Until now, I wasn’t even aware that King Sven already had someone he planned to make Luna. Her presence only raises more questions. If King Sven already has a future Luna, then why does he want me to accept our mate bond and bear him a child? Why can’t he just let her bear the child he so desperately needs? I have a theory as to why, but I can't say for sure because King Sven isn’t entirely Fae. He’s a hybrid.

“News circulating the palace says King Sven has taken you as his personal slave,” K

KYLE’S POV.Helios turns his heavy gaze toward us, crossing his massive arms over his chest. “Alright, kids. Orion says to keep you alive, but he didn’t give orders saying we have to carry you so move along.”Katniss snorts, finally sheathing her sword, though her posture remains stiff. “We can walk just fine, giant. Just try to keep up. Some of us don’t have trunks for legs so I am pretty sure we walk faster.”The second werewolf, a younger guy with messy brunette hair, lets out a bark of laughter. “I like her. She’s got spirit, Helios. Can we keep her?”“Watch it, I’m not a toy,” Katniss shoots back. “I never called you one—”“Shut up, Toby,” Helios grunts, cutting him off as he turns around and begins to lead the way through the forest. They all speak with an accent like Orion. I think it’s a Southern accent.Katniss and the boy, whose name I have now learnt to be Toby, make faces at each other before they start to follow Helios. I follow behind, cautious, because I do not fully t

KYLE’S POV.“I should have known from your accent that you are not from here, and that you are from the South,” Katniss says, lowering her sword slightly.“Thinking does not seem to be your strong suit, so you are forgiven.”“I will not hesitate to cut you down.”“Oh, c’mon, I am just joking around.”“Well, I am not,” Katniss says, her tone suddenly dropping the bantering edge as her face gets deadly serious. She fixes him with a sharp, calculating stare. “So you’re the infamous Orion. The self proclaimed leader of the uprising from the South.”Orion lifts an eyebrow, clearly surprised she knows his title. “Word travels fast, even to an Omega who does not appear to think, so it seems.”“I’ve heard about you,” she cuts in, ignoring his jab completely. She sheathes her sword with a heavy click, turning her head slightly to glance around the dark tree line. “Which means I also know how brazen it is for you to be standing here right now.”I look between the two of them, my hands dropping

KYLE’S POV.“I’m indeed a lucky man to have found you. But you seem to be on the run,” he says, taking another step forward.I don’t back down. I match his movement, planting my feet firmly into the dirt and holding my fighting stance. “Let me guess, bounty hunters?” He asks.Bounty? I don’t answer.Even if I want to, I have no voice to. I don’t plan on giving the man in front of me an inch, and I can literally read the danger signs written all over him. I wonder if this is the werewolf whose scent Katniss picked up on earlier. Or what if he isn't alone?Ah, Katniss. I just hope she stays back. She does not need to get dragged into this.“No answer?” He stops walking, standing square in front of me. He crosses his hand behind his back. We are about the same height, and he tries to throw his weight around to intimidate me, but I refuse to give him the satisfaction. I hold his gaze, unblinking. “I will get straight to the point. I have been searching for you, so you can drop the stance

KYLE’S POV “Kyle, wake up! Please, wake up!” a hand shakes me by the shoulder. Even with my eyes closed, I can tell it’s Katniss voice. “I am begging you, please wake up. You cannot die on me.”Everything hurts. My head hurts the most though. It feels like my skull is being struck by lightning by the second. I try to peel my eyes open, but they’re heavy. My lids feel like they have boulders holding them shut. “Hey, come on, wake up,” Katniss voice grows stronger. “They could be onto us at any moment.”Onto us? Who?Slowly, I peel my eyes open and I am immediately met with the sight of the sun. I groan, squinting my eyes against it as I wonder what is happening because the basement has no window, so where is the sun coming from?Katniss helps me stand up as my vision slowly gets clearer. There are arrows around me, stained with the navy blue of what seems to be my blood. Yet, I do not feel like I am bleeding from anywhere. Besides, with that many arrows, I am sure I would be dead by

I stare at Eliana like she has just grown two heads, but I do not say a thing. Not yet.“He is waiting,” she adds. “Let me take you to go meet him.”Still, I say nothing. But the name finally rings a bell. Orion. It’s the same name Isadora had mentioned earlier in her conversation with King Sven. The representative of the Alphas of the South. I know why he wants to meet me; after all, Eliana had mentioned it during our last conversation. He wants to know if King Sven is indeed a Fae.I take a step backward, but my back collides against the wall, stressing my neck. My jaw sets into a hard line. “I am not interested, Eliana,” I say, my voice cold and flat. “I don’t care about your visionary leader from the South. I don’t care about Orion. I have enough monsters to deal with without adding another one to the list. Find someone else to play your games with.”I turn to walk away, but Eliana steps directly into my path, blocking the exit with a strong hold on my shoulder. Her expression is

The last time I was on my knees right in front of King Sven was the day Carter died. It’s a day that will forever haunt me, branded into my memory as a monument to my own incompetence to show how useless, weak, and incapable I was to save a poor, innocent boy. I was forced to watch as King Sven casually tore his life away. Yet, even as his life snuffed out, Carter had smiled at me. Those wide, terror-stricken eyes had tried to reassure me that he didn’t blame me nor Kyle. Most of all, I remembered the lone tear that had trailed down his cooling cheek.Carter is dead. He gave his final breath to protect me and Kyle, and I refuse to let that sacrifice become a footnote in King Sven’s tyranny. I can’t let Kyle be next.“Please,” I beg, the word cracking around my bandaged throat. Warm tears well over my lashes, spilling hot and fast down my cheeks. “I will do anything. Absolutely anything. Just please, spare his life.”King Sven does not budge. He stands there like a statue carved from w

I carry the now empty tray Isadora brought to me yesterday evening to the general kitchen. As I walk, the dread of seeing Kane again gnaws at me. His threat from yesterday lingers in my mind, and I fear I won’t be able to control myself if he touches me again. The thought of what I might do terrifi

The air is thick with the stench of blood. The acrid scent clings to my skin and to the very air I breathe. The crowd’s roars echo in my ears, a haunting reminder of Carter and his family's execution. I’m still standing, my body held upright by the guards at my sides, though I barely notice them a

Back when my brother, Kyle, and I were still pretending to be Omegas in the Shadow Moon Pack, there were only a few who showed us any kindness. Aside from the other Omegas who believed we were like them, the only person who extended even a shred of care—a hand of friendship—was Carter Katz, the you

Isadora laughs, but it's humourless. However, I'm left shocked by the fact that Madam Leticia and Isadora are related. Mother and daughter. “You don't look alike nor do you act like mother and daughter.”“I look more like my late father,” Isadora says softly. “I act like him, too. Leticia practica
