LOGINThe next morning, everything was ready. Lucas and the others piled into the big SUV, while I took my own car — the one Alpha Jacob had given me on my eighteenth birthday.
Alpha Jacob stood outside, watching us leave. “Everyone, be safe. If there are any problems, call me immediately. Update me on the training once you get there.”
“Yes, Alpha!” everyone shouted, starting their vehicles and waving goodbye.
He mindlinked me softly, “Be careful out there. Don’t hesitate to call me if you need me.”
“Of course, Daddy,” I replied through the mindlink, laughing.
“You’re a naughty kid, Zoe. I love you,” he said, chuckling.
“I love you too, Jacob,” I replied. “Take care while I’m away.”
As I drove out of Red Water territory toward Blue Mountain Pack, my mind wandered. How would James react when he saw me? And Zack… would he even recognise me? I wasn’t the scared, shy girl they remembered.
I glanced at Celeste. “Do you… like Zeus?” I asked, almost hesitating.
“How about you?” she asked. “Do you still have feelings for Zack?”
I didn’t know how to answer. Has he changed? Could I even forgive him? But deep down, I hoped he had changed… though the thought of betrayal still stung.
“Moon Goddess,” I whispered silently, “why must I suffer?”
By evening, we stopped at a small human diner next to a gas station. Heads turned as the pack entered.
“Check out those girls!” one human male whispered to his friend.
“Man… not just beautiful — HOT!” another said.
“I wouldn’t mind sleeping with him,” a girl murmured.
Celeste and I exchanged a look and smiled. Humans, we thought, mindlinking quietly.
We took a large booth. A young waitress approached, flirting excessively with Riley, ignoring the rest of us. Audrey bristled, ready to intervene, but I grabbed her arm in time.
Audrey and Riley were mates — nothing would come between them.
The waitress finally noticed the rest of us, and we placed our orders.
“Did she really not notice the rest of us?” Aria muttered.
“Calm down,” I said. “This is the human world. Look at us — we probably look like celebrities to them.”
All our packs boasted strong, beautiful warriors. We had nothing to prove here.
“So, Zoe… your old pack. Why did you leave?” Aria asked.
“I wasn’t happy there,” I said quietly, staring out the window.
“Why?” Ethan pressed.
“They didn’t treat me well,” I admitted.
Lucas smiled at me and winked. “Good thing you left. If you hadn’t… you wouldn’t have found me.”
The food arrived, and we ate, chatting and laughing.
“Do you know where we’ll be staying?” I asked Lucas. “We should call Alpha Jacob and update him — we can’t rely on mindlink so far from the pack.”
Our laughter died down abruptly as five men entered the diner. I instantly smelled them — rouges.
I mindlinked Lucas. “What do we do? There are humans here… we can’t start a fight.”
“They’re in human territory,” he replied. “Let’s observe and see what they’re planning.”
Three of the rouges approached our table.
“Look what we have here. Lost, are we?” one sneered.
“Just stopping to eat and fuel up,” Ethan said calmly.
“Ah, but we don’t want you here,” snarled another.
I rose to my feet, fury and authority radiating from me. “Rouges don’t get to speak to us like that. We’re in human territory, yes — but don’t think we won’t act.”
The oldest rogue laughed. “What a brave little pup. We own this diner.”
“You little…!” Aria growled as the rogue reached for her throat.
Lucas was faster. He grabbed the man, breaking his arm in a single motion. The rogue cried out in pain.
Everyone in the diner froze and stared.
“If you hurt her, your life ends. I am being considerate because we’re among humans,” Lucas growled, throwing the rogue toward his companions.
The rouges snarled, then quickly retreated. I squeezed Lucas’s hand, hoping he would calm down.
“If this were our packlands,” he said, “they wouldn’t be walking away.”
“Calm down. Let’s finish our meal, then head to the nearest motel and inform Alpha Jacob,” I said, settling back into my seat.
The motel had only four rooms left. Audrey and Riley took one. Lucas, Ethan, Aria, and I shared another. Fortunately, I had my own room — I needed time alone to calm my nerves before tomorrow.
I showered and lay on the bed, thinking about facing Blue Mountain Pack. The knock on my door startled me.
“Can I come in?” Lucas asked, holding snacks and a beer.
“Sure,” I said, smiling. “The snacks and beer are good.”
He stepped in, handing me a beer. “Thought you might need this.”
As I reached for it, my hand pressed against my chest.
“Zoe, what’s wrong?” Lucas asked, concern in his voice.
“OMG… It’s happening again!” I shouted. “I can feel him… Zack… with someone!” Pain radiated through me.
Lucas didn’t hesitate. He lifted me gently onto the bed, holding me close, and kissed me. Celeste stirred inside me, and the ache began to fade.
“Sorry… we should stop,” Lucas said softly. “I don’t want you regretting this.”
I shook my head. “No… stay. I just want to rest my head on your chest tonight.”
“Sure,” he said, stroking my back as we settled in. Together, we drifted off to sleep — Lucas, me, and Celeste, finally letting go of the pain for just a while.
The explosion of power swallowed everything. Silver light burst outward from Zoe like a star collapsing and being reborn in the same breath. It tore through the cave, through Morgana’s darkness, through the very air itself. For a moment, there was nothing but blinding white.Zack couldn’t see, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t move; all he felt was her, her power and her presence. It was overwhelming, but terrifyingly beautiful. Celeste… Zeus whispered, awed. When the light began to fade, the cave was… different, cracked and shattered. The ancient walls are barely holding together, and at the centre, Zoe stood, unmoved, untouched, and her silver eyes blazing like twin moons.Morgana was on the ground. For the first time, broken. Her body flickered between solid and mist, unstable, like her power had been r
The cave erupted into chaos, Morgana’s power slammed into the chamber as a storm unleashed—dark mist coiling, twisting, alive with malice. The silver barrier embedded in the cave walls flickered violently, struggling to hold against the surge of opposing force. Zoe stood at the centre of it all, unmoving and unshaken. Her silver eyes burned brighter than ever. “You will not take him,” she said, her voice steady, layered with both her own strength and something far older. Morgana laughed, the sound echoing unnaturally. “You think this is about taking him?” she sneered. “This is about ending everything.” Zack stepped beside Zoe, his aura flaring as Zeus pushed forward. “Then you’ll have to go through us.”Jacob and Lucas moved into formation behind them, warriors instinctively falling into place. The tension s
The barrier opened with a low, ancient hum, and silver light rippled outward as Zoe stepped forward, her hand hovering just inches from the invisible wall. It responded to her—recognising her, yielding to her—like it had been waiting. Zack felt it immediately, that power, old, scared and dangerous. “This place…” he muttered. “It’s tied to you.” Zoe didn’t answer, she couldn’t because the moment the barrier parted—Memories hit, not gently, not in fragments, but like a storm breaking open.Chains. Darkness. A heartbeat that shook the ground itself and her voice—stronger, colder— “I won’t let you die.” Zoe gasped, stumbling slightly forward. “Zoe!” Zack reached for her. “I’m fine—” she breathed, though her body trembled. “I just… remember more now.” Jacob’s expression hardened. “Then we move carefully.” They stepped inside, and the c
The forest still felt heavy even after Morgana disappeared, like her presence hadn’t fully left. Zoe stood quietly, staring at the space where the mist had vanished. Her body was still, but inside— Everything was shifting, her power, her thoughts, her past and now… her purpose.“Zoe.” Zack’s voice pulled her back. She blinked, her silver eyes softening slightly as she turned toward him. “I’m okay,” she said before he could ask. Zack didn’t look convinced. “You don’t look okay.” Zoe let out a quiet breath. “I don’t feel… normal.” James snorted lightly. “Yeah, no kidding.” Zoe shot him a look. “Not helping.” He raised his hands.“Just stating facts.” Despite everything, Zoe almost smiled. Zack stepped closer again, lowering his voice. “What
The forest fell into a suffocating silence; even the wind seemed afraid to move. Zoe stood at the centre of it all—barefoot against the earth, her silver eyes glowing with a power that did not belong to this time… or this world. She looked the same and yet—everything about her felt different.Zack took a slow step forward. “Zoe…” His voice was careful. Controlled. But inside, Zeus was restless. That’s her… but not just her. Zoe’s gaze shifted to him. For a brief second, something flickered, recognition, but it vanished just as quickly. “I’m here,” she said. Her voice echoed slightly layered, like two voices speaking as one. James swallowed. “Okay… that’s new.” No one laughed because this wasn’t something to joke about.Morgan
The night grew heavier, inside the Blue Mountain Pack, everything seemed calm on the surface—but beneath it, something ancient was stirring. Zoe stood on the balcony outside her Luna office, arms wrapped around herself as the wind brushed against her skin. The moon hung high above, brighter than usual, almost… watchful. She could feel it, something was coming, something that had been waiting for a very long time.Behind her, the door creaked open “You’re going to freeze out here. Zack’s voice was softer than usual. Zoe didn’t turn. “I like the cold,” she said quietly. “It helps me think.” Zack stepped beside her, leaning against the railing. “You’ve been doing a lot of that lately.” Zoe let out a small breath. “I don’t think I have a choice.” There was a pause.“What did you see,
The room smelled faintly of perfume and hairspray as Zoe stood in front of the mirror while Jessica circled her like a very focused stylist. “Stop moving,” Jessica said, holding Zoe’s chin gently. “I’m not moving.”
The hallway blurred as Zoe stormed through it, her boots hit the floor hard with every step, her anger pushing her forward faster until she reached her bedroom door. BANG! The door slammed shut behind her so loudly that the entire hallway probabl
The hall had fallen completely silent. Kelly stood frozen where she was, staring at Zoe as she had just been struck across the face. “Luna?” she whispered. The word seemed to choke in her throat. Zoe crossed her arms casually, her silver eyes cool and steady. “Ye
Morning came softly, for a long moment, Zoe didn’t open her eyes. She stayed exactly where she was, half-asleep, warm, and tangled up in Zack’s arms beneath the thick blankets. His chest was solid against her back, one arm draped securely around her waist, his breathing slow and even against her ha
