tracing each other.Luka tr
