MasukLILY
My first day in Raven Academy was all I could dream of all night. Was this academy going to be like high school? I had a rough time adjusting in high school, and I don’t think I would fit perfectly in an academy for wolves. “Let’s get things straight,” Amber said, focused on the road. My eyes were outside the window. Raven Pack was still a mystery to me. How was a big city like this hidden from humans? “Lily? Can you hear me?” she called out. I turned to her, her eyes watching me through the front mirror. “Yes, I can.” “Good. First things first… stay hidden. Don’t cause chaos. Don’t try to act important or gain popularity. You have a big secret, and the easiest way to get your secret leaked is when you mess with the wrong crowd or a social bee.” I nodded. “Trust me, I’d rather stay hidden.” “Next, people will surely want to know about your background because you are my apprentice. Don’t say much. Just say you come from a line of stray wolves with no territory, and your family wanted you to learn medicine. That’s why you decided to take apprenticeship from me.” “At least that’s true. I actually want to learn medicine.” Amber didn’t say anything, and I just coughed to ease the tension. “I won’t blow our cover. I’ll stay hidden.” The car stopped, and I looked outside. I was amazed by the building. It was ten times bigger and more beautiful than my old high school or the college I was applying for. I stood in awe, lost in admiration, and I had no idea Amber had already gone ahead. I turned—and she was gone. I had no phone, so I couldn’t contact her. How could she just leave me here? “It’s you!” I heard a voice behind me. It was the boy from before—Sebastian and the other guy. Matilda didn’t respond when I asked if they attended Raven High. I guess this was my answer. “Aren’t you the girl from the woods? What are you doing here?” the other boy asked. “It’s an academy, isn’t it? I’m new here.” “You said you weren’t a wolf the last time I checked,” he added. “Of course she’s a wolf. If she isn’t, would she be here?” Sebastian scoffed at his brother, then turned and smiled at me. “I was only scared you would attack me—that’s why I lied,” I said. He didn’t respond. He just walked away. He had this look like he was irritated by my presence. Our eyes met before he left. His eyes were just like the ones I read about in novels—the ruthless alpha who hated everyone, who killed anyone who dared him, the one who never had a mate. His brother, on the other hand, was the total opposite. He had a calming and welcoming aura, smiling sheepishly at me. “So you’ve met my brother before? Interesting…” “It was a very awkward moment.” “We didn’t get to introduce ourselves properly when we first met. My name is Sebastian. My father is the Alpha of this pack, so I’m like a prince—” “We couldn’t introduce ourselves because you acted weird. Who grabs a girl they just met like that? That’s disgusting.” I frowned, still searching for Amber. Students rushed around, and she was nowhere in sight. I felt like a kid abandoned in a crowded place. “So you weren’t moved by my charm?” he teased. “Lily!” I heard my name behind me. I turned quickly. Amber was approaching with Matilda and a girl around my age. “I was searching everywhere for you…” Amber glanced at Sebastian, and he gave a little wave. “Sebastian, don’t you have a class?” Matilda asked. He shrugged. “Sebastian, can you excuse us?” Amber added. He stepped back and winked at me. “See you around, Lilian…” How on earth did he know my full name? Everyone just assumed it was Lily, like Lily the flower. Yet this boy, who I barely knew, got it right. I watched him walk away, still in shock. “Did he just call me Lilian?” “Your name is Lilian?” Matilda laughed. I nodded. “Did you know that?” she asked Amber. We both looked at Amber. She cleared her throat. “This is Anastasia,” she said, introducing the girl behind her. She waved. I wasn’t fast enough to respond, so I just lifted my hand and dropped it. “She will be your tour guide. The principal assigned her to you. And Matilda is your guardian—she teaches here.” “Surprise,” Matilda said, waving. I smiled a little. “Every Raver has a guardian, and she has been assigned to you. You can talk to her about anything and everything.” “When my mom was mated, she told her guardian first before her parents. That’s how important a guardian is,” Anastasia added. I didn’t care much about that. A human finding a mate? Impossible. I just faked a gasp. “Wow… really. Must be so cool.” I could swear Amber smiled, but she immediately fixed her face. “I’ll be off now. I have patients. Have a nice first day.” Amber walked away. I wasn’t expecting a hug, but the way she left still felt strange. “I’m going to leave you girls to catch up. Anastasia, please treat her well. She’s new.” “Don’t worry, Matty. I’ll try my best,” Anastasia smiled. After a short hug, Matilda whispered to me: “You’ll be fine.” I hoped I would be. “Hiiii Lilian!” Anastasia immediately linked her arm through mine. I tried to pull away, but she held on tight. “You can call me Lily,” I said. She nodded. “Noted. I see you’re close to Sebastian.” “Close? Oh no. I just met him yesterday. He seems like a troublemaker.” “Troublemaker, trickster, clown, spoiled brat… and most importantly, a playboy. Sebastian is a lot of things.” From the little I had seen, it made sense. “I see,” I said, following her toward the hall. She stopped and turned to me. “He’s a Class A wolf. Very typical of him.” “Class A? Is that like his grade? Is this like high school grading?” She burst into laughter, leaning on a bench. I rolled my eyes, unsure what was so funny. “Sorry. This isn’t high school. It’s more like what humans call college.” “Oh… that explains why everyone looks so grown.” I had noticed there were no 14–16-year-olds. Everyone looked like an adult. “So what’s a Class A?” “Okay. Let me explain. Raven Academy has several types of students. The kids from Alpha bloodlines, noble families—Betas, Gammas, and Lycans. These are Class A wolves. They dominate here. Top of the hierarchy. Untouchable. People literally make way for them.” “This is crazy,” I gasped, for real. “Then there are Class B wolves— kids from the middle class. Elders, warriors, scouts, healers, seers, teachers. They are respected and cannot be mistreated” Does that mean I was Class B? Only if Amber was openly my guardian. So what class was I? “If you don’t fall under any of these categories… then you’re Class C. They come from low-class families, normal wolves, sometimes omegas. Wolves with a weak bloodline, orphan wolves, late shifters, wolves who don’t fit pack culture, wolves considered… ‘defective.’ Like a wolf with an injury, a wolf who can’t mind link, a wolf whose wolf side is quiet, a wolf with a faint scent…” She continued, but I already knew. “ You look terrified ….i am a Class C because i haven’t shifted yet and my parents are traders …” She added “What happens to Class C wolves?” I asked, my voice unsteady. “Oh… it’s best you don’t know.” “I want to know. I am Class C.”Amber parked the car, but none of us got out immediately. We sat there for a few seconds, listening to the engine die.My heartbeat had become so loud that it almost drowned out everything else.Amber reached over and took my hand.“You remember what I told you?”I nodded.“Good.”Maltilda smiled at me.“No matter what they say in there… you are still our Lily. Do not break down.”I swallowed the lump in my throat.“I know.”The three of us stepped out together. The moment we reached the entrance, two guards approached us.“They’re waiting.”One of them pushed the large chamber doors open. The room was already full.Unlike the public verdict held after the festival, this one was quieter. Only members of the council, important families, and a handful of invited witnesses had been allowed inside.Even so… it still felt like every eye in the room landed on me.I lowered my head and followed Amber inside. As expected, my eyes first searched for Rex.He was seated beside his mother. He lo
Life in Raven had continued, but mine hadn’t. Ever since Rex left that day, everything inside me had gone quiet, even my wolf.I kept telling myself the same thing over and over.Move on, Lily. You have to move on.He deserved someone who didn’t begin your relationship with a lie. Someone who didn’t make him question every memory the two of you shared.I inhaled slowly. I wanted to be that someone, but I wasn’t.“I’ll move on.”The words sounded convincing, but I didn’t mean them, not one bit. My chest became so heavy so suddenly that I had to press a hand against it.“I can’t…”I whispered the truth before I could stop myself.“I can’t move on.”My wolf must also be curled up somewhere inside me, quietly carrying the same sadness. Our chances of being close to our mate were gone now.“Lily? It’s time for dinner.”Maltilda’s voice came from outside my room.“I’m not hungry.”“You’ve said that for three meals now.”I closed my eyes. I really didn’t have any appetite for food right now.
Rex hadn’t opened his bedroom door since he returned from Amber’s house, even when the room had become suffocating. He had all of Lily’s stuff scattered around him, just staring at them. The ribbon she had tied around his wrist weeks ago was still there. The half-written birthday letter he had hidden inside a drawer because he wanted to surprise her after the festival was also by his side.He had planned everything to be perfect, but all he could think about was the way she looked at him before walking away.“Maybe we should give each other space to heal from this.”Those words refused to leave his head.He sat on the floor beside his bed, his elbows resting on his knees while he buried his face in his palms.A knock came from outside.“Rex?”He didn’t answer. His mom had been knocking earlier, and now she was back.“Honey…”Paula sighed outside the door, still knocking.“I know you’re awake.”She leaned against the door.“You haven’t eaten since yesterday. You don’t even want to shou
Maltilda sat outside the house with a basket resting on her lap.The morning breeze carried the scent of fresh herbs through the small garden. Normally, this would have been one of her favorite parts of the day. She would hum to herself while separating leaves and roots for Amber before Lily came outside to keep her company.Today…It was just her, the following days had been weighing a lot on everyday and today was even a mixed of bitter and sweet , Amber still had to attend to patients even with everything going on , she had obligations to do so . She had gone to Raven Academy earlier today to pack her things while the students were still awake , she couldn’t bring herself to shed tears because she knew it wasn’t goodbye , it can’t be . But for now, she was just going to face the consequences of her actions, it’s not like she really had a choice. She carefully plucked another leaf from its stem before dropping it into the basket.A shadow suddenly fell across the herbs, it was a m
The festival had ended days ago, but the academy was still on break, leaving the halls empty. Most students wandered around the pack, talking about only one person Lily.No matter where anyone went, her name somehow found its way into the conversation.Anastasia was tired of hearing it so she decided to stay indoor until school was back in session. .She knelt in the small garden behind her house, carefully trimming the stems of her mother's roses. Gardening had always calmed her down. Today, however, she was barely paying attention. She had already cut one flower too short."...Oops."She sighed and dropped the scissors beside her.Her mother stepped out through the back door with a basket in her hands."You have a visitor."Anastasia didn't even look up."If it's another person coming to ask me about Lily, tell them I don't know anything.""It's not one of the neighbors."Her mother responded "I'll leave you two."She walked away before Anastasia could ask who it was.A few secon
I stood up before I could change my mind.“The only way we’ll know if Rex really can’t feel it… is if I face him,” I said.Amber looked up at me immediately.“Lily…”“He deserves an explanation.”Maltilda folded her arms. “A few minutes ago you said you weren’t ready.”“I wasn’t.” I swallowed. “But hiding from him isn’t making anything better.”“What if your wolf loses control the moment she sees him?”I looked toward the window. Rex’s car was still parked outside. He hadn’t left, I wasn’t going to let him just stay there and he had made it clear that he wasn’t going to leave until we spoke so it would be better if we just talked about it , there was no need to keep running from confrontation. “I don’t know what will happen,” I admitted. “I won’t know until I try.”Amber walked over and squeezed my shoulder.“If anything feels wrong, you come back inside immediately.”I nodded.“I will.”I took one deep breath before walking toward the stairs..How do you face the person you love aft
I didn’t say anything. Not because I had nothing to say, but because anything I said always made Rex even angrier. Right now, he didn’t look like he wanted to hear my excuses, so I figured it was better to stay quiet.“Didn’t I warn you?” he said again, still sounding furious.“I told you, we don’t
I knew I wasn’t seeing things. I wasn’t imagining it either. This was Baldwin. When I was in Centerville, I worked multiple jobs, mainly because I wanted to assist my father and because I was saving up for medical school. I juggled part-time jobs and high school until I finally graduated. After tha
I could only imagine what was going through Amber and Maltilda’s heads right now. It was already dark, and Rex still seemed completely relaxed. He lay near a fireplace he had made while I ranted about why I needed to go home immediately. He didn’t say a word to me. He just built his fire, lay down,
They say the best way to get out of a lie is with another lie. Ordinarily, I’d agree but right now? I couldn’t lie my way out of Rex’s trap. I had to come clean. Not like I was going to say the truth , I was going to pretend.…It’s different from lying.“I do not understand you.”“What do you mean
