SERAPHINA

My shaky feet carried me back to the bedroom.

My mind was blank—stripped of hope, of expectation.

Yet his words echoed relentlessly, final as a coffin lid slamming shut: I will arrange it.

I stepped into what used to be my haven, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe.

“Don’t feel, Sera,” Kia growled. ”If you have to feel, feel the need to survive and get us the hell out of here. Feel anger!”

My wolf’s words silenced Rexton’s voice. I moved quickly, almost like a ghost, through the room, pulling a satchel bag from the back of the closet and packing only what was necessary, even though I didn’t know where I was going.

“For a start,” Kia grumbled into my mind, “Far away from here.”

Crimson Moon Pack was all I knew, and as I stared at the engagement ring Rexton had slipped on my finger, hatred fueled my anger. He swore the ring was proof of our forever, but it had become evidence of his betrayal.

However, I didn’t rip it off in a fit of anger. Instead, I rolled it off my finger and dropped it on the dresser. I scooped up Celeste, who was still sleeping peacefully, inhaling her sweet, pure scent.

“You’re all I have left, baby…” I whispered to my sleeping daughter, determined to get her out of this toxic pack.

But I was barely fifty yards from the back gates, the satchel heavy on my shoulder, when the shadows ahead shifted.

"Going somewhere, Seraphina?"

I froze, breath hitching as I saw my dad, standing in the center of the path, his arms crossed. Beside him was Ethan,my 'brother' and within a second, Mom stepped out from behind a thick oak tree, her eyes cold and calculating.

"Move," I said, my voice barely a whisper. "I'm leaving."

"You aren't going anywhere," Dad barked, his Beta dominance flaring.

"Rexton doesn't want me! He has his heir! He has his human. I’m nothing to this pack anymore!" I screamed, the tears finally breaking through.

Mom stepped forward, her lip curling in a sneer. “How dare you try to run away? Your sole purpose is to remain by Alpha Rexton’s side, thereby protecting our family’s standing. You were brought into this family to ensure our proximity to the throne, not to go wandering off because your feelings are hurt.”

"I’m done being your political tool!" I tried to shove past her, but Ethan grabbed my arm, his grip bruising. "You can’t be this reckless! Our parents took you back from the orphanage—how could you run away after becoming Luna?"

Before I could fight back, Mom reached out, with a swift, practiced cruelty, she snatched Celeste from me.

"No!" I lunged, but Dad—scratch that—Rolan pinned my shoulders against a tree, the bark scraping my skin.

T-this… This craziness wasn’t what a family should be.

"Give her back!" I shrieked, watching as Elara cradled my wailing daughter with the same warmth one might give a bag of groceries.

"She stays here," Elara said firmly. "As long as we have the child, we have you.”

“Take a walk if you must, but forget about leaving, Seraphina.” Rolan hissed, signaling Ethan to let me go.

I slumped to the forest floor as they retreated towards the mansion, Celeste’s cries fading into the distance.

The silence that followed was worse than the screaming. I was shattered.

I couldn't go back in there, but I couldn't leave without my Celeste. The hopelessness was a physical weight, pressing the air out of my lungs until I couldn't breathe.

I didn't think. I didn't plan. I just needed this pain to stop.

“Kia…” I sobbed, seeking help internally.

That was all I had to say for my wolf to take over. The shift was violent, like an explosion that matched the storm in my soul. My bones snapped and reformed with a strange, terrifying surge of energy.

My familiar molten golden fur shimmered even in the dim forest light.

Kia broke into a sprint, not to escape but because she knew we both needed the adrenaline.

I became a golden blur, my paws thundering against the earth. Kia pushed faster, going further than we have ever been. We were oblivious to the markers at the border. Oblivious to the fact that the scent of Crimson Moon Pack was fading behind us.

Kia ran until her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird. She ran until the air changed, turning sharp and metallic.

“Kia—”

I tried to warn my wolf, but a jagged, sudden pain in my chest—the bond between my daughter and me—stretched out, shutting me up.

“We sh—should return to C-celeste—” I stuttered.

But before Kia could maneuver, her legs buckled, and she tumbled through the silver-tipped grass of a clearing I didn't recognize.

My body was forced to resurface. Naked, I shivered on the cold floor, my vision.

Blurring.

“Who is there…” A thick, confident voice rumbled after I crashed.

I looked up through the haze, failing to shield my naked body as my hands fell weakly to the side.

A man stood over me.

He was massive, dressed in dark leather with silver filigree.

His eyes were a piercing, unnatural silver. He knelt, his hand hovering over the golden strands of my hair, his expression shifting from curiosity to utter, paralyzed shock.

He leaned in, inhaling my scent, and his breath hitched.

"You..." he whispered, his voice trembling with a disbelief that made the air around us vibrate. "It can't be. Not after all this time."

"Celeste..." I wheezed, my fingers clawing at the dirt. I couldn’t be bothered about my nakedness as I tried to get back on my feet. "I have to... go back to my..."

"Stay still," the man commanded, his voice laced with a strange, ancient authority. "I am Kieran. You have crossed the border into the Lycan Highlands—”

Ly—lycan?

The word sent a jolt of terror through me.

I was in the forbidden zone.

I tried to scramble back, but my legs were heavy, like a rock pulling my entire body down.

He moved quickly, not aggressively, as he reached inside his vest and pulled out a clean silken napkin, kneeling before me without hesitation.

“You’re injured.” He murmured.

I shifted my gaze from his captivating silver orbs, looking down. My left foot was sliced open, likely from a sharp stone during the shift. Before I could pull away, his large, warm hand closed around my ankle.

The contact was electric.

A jolt of heat raced from his fingertips straight to my heart, a sensation so intense it made my breath hitch.

He began to wrap the cloth around my foot, his movements surprisingly tender for a man of his size. As he tucked the ends of the silk, his thumb brushed against my skin.

“T—this is unlike an-anything we have ever felt—” Even Kia gasped within me.

And I agreed. I had never felt this drawn to anyone. Not even Rexton.

It was as if my very soul was trying to leap out of my chest to meet his.

"I... I have to go," I gasped, the intensity of the feeling scaring me even more than the border I had crossed.

"Wait," he whispered, his grip tightening just a fraction—not to hurt, but to hold. "You don't understand what you are. That fur... that scent..."

“Thank you, but I really have to go,” I whispered, forcing my weight on my wounded feet.

I didn’t wait to hear any more.

Kieran’s POV

I didn’t sleep that night.

Her face haunted me—the way her golden fur shimmered, the fear and defiance in her eyes, that impossible scent that made my wolf tremble.

She felt… familiar.

And then, out of nowhere, she crossed the Lycan border like fate itself had shoved her into my arms.

There was no mistaking it.

At dawn, I stood before the King, my spine straight, my heart pounding harder than it ever had in battle.

“I may have found her, His Majesty.” I said carefully.

The room went deathly still.

The King’s silver gaze snapped to mine. “Found who?”

I swallowed.

“The lost princess.”

KIERAN~~I had been dying of thirst and navigating a desert for a month, but I didn’t realize it until I had a taste of her… My Ina. The taste of her was like– Damn! It soothed my entire body as cold water would do to a man who had been walking through a large desert for weeks. The second my lips crashed onto Ina’s, any remaining shred of my Beta control shattered into absolute dust. My Lycan, Alan, didn’t just wake up. He took the reins, roaring in triumph as he demanded every single inch of the woman pinned between my body and the wooden door. But I had to shove him down, selfishly taking this moment for myself. I couldn’t get close enough. My hands left the door, one burying itself deep into her disheveled, beautiful hair to tilt her head back and deepen the kiss, while the other gripped her hip, lifting her slightly until her core pressed directly against the hard, firm, and huge bulge between my thighs.Ina let out a soft gasp into my mouth, her fingers clawing at the neck

SERAPHINA~~Serena would never know how grateful I was for the initiative she had taken. I have been so worried these past few days. Completely terrified that I was losing Kieran, because anytime we sat down to talk, the topic always revolved around the kids in our care and how we would make their lives better. I thought that Kieran would soon begin to see me as nothing but his best friend, with whom he happened to share a bond. I mean, I didn’t even have his mark where it should be. So yes, I was happy when Serena kicked us out of the palace. I didn’t act like it, but I was overjoyed. Kieran and I said goodbye to Celeste and Arlo before we got into the car Serena had prepared for us. In her words, “You both need to save your energy. Let Pete drive you to the cabin.”I couldn’t help but turn red not because of the words he let out, but because of the ones she didn’t say… the ones she insinuated. Pete, one of the many drivers we had, began the journey, driving in silence, the

KIERAN~~It took a month after the witches' execution before Ina and I could allow ourselves to focus on anything aside from the plans we had for the young witches and wizards that Damon had officially put under our care. Although we haven't perfected the plans yet, we have finally figured out how their living system would be and how their home would operate. And that gave my mate and me the break we deserve more than anyone else. Ina and I hit the bed the second we entered her room after we dropped off the final plan for the contractors who would build the home we had designed. Despite the fact that we still hadn’t consummated our bond, it was the last thing on our minds as Ina crawled into my arms. We both slept off, snoring louder than our unconscious minds could process. And no, we weren’t living like friends… but we might have been living like colleagues instead of mates. Yet neither of us realized until Serena knocked on Ina’s door hours after we fell asleep but still

  • The Rise of a Forsaken Luna   207. Our Bond

SERAPHINA~~I tried. I pushed myself and even reminded myself of what these witches had done to deserve the punishment they got. I did everything I could. However, nothing could help me stay till the end of the execution. I wished I were one of those women who would personally cut off the head of the woman who had nearly slaughtered her child, but the second I realized that Lila was to be hanged, I turned my back on the execution ground, barely able to stop myself from throwing up. Without thinking twice, I left Damon, Serena, Kieran, and all other Lycans who were strong enough to witness the execution. My feet hurried away from the ground, but before I could make it to a safe place, I collapsed. My legs gave out, and before I knew it, my butt and palms hit the ground. “You should just kill us too!” I recalled the moment one of the oldest kids yelled after the sentencing. I recalled how I could tell that he meant every word, and when I turned around to look at them, I saw tha

KIERAN~~The desire to torture these bitches until they took their last breaths and crossed to hell didn’t just resurface when Jesse brought them into the hall. It doubled. Hell! It tripped when their leader smiled, holding my gaze. She was basically begging to be ripped apart by me and I almost got out of my seat to make her dreams come true. I was about to, but Damon’s voice stopped me, disrupting my heated hunger for revenge. “Please bring the kids in as well," Damon bellowed, stunning me. Ina inhaled sharply beside me, her eyes leaving my face as they flew to her brother, who was sitting on his throne with a stoic look that was completely different from what he had on when he was eating with Celeste and Arlo a few minutes ago. I didn’t know what to expect from Damon but I trusted him. Or I tried to as I looked back at the witches. Most of them were now protesting against having their young ones face trial. The smile Lila had on earlier had also fallen and even though I k

SERAPHINA~~I had a different plan for my first night back in the palace, but the night was spent differently. Kieran slept beside me, but neither of us made a move to consummate the bond or act on the yearning that had been growing within us for days. In fact, I couldn’t even sleep in. I woke up before the sun had even fully cleared the horizon, the weight of the upcoming trials pressing down heavily on my chest. Beside me, Kieran stirred, his large hand instantly reaching out to find my hip in his sleep, pulling me back against his warm, bare chest.Even in his slumber, his protective instincts were awake.“Shouldn’t you be sleeping?” He grumbled, his voice thick with sleep as he buried his face in the crook of my neck. He let out a low yawn as he caressed my hand as if to soothe away the worries latching onto my mind. “I can't, Kieran,” I responded, and quickly got out of bed like my whole body wasn't screaming in protest. That was how I began our morning and rather than qu
