Chapter 4

Tori's POV

I wasn’t telling him—or anyone. They didn’t deserve to know. No one cared. Alex would only want to keep me under tabs for his child, which was the exact same reason I didn’t want him to know. I didn’t want to see him again, ever. He had nearly ruined my mental health and my sanity. I couldn’t risk another heartbreak. Besides, he wasn’t worth it. He didn’t deserve to know.

The first thing that had come to my mind when Lily dropped the bomb was:

Tell him. Alex would be overjoyed. Maybe he would love you back.

But the image of his snarling face—filled with so much hate—flooded my head, and I thought better of it. He would probably keep me until I gave birth, then throw me out.

Not happening.

I stepped out of the hotel and drove to my company. Or rather, Alex’s company, which he had put in my name. At least it was the one thing I loved that he didn’t take away, and funny enough, it was only because I agreed to sign the divorce papers. I pushed open the glass doors and walked in.

It was the stares that made me feel something was wrong. Sandra, the receptionist, gave me a cold look.

“Can we help you?” she said, and my eyes widened.

Can we help you? This is my freaking company.

“Umm, you do realize you work as a receptionist here, right?” I asked, and she scowled.

“Yeah, I know that. And I also know that you are not my boss,” she seethed.

“What?” I exclaimed. “What are you talking about?”

“She’s talking about Alex handing over the company to me,” came Carmen’s voice behind me. I whirled around, staring at her in shock.

“That’s a lie,” I said, and she grinned.

“Well, it’s true. Alex handed over the company to me. Blotted out your name among the rights to own it,” she said, and I gave her my angriest stare.

“Liar. Alex told me if I signed the papers then I could keep the company,” I insisted, and Carmen laughed.

“You’re so blind and delusional, Tori. You thought he was gonna keep that promise? How naïve can you even get?” she said and tossed me a set of papers.

My heart shattered—again into a million pieces—when I saw the rights given to Carmen, signed and authorized by the bureau.

“Ta-da! The company is now mine. There’s nothing for you, Tori. No one cares about you or your beautiful face,” she said, and I nodded sadly.

“You’re evil. And one day, I’ll take my revenge,” I said.

She laughed hard—a cold, cruel, mocking laugh.

“Even the Moon Goddess doesn’t like you. Because if she did, this wouldn’t be happening to you.”

I smiled.

“Thank you for letting me know how evil you are,” I said, and she grinned.

“I am not evil, Riri. No one loves you, and no one ever will,” she said.

I growled. “I don’t need anyone’s love.”

“Of course,” she replied sarcastically. “So why don’t you get the fuck out of my company and go back to whatever slithering hole you crawled out of?”

I scowled. “I—”

“Guards!” she screamed.

I nodded. I could hear everyone laughing. I nodded again. Now I know my enemies.

The drive back to the hotel seemed longer. I had to stop, to try and hold myself together, not to give in to the tears. It had taken all my willpower not to let my anger rise to the surface and rip off Carmen's face. I wasn’t a violent person, but the urge to do that had been so strong.

I needed to forget. I needed something to drown my sorrows. I needed something to drink.

I drove to a popular pub I knew and parked outside. I just sat there, collecting my thoughts, having no idea that everything around me was already dark.

Evening. Perfect. Time to drink.

“One bottle of vodka, please,” I yelled, and the bartender nodded, disappearing behind the counter. He came back with a bottle in his hand. I snatched it from him and tossed him a wad of cash.

“Thank you—”

“Just go,” I growled, not even in the mood.

I tried drinking it all at once, but I gritted my teeth at the strong taste, so I resorted to taking it in sips. I could feel the drink relaxing my nerves, going straight to my head.

I kept drinking until I started to feel tipsy. Werewolves don’t get drunk easily—it would take an outrageous amount of alcohol to do that—and yes, that was what I did. I could feel stares all around me, and I couldn’t blame them. It wasn’t every day humans saw a strange woman drink fourteen bottles of vodka just to drown her sorrows.

I imagined how it must look and chuckled.

The door opened, and a very handsome man stepped in. The moment he entered, I knew he wasn’t human. He had this powerful aura around him—so powerful I could feel my wolf retreating. Which meant one thing... he was an Alpha.

He was so handsome that all I could do was stare. Even Alex seemed like a child compared to this perfection at the door. He turned to the barkeep and whispered something. I could feel the superior aura radiating off him.

He’s an Alpha. What’s an Alpha doing here? This isn’t your territory, mister.

Then he turned—as if he’d heard me—and headed straight in my direction.

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    I'm not into men

Chapter 61 Tori's POV Of all the things that had happened on that plane ride and since the time we got to China, this was the worst. Just like my first business trip to France with Alpha Lancaster, I also had to share a room-this time with Alpha Damian. And even though I wanted to believe that things like this were mere coincidence, I couldn't bring myself to. "What do you mean there's a mix-up in the rooms?" Alpha Lancaster asked, even though his own room was already checked in and he held a key in his hand. "It's none of your business. You can be on your way, and we'll settle this between ourselves," Alpha Damian said, his voice holding a promise of war should Alpha Lancaster do otherwise. But, as always, Alpha Lancaster didn't notice this slight change in tone-or maybe he just wasn't bothered-and pressed further. "It's my business as long as she works for me. I will not let you take advantage of her like that," he said. "It was a simple booking mistake," Alpha Dam

Chapter 60 Damian's POV I did not know what it was about her, but I knew I liked her. Not enough to foil my plan or ruin my chances of getting back at her, but it was enough to try to make sure she was not too hurt in the process. I had donned black shades and a hat as I sat at that bar, waiting for her to show up. Every minute that ticked made me feel like this was fruitless-that this was not going to work out. But with every doubt I held, I renewed my vigour with the anger of what Alpha Lancaster did to me: how he took what was mine away from me. "I never thought you would ask to see me," her voice finally came, making me sit straight and look at her. Of course. There she was. Alpha Lancaster's little bitch. "I heard you are trying to get back at him for picking his maid over you," I said smugly as she sat down. "You heard wrong. After you threatened me to stay away from him and not mess up your plan, I did a quick background search on you and I must say, I'm imp

Chapter 59 Tori's POV Things got pretty weird after that-from the glares that both alphas exchanged down to the awkward smile that Alpha Lancaster's date, exchanged with me. "Sure. Since we have both our dates here, maybe we can each take a compartment of the jet," Alpha Damian said. This was some sort of ruse, or a very bad plan to get me alone so we could have some space. But Alpha Lancaster was quicker. "Why would we do that? We all know each other, don't we? We can all share the same compartment," he said. "This is my private jet, and I will not allow myself to be uncomfortable in it," Alpha Damian said, his glare stronger now-a heated face-off going on between the both of them. "Well, don't flatter yourself. I have two private jets and you don't hear me bragging about it like a kid," Alpha Lancaster said. "Oh well, look who has two private jets and is coming to beg to be on mine?" Alpha Damian mocked. "Please! Both of you! There should not be arguments about

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Technical issues

Chapter 58 Tori's POV I had finally come to the conclusion that all alphas loved staying in extremely spacious houses, even though they were the only ones living in them. Alpha Damian's house was nothing short of impressive-from the blue and white home décor down to the velvety royal-blue cushions and tables. "Why stay somewhere so big alone?" I asked as I looked around in awe, my eyes catching sight of a pool just outside the glass windows. He shrugged. "I like having the option of sleeping wherever I like," he said. I could imagine just how scary it would be if I tried to consider such a living. "Are you hungry? I can make something quickly for the both of us," he suggested. I shook my head. "No, I'm fine. I had dinner before leaving the house," I said. He nodded, standing awkwardly for a while before finally grabbing the bag and heading up the stairs. "Your room is directly next to mine, so if you ever need anything, you can always holler out," he said.

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Going out with Damian

Chapter 57 Tori's POV The excitement in the voice of Alpha Damian when I finally agreed to go with him was unmatched. I could almost imagine him at the other end of the phone, grinning from ear to ear as though he had just won a lottery. Maybe this was not such a bad idea after all. I did need to do this for my own mental stability. Alpha Adrian was not the kind of man that would give me the peace I knew I needed. "Please, let's meet tomorrow at my place. You can sleep over, and then we can leave first thing the next morning," he said. It sounded like a solid plan to me. Like someone who was effectively making plans with me. "Sure, we can do that. I will call you when I'm ready," I said to him, ending the call and turning around to look at the shocked face of Alpha Lancaster. "We should get going. Kylian must be so bored sitting in the car alone, and let's not forget that he will be running late," I said, turning to leave, but his voice stopped me. So cold, so angr

  • The Rejected Luna Strikes Back    Damian?

Chapter 56 Tori's POV What followed that date was embarrassment. Intense embarrassment. I had somehow managed to reach my house, my keys jingling in my hands as I let myself in. I should not have gone on that stupid date with him in the first place. He was such a fine man, with his whole life put together. Of course women like that would be into him. Who knows if he loved her too? Different thoughts rampaged through my head as I switched on the lights, my back aching. With each passing day that the baby grew larger in my stomach, I could not wait for the coveted months to come so I could get it out of me. Nearly four months now, and my baby bump was still taking its precious time to become obvious. Not that I wanted it to be obvious. The apartment was just as I had left it: the lights switched off, coat on the hanger, Damian- Wait. Damian? I whipped my head quickly toward the couch, dread in my eyes as I stared at the nervous man sitting there, just watching me
