Adella's POV

I didn't want to be vulnerable. I never wanted anyone to know that I was just another weak human but the true nature of my identity made me emotional. All my life, I had wished to be that powerful wolf that everyone respects.

I wanted to be brave, powerful and a warrior just like my parents and brother. So, it was a shocker when during training I was the only one that couldn't meet up. Although most of us haven't gotten our wolf yet, they are stronger than humans.

At first, everyone thought I would adapt slowly to the training. My parents thought the same thing too. But after I continued to faint during training, it was obvious I wasn't a werewolf. But my pack always protects me during raids.

They don't let anything bad happen to me. Unfortunately, the one person I thought would get my back even if the world turns against me became the one that doused my light of hope.

Alder crushed me.

He made me believe I was worthless with his words and I felt suffocated. I couldn't take it anymore when my foster parents confirmed I wasn't their daughter and that I was a human.

So I thought, what's the point of going on if I would only face humiliation and suffering?

"Let it all out, princess. You are safe from all insecurities. I will never let anyone hurt you" my mother said, pulling me into her embrace.

I sobbed for a few minutes before I finally stopped. I was ready to tell them what happened.

" I… I was rejected by my mate" I stuttered, tears streaming down my eyes again.

"Who dares reject my daughter!" My father thundered, making everyone in the room except my mother shiver in fear. His eyes were fiery red as if it was filled with fresh volcano and the room suddenly felt hot… I meant extremely hot!

Was that the power of a lycan? Even our alpha doesn't possess such power. Yes, an alpha does have power when he uses his alpha tone but this was way too powerful. The walls around shook, I mean literally shook! I was damn sure that the effects didn't end here in this heaven-like palace.

"You are scaring her, my Lord," my mother said, drawing me close to herself.

Slowly, he withdrew his anger as his already protruding fangs sunk back in. His eyes changed back to pure silver. Yes, I forgot to tell you that my parents had this silver kind of eye that seems to shine.

"Sweetheart, you don't have to be sad. Unlike werewolves, lycans are granted the right to choose their own mates just like humans. It's very unlikely for a lycan to be fated with a werewolf. So, you don't have to worry about some measly wolf… you can get anyone you like as your mate" my mother explained.

Was that truly possible? But…I love him.

"Don't worry, I will look for the perfect partner for you. But for now, you have to focus on your training," my father said.

"Training?"

"Yes. You need to train to be a true lycan and my successor. Once you are better, I will train you alongside my right hand man" my father said, smiling.

As much as I wanted to be strong, I doubt that I could be a successor. What if there is a mistake? What if I wasn't truly their daughter or a lycan?

" You are my daughter. Our precious little baby," my mother interrupted my thoughts.

" You… can hear me?" I asked, surprised.

"Yes. That's because we are family. And you will be trained to open your inner mind too. You will have access to everyone in this kingdom. But they can't have access unless you let them to. Only the royal family can have access to each other" she explained.

Oh! That means I need to keep my thoughts to myself.

"Oh… don't worry. We won't invade your privacy and your father would teach you how to block your thoughts very soon"

Now… that sucks!

" Yeah.. it does" she said, laughing.

" Amelia, stop listening to her mind. You are making her uncomfortable," My father scolded my mother who just grinned.

I smiled unknowingly. I could see that my parents love each other so much. That's the type of mate I want. Would the moon goddess grant my wish?

There is one question though, I really want to ask them.

"How did I get lost?" I asked, looking at them. I saw my mother looking sad and guilty.

She started sobbing softly and I panicked. Did I make her remember a sad memory? But I truly want to know how I ended up in the werewolf pack.

"It's my fault. I should have been with you as a mother. I should have forgotten about being a powerful Luna and focused on being a mother," She said, sniffing.

I was confused. Wait, how could such a fragile woman like her be a warrior?

"I… I was one of the upcoming warriors when your father chose me as his mate. He promised to let me train before we start raising any children. But it wasn't as we planned because I took in on our first night. However, I was adamant to continue training when I put to bed" she said, a bitter smile on her face.

Then my father touched her," It wasn't your fault, Amelia"

" It was my fault. How could I leave my two year old child alone with a maid? I should have been there for you. On that fateful day, the maid left you in the garden to meet her mate. Being a very smart child, you wandered out of the garden into the nearby bushes and that's the last time we saw you" She said, crying.

So that's what happened.

" If only we knew you wandered into the werewolf pack, we would have come for you. But we searched every werewolf pack within the vicinity but we couldn't find you. Tell me, what's the name of the pack?" She asked, frowning.

" Blue Moon Pack" I responded.

"That's quite far. How did you get there on foot? That's impossible for a child to walk to" My father said, frowning too.

"Where am I? Is it that far from my pack?" I asked, confused.

"Yes. It is about six borders from here. I can understand that the river must have washed you over to our side but a baby walking all those miles? That's quite impossible" he analyzed.

Could it be that I wasn't their daughter?

As we were lost in our various thoughts, there were other footsteps coming in and a white bearded young man walked in with the most captivating smile ever.

"Your majesty, the DNA test is ready. Here it is, "he said, bowing.

"What's the result?" My father asked, looking anxious.

"It came out positive. It's a 99.99% chance. She is the lost princess" he said, smiling faintly as his eyes were fixed on mine.

One look at those eyes and my heart skipped but I ignored it as my mind was fixed on the result. It means I was truly their daughter and the future heiress of the Lycan throne of the kingdom.

A weakling like me? Would I be able to be the leader they want? That was the question lingering in my mind as I looked at my happy parents.

Would I be like them too?

Brooke's POV I sat on the edge of my silk upholstered mattress, a slow and deeply satisfied smile spreading across my lips as I watched the amber light from the hearth dance along the stone walls of my chambers. The memory of Adella’s spectacular exit from the grand hall was still fresh in my mind, her laughter ringing out like a death knell to her own political ambitions. My mother, Mabel, was pacing frantically back and forth across the thick rug, her silk skirts rustling with every sharp turn she made as she clutched a lace handkerchief tightly in her fist."We had an incredibly narrow escape today, Brooke, and I need you to understand exactly how close we came to absolute ruin because of your impatience," she said, stopping to glare at me with a mixture of residual terror and maternal fury coloring her sharp features. "The next time you decide to take it upon yourself to keep someone out of the way to secure your future, you will discuss the entire plan with me first and you abso

Adella's POVWhen we finally reached the privacy of my personal chambers, I helped her onto the plush velvet sofa near the hearth, immediately reaching for a soft wool blanket to wrap around her shivering frame. I knelt in front of her, my hands gently covering her own as I looked up into her pale, tear-stained face with a soft, reassuring expression."Did he hurt you in any other way, Tera?" I asked, my voice dropping to a gentle register that was reserved only for her. "Did Brooke or any of his men attempt to lay a hand on you while you were trapped in that outpost, or was it truly just the isolation and the restraint?"Tera shook her head slowly, a single tear escaping her eye and tracing a path down her bruised cheek before she managed to swallow the lump in her throat. "He only wanted to use me as a leverage against you, Adella, but the fear of what they might do to you while I was gone was far worse than any physical pain they could have inflicted on me."I squeezed her hands fi

Adella's POV I stood in the center of the grand judgment hall, the weight of the elders’ prejudice pressing down on the room like a physical suffocating blanket. I tried to speak, my lips parting as I prepared to force them to acknowledge the blatant hypocrisy of their ancient laws, but the Lycan King raised his heavy hand and cut me short before a single word could escape my throat."You have punished Brooke enough with your accusations and your display of anger, Adella, and we must look at the reality of what has transpired here today," Adolf declared, his deep voice rumbling through the stone rafters as he shifted his massive frame on the throne. "By the way, he has fully admitted to his crimes and has shown true remorse for his childish actions, so he will be placed under strict house arrest for two weeks in his quarters to retract his steps and contemplate the gravity of his errors."The sheer absurdity of his words echoed through the silent chamber, hitting my ears with such a

Brooke's POV The silence in the grand hall was heavy, pressing down on my chest until every breath felt like a chore. I looked at the polished stone floor, my vision blurring as the tears finally spilled over my eyelashes and ran hot down my cheeks. My voice broke completely, a ragged, desperate sound that I could barely control as I looked up at the dais where my future was being decided."I never meant to permanently break her or cause this kind of ruin, Father," I sobbed, my shoulders shaking violently as I clutched the fabric of my tunic. "I was only trying to find a way to get back at Sigil and Adella because they have been acting so smug to me ever since the voting concluded. I understand completely now that my actions were childish and foolish, but please believe that I did not intend for things to escalate to this level of disaster."My hands were trembling so badly that I had to press them against my thighs to hide the shaking. I could see the disgust on Adella’s face, her e

I could still hear the shocked murmurs behind me as I dragged Brooke out of the council hall. His arm was trapped firmly in my grip and no matter how much he struggled, I refused to let go. "Release me!" Brooke jerked backward. "Have you finally lost your mind?" I tightened my hold and continued walking. The guards lining the corridor immediately lowered their heads when they saw me. Nobody dared interfere. Nobody dared speak. Behind us, I could hear Mabel's frantic voice. "Your Majesty, you cannot allow this!" I did not stop walking. I knew exactly who she was talking to. A few moments earlier she had rushed toward the Lycan King and Queen as though she had just witnessed a tragedy. I had not remained long enough to hear the entire discussion, but my hearing was sharp enough to catch some of it. "She cannot simply assault him like this!" Mabel's voice had trembled with outrage. The Lycan Queen had remained silent. The Lycan King had looked at me for

Adella's POV I climbed into the carriage with my jaw clenched so tightly that it hurt. My emotions were all over the place, yet I forced myself to sit upright and maintain the composure expected of the Lycan Heiress. Just as the carriage began to move, one of the guards riding alongside us nudged his horse closer and lowered his voice."My lady, Commander Sigil, asked us to pass through the barren land before returning to the palace."I turned toward him immediately."Why?"The guard glanced around before answering."Traces of Brooke's men were discovered there, and one of the scouts also found a tag bearing the crest of Alpha Alder's pack."My stomach tightened."Alder's pack?""Yes, my lady."For a brief moment I stared ahead through the carriage window before nodding."Tell everyone to move at full speed.""Yes, my lady."The carriage lurched forward.Nobody spoke after that. The silence felt heavy. My mind kept drifting back to Tera.Every time I closed my eyes, I remembered her
