To say that she was heartbroken was an understatement of what she was feeling right now. She felt that her heart was taken out of her body, and someone put chili peppers on it and barbecued it. She felt she was dying of the pain, she was suffocating and was out of breath from all the crying.

She was now in a bar situated in the center of the city. This was her first time ever in her whole life to enter such a place. She had never thought that she would come to this place. She believed that wine or any hard liquor cannot solve problems, it would just give you more of it in return. But tonight, she had no choice but to drink all her pain away. She hoped that it would drown all her thoughts in the sea of forgetfulness.

'How dare he! Why did he let me believe that he loves me? Why did I ever believe your lies, Marco? How could you do this!' She thought to herself. She managed to drink three bottles though it was her first time. She was still crying her heart out but she managed to get out of the bar.

"I can't love you anymore, Marco. You were so bad… you were a pain in my ass! I hate you, I hate you Marco…" She was already drunk as she shouted. Many people passing by the road looked at her weirdly. They are already judging her how a girl like her could get herself drunk and shout at the roadside.

Her eyes were already puffing out due to all the crying. She was drunk and all. She was holding her car keys in one hand, encircling it and a bottle of wine in the other. She looked like a mess. She managed to see two white cars in the parking lot, and decided that the other was her car. She opened the backseat and entered it without hesitation. She thought she could rest first before driving since she was very drunk.

"Hey Miss, this is not your car. Please get out of the car immediately." Jawn Ng shouted, the chauffeur for tonight and also his private secretary. Jawn was very worried since his boss was not even talking and just eyeing the lady who just entered the car. They just came fifteen minutes ago and he already unlocked the car waiting for his boss to go out since he had a meeting with someone. But out of the blue, a lady went out of the bar. She looked drunk and she was shouting some words. She went in their direction and looked at the two white cars which were beside each other, then decided to open their door, entered and lost consciousness.

He nervously looked at his boss and felt like the temperature went to zero degrees. The lady was now fast asleep and his boss was just looking at her.

"Call Mr. Hue. Inform him our meeting is cancelled." His cold voice was full of authority. Jawn called the man to inform him of the cancellation as he heard the boss telling him to drive away.

William looked at her with tender eyes. He was surprised to see her coming out of the bar. For him, she still looked amazing though she was a mess. He heard her shouting like hating somebody. He could feel her pain, he could also hear her cries. That's why he didn't get out of his car immediately. He was afraid to see more of her. But like always, when you thought you had already avoided the inevitable, then you're wrong. She went directly to his car and slept there.

'Oh, Jacyn Lou. I've already avoided you for a long time, yet look, destiny is playing with us.' He thought. She stinked of alcohol. Looking at her puffy eyes, he wondered what happened and who hurt her. Whoever he was, he will let him pay for hurting her again.

Jacyn Lou lost her parents at the early age of twelve. She was the only heiress of the Lou Group but her grandparents sent her to City A. The reason for the tragic incident of her family was never learned up to this day. The true murderer was still out there. So her grandparents sent her to the other city and let the public know that all three of them were dead in that incident.

Jacyn was sent to her nanny's hometown, City A. Her nanny helped take care of her until she died recently because of cancer. Her grandparents took care of her in afar. They never let her feel that they abandoned her. She understood the situation and never complained about it. Losing her parents at a young age already taught her a lot. She also never cared about money. Of course, she wanted to be with her family but knowing that their life would also be in danger, she decided to cooperate in hiding her true identity.

Her grandparents thought that they hid her well. But he knew where she was. Five years ago, when his father finally decided to give him his position, he investigated the incident eleven years ago and found out that Little Jacyn was still alive. He really never stopped hoping that she was still alive. But that time he had no power to do so he waited for that time to find her. He looked everywhere for her and when he finally found her, her grandparents came to him telling him not to go to her. They asked him to cooperate with them, that this was the only way to protect her, not until they catch the murderer. He agreed because he also believed that their power, even combined, was not yet enough to find the culprit that time. The criminal, who was for eleven long years, was not yet found.

He agreed to avoid her for her own protection. He agreed though it's killing him inside to just see her in the distance, that he couldn't tell her that he knew she was alive. He couldn't even approach her to tell her how much he missed her. But now that she was delivered right in front of him, will he let her go easily?

'Jacyn, wake up'

'Mama.. Mama?' She scratched her eyes. Looking at her mom, she realized how much she missed her. She misses her every single day

'Jacyn, you have to be strong. Don't let mama be worried, okay?' She caressed Jacyn's head.

'Yes mom, I will but can you stay with me, please?' She pleaded. She was about to cry.

'No child, I must go. But you have to promise me that you'll be stronger, you have to be a fighter, Jacyn.'

'I promised mom. I love you so much, mom'

'I love you too, my baby.'

They hugged each other. Her mom wiped away her tears and then, a white light came and she vanished with it.

"Mom!" She shouted as she woke up from her dream. Her mom visited her again in her sleep. How she wished she could hug her again, how she wished she still had her. Maybe the pain she was feeling right now will be easily gone, or at least be lessened.

Her head was aching. This might be due to her drinking a lot the night before. She even couldn't remember how she went home. Oh, speaking of home, how did she get home? Panic struck her. She instinctively got her phone to her side table to see the time. It seemed different, where did she put her phone? She looked around, indeed she was not in her room.

"Oh my gosh, where am I? What happened to me?" She jumped out of the bed. The unfamiliar room was not like an ordinary hotel's room, she must be in a presidential suite of a five-star hotel. She looked around the room, no one was there. Her dress was intact. She breathed in relief as she saw her bag on the table, and her things were complete except for her car key. Where did she put it?

"What really happened last night?" She asked, blaming herself for drinking so hard. As the memories of last night came to her, she shivered realizing she went into another's car. She wondered if it's like those novels where a handsome man saved a damsel in distress? 'Then where is he, where is my knight in shining armor? He's supposed to be in the shower and when he comes out of there, I'll be seeing a hot body, right?' She blushed at her thoughts. 'Oh Jacyn, stop thinking of stupid things!'

Just as she was thinking to look at the bathroom, the door bell sounded following some few knocks. She braced herself as she excitedly opened the door just to be disappointed to see a short and nerdy guy in front of her.

"Hi Miss Jacyn, I am Jawn Ng. I am here to deliver you some clothes you might need. I also have something here for breakfast and some medicine for your headache. And oh, this is your car key. Forgive me, I have to take your key so I can go get your car. Anyway, your car is in the hotel's parking lot." He continually told her without giving her time to speak.

"Thank you for helping me, Jawn. How much do I owe you? I am sorry for any inconvenience I've caused you." She thankfully said to him.

"I'm not the one you should be thanking. I am just doing my boss' instructions," he said without emotion.

"Oh, who is he? Where is he? How can I thank him, then?" She wondered why he was not here if he really helped her. There is something fishy. And how did they even know her name?

"He just left for an important meeting. If you could wait for him till this evening, then you can thank him personally." He looked so serious. He might be good with his job.

"I can't wait for him that long because I have something to attend to. Can you extend to him how grateful I am with his help? I, Jacyn Lou, promised to pay him someday for his help today." She even raised her right hand to prove her vow.

He agreed to extend her thanks to his boss and bid her goodbye.

She looked at what he had given her. There was a beautiful, branded white dress and a lady's under garments. She blushed as she thought that the stranger even took time to buy her an under garments.

She also saw a bowl of chicken congee. There was a note on top of it saying, "For your hangover, beauty!". She blushed to be called a beauty by her unknown savior. She was famished so she gratefully ate the congee and drank some medicine to ease her hangover. After taking a bath and changing her dress, she decided to step out of the hotel.

"Why didn't you introduce yourself to her, boss?" Jawn asked him as they looked down at Jacyn exiting the hotel.

"Hmmm.. there's always a right time for everything."

‘See you soon, my little Jacyn!’ He whispered.

  • The Forgotten CEO   71. The Logistics of a Craving

The executive floor of the Lee Group was notorious for its brutal climate control. Designed to keep data servers pristine and three-piece-suited executives from breaking a sweat, the air conditioning hummed at a relentless, icy frequency.Jacyn sat at her desk, her fingers flying across her keyboard as she finalized the psychological profile for Director Song. She was completely in her element, her eyes sharp and focused. But unconsciously, she rubbed her bare arms against the chill, letting out a tiny, barely audible sigh as her stomach gave a quiet rumble.I should have grabbed that strawberry matcha pastry from the bakery downstairs, she thought idly, eyes never leaving the screen.Jawn Ng, sitting three feet away behind his privacy screen, didn't look up. But his ears, trained to detect the slightest variance in the executive floor's audio landscape, captured the sigh. He clicked a button on his internal communicator, his face a mask of solemn duty.Three minutes later, the froste

  • The Forgotten CEO   70. A Fracture in the Foundation

The morning sun over City B was sharp, cutting through the tinted floor-to-ceiling glass of the Lee Group executive floor with a deceptive, cold brilliance. To anyone looking from the outside, it was just another Tuesday. The stock tickers hummed, the scent of fresh espresso drifted from the breakroom, and the junior secretaries moved with their usual, terrified precision. But for Liam, the world had fundamentally shifted the night before. He sat behind his massive mahogany desk, his posture rigid, staring at the financial monitors. Across the screens, the Lou Group’s proprietary indicators were bleeding a subtle, creeping shade of red. The emergency injunctions he had ordered Uncle Chen to execute through their legal proxies had struck at midnight. By 4:00 AM, three of Wang Lou’s largest offshore dummy corporations had been flagged for predatory compliance audits. By 7:00 AM, his personal credit lines had been quietly suspended pending a "system security review."Wang Lou’s financial

Slowly, Jacyn pulled back just enough to look up into his face, her thumb lightly brushing the back of his hand. "You hold me like you're trying to shield me from a storm, Liam, but the storm is inside you. What did that message say?"Liam looked down into her clear, trusting eyes. She had sharpened her claws over the last three months, memorized corporate law, and prepared herself to face her uncle Wang Lou in the boardroom. She thought she was fighting a greedy relative for a corporate throne. She didn't know she was walking into a room with a murderer who had partnered with the very syndicate they were trying to uncover. He couldn't tell her. Not yet. If she discovered the horrific truth right now, the raw trauma would break her focus right before the final battle. He needed her to stand proud and unshakeable at that board meeting."It's just a final update from our legal proxies regarding the Lou Group's upcoming annual election," Liam lied smoothly, his voice effortlessly masking

  • The Forgotten CEO   68. Echoes of the Hunt

Three days after Xueqin Yan’s quiet departure from the country, the Lee Group headquarters was slowly returning to its usual, clockwork rhythm. The glass-and-steel monolith always ran on a strict diet of high-stakes negotiations, frantic typing, and the intimidating hum of corporate authority.Jacyn was back at her desk, stubbornly refusing to take any more sick leave and was currently finding her own way to cope with the lingering stress of her recovered memories. Perched right beside her mechanical keyboard was a small porcelain bowl of purple grapes. Every few minutes, she would toss one high into the air, tilt her head back, and attempt to catch it in her mouth.Thud. Another missed grape rolled across her desk.Jawn pinched the bridge of his nose, letting out a heavy, long-suffering sigh. "Miss Lou," he whispered sharply, keeping his voice low so the other secretaries wouldn't overhear. "You are currently sitting in the nerve center of a multibillion-dollar empire. Eat them norma

  • The Forgotten CEO   67. The Price of Remembering

The aftermath of the gala was quiet, heavy, and drenched in a dull, lingering pain that seemed to seep directly out of the villa's walls.Liam had carried Jacyn out of the hotel through a private exit, ignoring the flashing cameras of the press. He hadn't spoken a single word during the entire drive back to Lee Villa. His focus had been entirely on her—on the way her small hands wouldn't stop shaking, and how she clung to his jacket as if the fabric were the only thing keeping her anchored to the earth.Once they were upstairs, he didn't leave her side for a single second. He didn't change out of his clothes. He simply discarded his heavy tuxedo jacket, rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt, and sat in the armchair beside her bed. For hours, through the dead of night and into the gray dawn, he watched her fitful sleep. Every time she whimpered or flinched from the fading echoes of those phantom gunshots, his grip on her hand would tighten, silently reminding her subconscious that h

  • The Forgotten CEO   66. The Weight of Whispers

The atmosphere inside the mahogany‑lined walls of Liam’s private study was suffocating. While Jacyn slept soundly upstairs, exhausted from the emotional whiplash of her fragmented memories, Liam stood by the floor‑to‑ceiling window, a burner phone pressed to his ear.For a moment, he didn’t speak. His gaze lingered on the faint glow of her bedroom window above, the fragile peace he had fought to protect. Only when the line clicked alive did his voice drop into its cold, commanding register.“Speak.”On the other end, his head investigator, Uncle Chen, spoke in low, hurried tones. “Young Master, we managed to track down the retired forensic accountant who handled the Lou family’s estate liquidation after the accident eleven years ago. He confirmed what you suspected. The white van that chased her parents car was funded through a shell company registered in the offshore accounts of the Lou Group’s rival at the time—the old Han Syndicate.”A cold, lethal fury bloomed in Liam’s chest. His
