LOGINThe ride to The Oracle was kind of weird. There was an awkward silence in the car, at least that was how it felt to the beta. He was by the door, and he was very aware of his surroundings. He did not want to end up like Cassie. He would rather die than end up like Cassie…to end up fighting for a villain that he hated. He was at the back of the car, and so was Malek. The guy was not far from him; he was on the other side of the window. The guy who was driving seemed to be in a way. It was like he was being mind-controlled, and at the same time, it did not seem that way. Or maybe Leon was just overthinking. He knew, as the beta to the Alpha, that taking someone ordinary to the Oracle was the wrong thing to do. He knew that the place was sacred ground and that it held spirits and the aura of so many great people before them. He knew that at that particular place, the spirit of the Moon goddess was evident. And he knew that he was going to be punished in some way for what he was doing
With the omega chained up in the cabin very far in the forest, with so many protection spells that Malek had had some witches cast on the place, he was sure that no one was going to find her. And that she was either going to die there, or she was going to get her powers by some miracle and give him a real fight. But for now, he was incredibly happy with the way everything was going. Everything was falling into place, and his plan was blossoming. He was not worried about anyone finding Selena, and that was not just because of the witches, but also because she was a human right now. She had no real scent that anyone would use to track her. It was like the universe was on his side, and maybe it was. Maybe it knew the pain that was in his heart, and knew how much he had suffered…how much his parents had suffered before they had died. Maybe I knew, and that was why everything was finally working out for him. He was going to make sure that he was going to take over the pack, and was goin
Selena stared at the man’s hand for a few seconds, her heart squeezing in anger and in pain. She was disgusted by him. She knew that she should not stereotype omegas, but as far as she knew, every omega- even though they had all been treated like trash; nevertheless, they were all good people. Malek was not a good person. Yes, he had been hurt and traumatized, but that was no excuse for him. Everyone else in this town and around the world has been hurt as well. There were even people out there who had it worse than him. Yet, here he was, being the most evil person she had ever met. She was disgusted. And if she had her powers right now, she would have attacked him. She would put an end to all of this already and kill him. He deserved it. He had caused way too much loss in her life and in this pack. Selena felt regret in this very moment, because if she had stopped being so self-righteous from the very beginning… if she had accepted her role and stopped running away from her destiny
“Cassie…?” Selena called out to the blonde girl. But the more the omega stared at her, the more it was obvious that something was not right. Something was terribly wrong. “Cassie…” She said the girl’s name once more and then watched a very creepy smile spread across the lips of whoever that was now. Because that was definitely not Cassie. “Come on, Selena. We need to talk…” Cassie said in a totally normal voice. “It’s important. It has to do with Malek and the pack.” She took a step closer. Selena felt like the last thing that she was to be doing would be going down there to talk to the blonde girl, but at the same time, there was a part of her that was telling her that the time for fear had passed. Elijah was already dead. Vance and all the other councilmen were already dead as well. Maddox was in prison as well. And no one seemed to know what they were going to do to help the pack, even though it was her responsibility and not theirs. The point here was that everything was alrea
Selena was still sitting on the bed, trying to wrap her head around what she had just listened to. Was it real? Was any of this real? Or was she in a nightmare being tortured by her own mind? If only it were that, she would have been so relieved. She would have been so relieved because she would have known that it was all not real. But it was. It was freaking real, and it was her life. She had just literally listened to the last words of her father before he was killed by Malek. At first, from the very beginning…she understood. She had understood Malek. But not anymore. He was not a good person. He had been hurt and wanted vengeance, but he was worse than the very same people who had brought pain to him. Nothing could excuse all the awful things that he had done. She had understood him. But now, all she wanted to do was to end him. All she wanted to do was to make him pay for all the things that he was doing. He deserved to die…to suffer. But of course, the one time that she had fi
Selena had been discharged, she was home. And by home, it was not her mom’s house, she was back at the Royal Mansion. But this time, her mom, Lily, and Axiel was with her. They had moved in. And considering that the place had so many rooms and she needed all the help that she could get, this was great. The only downside here was that she was depressed, and since she came from the hospital, she had remained in her room. She had refused to talk to anyone, especially Beta Leon, because she knew that talking to him would mean that she would find out about more things that had gone wrong in the pack. She knew that she was being such an avoidant right now, but that was one of the only things that was keeping her sane at the moment. She had also stayed away from her phone, it had been on charge for hours and even though she kept getting so many notifications and calls, she refused to give it much of her attention. An hour later, she managed to drag herself from the bed, making her way ov
Beta Leon was not home; he was out on his morning run. He had watched the omega leave with Axiel for her training half an hour ago, and he was happy that the girl had finally accepted her role as the white-haired Luna. He was also happy that things had gone almost back to normal. Everything was n
The words of the alpha echoed in the omega’s ears over and over, and hearing them made her feel like she was levitating. She could not believe that he was saying them, and it made her panic a bit. She sniffled dryly as she took a step back. “I–”“You don’t have to say anything back,” He replied, h
A conversation later, Cassie was left in the hospital room. She called Malek later to pick her up, and she was waiting for him. But she had already been discharged. What had she talked with the alpha about? Well, she had done this whole act, making sure that he bought into the lie that she had att
Maddox still wanted to be pissed; he needed a place for those emotions to go. But truthfully, after hearing what his mom had explained, he sort understood why the woman never came back to the pack. “You could have at least had someone bring me to you.” His voice was soft and filled with sadness.
