Clara's POV

The response to the piece was wide.

Not uniformly positive. I had not expected uniformly positive. There were dismissive pieces written by people who had decided the rebirth element made everything else suspect and wrote about it from the position of certainty that they had never experienced anything they could not explain. That was fine. They were welcome to their certainty.

What I had not fully expected was the volume of private messages that came through the foundation's contact

  • The Return Of The Discarded Billionaire Ex-Wife   The Next Design

Clara's POVA week after the piece was published something unexpected happened. The student. The twenty-two-year-old whose name had been on the stolen entry. He sent Eleanor a message. She showed it to me.It read: Miss Luther. I am the person who unknowingly submitted your work. I did not know. I want you to know that I have been in this program for four years and I have genuine work of my own that I am proud of. What my tutor did, using me as a vehicle for someone else's stolen design, has damaged my professional standing in ways I am still working through. I am sorry that your work was stolen. I am also asking whether you would be willing to speak with me because I believe the methodology you have developed has applications that I was genuinely excited about even when I thought I was seeing it with proper attribution. I would understand if you decline.I read it twice.“What are you going to do?" I said.“Meet with him," Eleanor said.I looked at her.“He did not steal it," she sai

  • The Return Of The Discarded Billionaire Ex-Wife   The Pattern Revealed

Clara's POVI called Priya at seven the next morning. She was already awake."Eleanor's competition entry was stolen," I said. "By a student connected through a grant trail to the Aurelius subsidiary that never dissolved. It won an international competition."“Evidence?" she said.“Complete," I said. "Timeline, technical comparison, funding connection, symposium recording with timestamp."“Who assembled it?" she said.“Eleanor," I said. "Last night until two in the morning."A pause.“She is seventeen," Priya said."Yes," I said.“And she built a complete evidentiary package at seventeen from materials she had been maintaining since she was fourteen."“Yes," I said.“Clara," Priya said. "This is not just an IP theft story. This is a pattern story. A man has been using vulnerable or ambitious people to attack your family for years. Mara. Callum Priest. Now this student. This is the story."“Yes," I said. "But I need Eleanor's methodology cleared and attributed first. The competition se

  • The Return Of The Discarded Billionaire Ex-Wife   The Price of Genius

Clara's POVYates made his move.I had been waiting for it. Every time I sat with the knowledge that he was still operational I had waited for it. The media platform was gone. Gideon had nothing without Mara's cooperation. But Yates still had money and he still had patience and I had learned never to mistake patience for weakness. He moved against Eleanor. Not directly. Cleverly. There was an international architecture competition for young designers. The prize was significant and the recognition was the kind that opened doors in the field for a generation. Eleanor had entered it in her second year of university with a project she had developed from the integrated methodology, a flood-resilient community center design that incorporated both structural and geotechnical principles. The results were announced on Thursday.Eleanor did not win.She called me that evening.“I did not win," she said. Her voice was completely controlled."I know," I said. "I saw the announcement."“The winnin

  • The Return Of The Discarded Billionaire Ex-Wife   Beneath The Surface

Clara's POVThe stabilisation work began in spring.Eleanor managed the project. She coordinated with the structural engineers and the grouting specialists and the underpinning team with the precise authority of someone who had been doing this work for years and understood every element of what was being done to every corner of her grandmother's house.Edmund was on site every available day. He monitored the subsurface changes in real time with his equipment and provided data to the engineering team that they incorporated into the treatment plan.On the third week of the project the lead engineer came to find Clara and me.He was a man of sixty with the specific unhurried quality of someone who had done difficult work for a long time and knew the difference between an urgent problem and an interesting one.“Mrs. Luther," he said. "Your children are remarkable."“I know," I said.“I want to be specific about that," he said. "In thirty years of structural and geotechnical work I have no

  • The Return Of The Discarded Billionaire Ex-Wife   The Survey

Silas's POVWe called Adrian immediately. He arrived the next morning with his own survey equipment and a colleague from the infrastructure council, a quiet woman named Dr. Pryce who specialized in subsurface geological assessment.Edmund walked them through everything. His four years of notebooks. The 1847 survey documents. The progressive settling data. His hypothesis about the hydrological network.Dr. Pryce listened and did not speak for forty minutes. Then she asked Edmund five questions. He answered all of them from his notebooks without hesitation. She looked at Adrian."The boy is right," she said. "The settling pattern is consistent with a subsurface water table shift. If the network is as extensive as the 1847 survey suggests, we need a full ground-penetrating radar assessment before we can quantify the risk."“Timeline?" Adrian said.“If the water table shift is climate-related it is likely gradual," she said. "We are not talking about weeks. Possibly years. But”“But we ne

  • The Return Of The Discarded Billionaire Ex-Wife   What Lies Beneath

Edmund's POVI missed a day at the program. Not a half day. A full day.I had not planned to miss it. I had been following a data thread that started in Dr. Marchetti's latest correspondence and had led me to an archive in the county records office that closed at five and I had not accounted for the distance properly.By the time I understood I was not going to make it back in time for morning registration the day had already started without me.I called the program. I explained. They were not pleased but they recorded the absence as authorised research activity because I had the documentation to support it.But I did not call home. Not because I was hiding anything. Because I was in the middle of something that required complete attention and the call home would have taken thirty minutes and I needed thirty minutes for the archive. When I got back to the program that evening my phone had forty-one notifications.Twenty from Eleanor. Twelve from Mum. Six from Dad. Two from Adrian. One

Silas POV"Good morning, Mr. Luther." Her voice was more lukewarm than the coffee she handed to me, easing out like an automated response from a machine rather than my enthusiastic secretary."Morning, Miss Moore. How was your night?""Fine, sir. And yours?""Well..."I kept up with the small talk
