LOGINSelena was frozen for about five to ten seconds before her mind snapped her back to reality.
“Lily…” she whispered to herself as she rushed out of the office, chasing after Elijah. Her blood was rushing and her heart was pounding so hard she could barely breathe. Elijah entered a room and she followed him in. That was when she saw her little sister. Lily was convulsing, her entire body shaking violently and her fingers stiff. Before Selena could even process it, Lily suddenly went still and the monitor beside her flatlined, a long, piercing sound filling the room. “Oh my god!” her mother cried when the woman ran in and saw what was happening. “Get them out of here!” one of the nurses shouted, but Elijah raised his hand to stop her. “No, they can stay. Just keep them back.” His voice was calm but urgent as he took control of the room. Before Selena knew it, he had grabbed something from the nearby tray. A nurse poured a white liquid onto it, and Elijah rubbed his hands together before shouting, “Clear!” Everyone stepped back and he shocked Lily. The machine continued to scream. Nothing changed. “Charge it to…” he said, his voice blending into the chaos, “Clear!” The nurses stepped back again, and he shocked her once more. “She’s in V-fib!” Selena felt detached from her own body as she watched everything happen in front of her. Her little sister’s heart had stopped. She was dead. They were fighting to bring her back, but from the way things looked, Selena could tell that nothing was going to be fine. And this destroyed her. She turned and walked out, the sounds of her mother’s wailing and the chaos in the room fading into the distance. Once outside, she collapsed into one of the seats in the waiting area, her eyes blankly fixed on the wall. Her heart was pounding and each breath she took felt too loud in her ears. It was like time had slowed, and not in a good way. Breathing was getting harder. The longer she sat there, the worse it became. She needed to leave. She felt like she was suffocating, like she was dying. Selena stood, but her head spun. The world tilted, blurred, and steadied just enough for her to move. She walked away from the waiting room, her chest heavy, her body trembling. The cold had crept into her bones, making her shake as her breath came out in shallow gasps. She needed to get away from her mother’s cries. They tore her heart apart. She needed to get away from that haunting, constant sound of the flatline echoing from Lily’s room. She needed to escape the sight of nurses rushing frantically, the smell of antiseptic, and the bond that tied her to Elijah and all its pain. She just needed to get away from it all. Outside the building, she broke into a run. And once she started, she couldn’t stop. Her legs carried her faster and faster until she shifted into her wolf mid-run. The forest blurred around her as her heart weighed heavier than a thousand stones. She ran without thinking, without feeling, her only goal was to escape the unbearable ache inside her chest. She wanted everything to go quiet. She wanted peace. She wanted to stop existing, even just for a few minutes. The wind whipped through her fur, her heart raced, her mind empty but full of pain all at once. Then, in a single blink, everything changed. She hadn’t seen the car coming. One moment she was running, the next she collided with the speeding vehicle, her body thrown violently across the road. Agonizing pain shot through every bone and muscle. She couldn’t move. Her vision darkened at the edges. After what felt like forever, her eyes fluttered open and she saw a man crouched beside her. She was no longer in her wolf form. Naked and trembling, she felt a blanket being draped over her. Her gaze stayed locked on him, her lips parting but no words coming out. His face was blurry. His mouth moved, but she couldn’t hear him. Then, slowly, her vision began to clear, and that was when she realized who he was. It was him. The Alpha of the pack. This was the first time she had seen him in person. But why was he helping her? Was it fate? A coincidence? Or had he been the one who hit her with the car? “I’m so sorry,” he said, his voice breaking through the ringing in her ears. “I’m going to make sure you’re okay. I promise you that.” Selena wanted to speak, but the pain intensified, spreading through her chest and limbs. Her vision blurred again, her hearing fading until everything went dark. She was swallowed by unconsciousness, with no idea if she was dying or if she would survive. When she finally woke up, she was in a bed. Someone was sitting beside her. The pain was still there, but it had dulled just enough for her to move. “Selena Crawford,” the man said, standing from his seat. “I’ve learned everything about you, and…” “Lily…” Selena sat up suddenly, her heart pounding. “How is she?” “It’s your little sister you’re worried about?” His tone darkened. “You attempted to kill the Alpha of the pack while he was driving, and you’re worried about Lily? Dear, your entire life is about to be ruined. And I will personally make sure of it.”“Are you sure that you want to do this now?” Axiel asked Selena, and she nodded as she opened her side of the car. He was not going to let her go alone, but he also knew his place. He knew it was not his fight. He knew that it was the Moon goddess who had chosen the omega to do this. But he just wanted to make sure that she was going to be okay. “Leon could maybe just be sleeping.” “I don’t know,” She replied, getting into the car. She sat down, fastened her seatbelt, and waited for the guy to get in. Once in, she continued, “I just have a bad feeling. I feel like something is wrong. And the goddess knows that I have procrastinated way too long…to the point that so many have died. I can’t keep doing this.”Selena knew that it was not really her fault, but she could not help but blame herself for everything that was going on, for the people who had lost their lives. She could not help but blame herself for how bad things had gotten. If she had just done what she was supposed to do fro
Pain shot through Malek’s back as he was lying on the floor, trying to recover from the hit. He had not expected to hit, and for the beta to be so strong. The guy was just a beta, so how was he this f*cking strong? He sniffled dryly and looked up to see the beta walking towards him with tears streaking down his face. He looked devastated, as if he had nothing to lose anymore. Malek quickly rushed off the floor, rolling to the other side as a way to give him a few seconds to get up on his feet and gain his composure. And it worked. As soon as he was on his feet, he did not even have time to process what he was going to do next, and Leon was already attacking him again. “Damn, man. Stop this!” Malek tried to get the guy off him, but it was so hard. He had already killed Cassie, and god, he felt awful about it. He did not want to use his full strength and power to hurt the beta. The least he could do for the blonde girl, who was now gone, would be to show some grace to Leon. But he wa
“No,” Leon said the word as his heart dropped to his stomach. He could not believe what he had just seen. His brain was still trying to register it, trying to decide whether it was a hallucination or if it was real. He felt sick to his stomach, and it felt like time had frozen for a few seconds. It felt like he had been shoved out of time itself, and his soul was just…it was just there. Floating in nothingness. He had never felt this way in his life before. He did not even know what to name the feeling. The beta did not even try to fight back as Malek did what he was doing. He allowed the guy to pull him back, his eyes still trained on the body of the blonde girl. He did not resist; he just allowed whatever was happening to happen. He felt numb to the bone. His thoughts were racing, and his body went limp. But all that faded away when reality came crashing in so hard. It was like a slap in the face. It was like he had been hit by a moving train. He could physically feel the pain.
It was quiet. The light from the almost full moon almost filled the entire room, lighting it up. Malek stood there, his heart thundering in his chest as he stared at what he had done. He felt sick to his stomach, and his throat had a knot in it. It was not like this was the first time that he had ended a life. He had done it so many times…more than he could count. But this time, for some reason, it felt different. Had he really been in love with the blonde girl? Had he really wanted a future with her? Or was all of this just in his head? Oh, god… he wished that it were. He wished that the ugly feeling of guilt and disgust would leave him. But it stayed, making him fear that it might do so forever. He stared at her on the floor. She was not breathing anymore. She was just limp. Her eyes were closed, and she looked like she was sleeping, but he knew that she was not. He kept staring at her, his mind going so many miles per second. He started to overthink…maybe he could have forgiven
Cassie had never been so scared in her life. Her heart was pounding in her chest, and she felt like she could throw up at any second. On her knees, she kept looking up at the enraged guy, begging for his mercy…because honestly, at this point, this was all she could beg for. She watched him as he paced the room in anger. Maybe he was going to let her go. Obviously, she would be punished, but maybe she was going to get out of this alive. And that was her goal. Gosh, why had she even come back here? She swore to herself that if she were to get out of this, she was never going to come back here until the guy was handled by the omega. Malek was trying so hard; he was trying so hard not to do something that he would regret. But the more he paced, the angrier he got. The blonde girl could have ruined everything that he had worked hard to do…something that he had been planning for years. She needed to pay for what she had done. Letting the omega go was a huge setback for him, and he hated
In that moment, Cassie was insanely nervous. She wished that she were not, then maybe it would be easier to try to convince the guy that nothing was going on. But she could not control her nerves. She took a few steps closer to the open door, her heart pounding hard in her chest as she plastered a fake smile on her face. “Hey, baby,” She said softly. “Is everything okay?” The guy scoffed, then he calmly turned off the water that was running in the sink. After that, he dried his hands on his pants and started heading towards her. He barely acknowledged her; he just brushed past her and headed to the bedroom door, proceeding to lock it. She gulped, and she could feel tears filling her eyes, but she tried her best to keep her composure. All she needed was to stick to whatever story she was going to make up. “Malek…?” She called out to him again. “I know that you hear me. Why are you behaving this way?” Malek leaned his back on the door and finally locked eyes with her. “Where were yo
There were a few cars on the road but after a few more minutes, close to half an hour, the omega was now driving up a hill and there were no other cars but the one she was in.Her eyes were sharp, and so were her senses as she made sure to keep looking around for any sign of the alpha’s sportscar.
A chill ran down Selena’s spine as the words of the alpha hit her. She swallowed hard, a bit taken aback. Yeah, she had thought that if the guy would have said anything like this, she would jump at it.But him actually saying it was something that had caught her off guard; she didn’t expect it.“…w
Selena closed her eyes instinctively and it felt like…it felt like time had stopped. It felt like they had been shoved right off earth and were now in their own little world; a place where everything was perfect. Even if that would be just a few seconds. His lips were soft and cold at first until
Cassie walked closer to the alpha, her eyes crazy and wild. “I just need you to be honest with me, please.” Her voice and tone was way different from her body language. She looked like she wanted to choke somebody while she sounded like she was being sweet and innocent. It was a trap, I think all o
