Unwanted Knight

Outside, the icy air infiltrated my nostrils, making it hurt to breathe. The streets were still filled with people enjoying the nightlife of Austeen. I rubbed my hands together to keep the cold out, still searching for the men with my blurry vision.

Just then, I felt something warm wrap around my shoulders, pulling me into the same warmth I’d felt inside the bar. I turned and looked up at those hazel eyes once again. Apparently, it was the only thing I could make out from his face.

“Where do you live so I can take you home?” came the voice, sounding calm with a tinge of irritation.

Home?!

“I don’t want to go home. Just leave me alone, would you?!” I said, trying to pull away, but he grabbed my shoulders and spun me around to face him, making me stare into his eyes.

“Look,” he began, fully irritated now. “I don’t have time for this. Tell me where you live so my driver can drop you off.”

I went mute, staring at him.

Why was he mad at me? I never asked for his help. Why was he acting this way? I should be mad at him for interfering in my business.

“And if I don’t tell you where I live, what will you do, huh?” I asked, falling against his chest and feeling him wrap his arms around me to keep me steady.

I could feel his eyes roam over my face, then lower to my lips.

I gulped again. Even with the fogginess, I could make out his luscious lips. I should blame the drink. Yeah, it’s the drink, because I suddenly leaned in, brought my face dangerously close to his, and whispered:

“Make love to me tonight.“

Leah! I yelled internally at my boldness.

I felt his hands stiffen on my sides.

“Where do you live?” he said, slowly taking a step back as if I’d suddenly turned to hot coal. One of the bodyguards opened his car door for me to enter.

I felt my face stretch into a beautiful smile. I looked from him to his guard, then to the open door.

I smiled sheepishly again, turned to the car, and jumped in, laughing at the top of my lungs. I wasn’t in control of my body or mind at this point. It was as if another force had taken over…someone who needed a break. That orphan who wanted liberation from the hardship she’d faced right from childhood.

I watched him through the open window as he picked up a call. After a brief talk, he signaled to his bodyguard, who opened the car for him. He entered the passenger seat. Soon, the driver started the car and sped off.

I placed my head against the headrest, my eyes closed and a smile permanently pasted on my face, reeling in the rich leather scent and the fresh, woody smell coming from him.

I could feel his gaze shift to me from time to time, but I didn’t care. I felt so free.

They could be kidnapping me right now, or heading to butcher me, and I wouldn’t care.

We drove on for a while as I drifted in and out of consciousness. Eventually, we came to a stop. He stepped out first, and I think he signaled someone to come get me because the same bodyguard came and gently pulled me away, carrying me bridal style into the house. He took me to a room and laid me on the softest bed. It felt heavenly!

I sighed and pressed myself against the pillow, ready to drift off into nothingness when, all of a sudden, I was jolted awake by a sudden realization.

I had a task to achieve.

Grandma!

I immediately flew out of the bed, tripping and falling face-flat on the rug as dizziness swept over me. I held onto the bed and lifted myself off the floor, then staggered to the door.

I didn’t know where I was. I accepted that this was the worst plan I could ever have come up with in all my existence. Like, what was wrong with me?! I needed the boldness to do what I’d wanted to do. How could I achieve that if I couldn’t tell my left from my right?

I facepalmed myself and trudged forward, looking for my way out. I opened door after door in search of an exit, but apparently, the house was way too huge and had no obvious exit.

This went on for a while until I got really tired. I turned to the next door, hoping for an exit, but no. It was another room. The biggest I’d seen yet.

I slowly walked into the dimly lit room, my head reeling with different images and thoughts I couldn’t piece together. I started feeling dizzy again. I had to stretch out my hands and hold onto the sturdy bed frame for support. I then slowly slumped onto the bed, falling back against it.

My eyes stung with brimming tears. I felt a gut-wrenching pain grip the center of my belly, slowly crawling up to my throat and escaping in whimpers through my lips. I picked up the duvet and flung it over me, then bawled my eyes out.

I don’t know how much time passed. I must’ve drifted off because sudden movements jolted me back into consciousness.

For a moment, I forgot where I was. The duvet was twisted around me so badly, I didn’t know how to get it off. I began struggling with it, dragging and pulling it from different angles to free myself, but the devil wouldn’t budge.

“Get off!” I yelled angrily, opting to use my teeth and feet. Fortunately, I was able to get the evil sheet off me, throwing it as far away as possible before springing up, breathing heavily.

Just when I thought the craziness was over, I looked up and saw someone standing a few feet away from the bed.

Leah"How do you know Julian?" he asked, turning to face me the second we stepped into his office.I screeched to a stop, almost ramming my back against the door.“I just met him in the hallway.” He narrowed his eyes, his lips pressing into a thoughtful thin line.“Hmm,” was all he said before turning and walking further into his office.Just as he sat down, a knock came at the door and a man entered carrying a stack of files. I simply stood there, watching the confident stroke of his pen across the pages. The man I'd found that night had needed help, but this man, sitting behind his table, exuded nothing but control.Today was supposed to be the day I’d head out for a job interview a friend had recommended me for. Instead, I woke up, got dressed, and came straight to this hotel as if he’d been beckoning me.I couldn't get the image of his face that night out of my head. It made me toss and turn for two straight nights. On the second night, grandma couldn't take it anymore. She kept

  • The Shape of Destiny   The Trophy Son

LeahFrom the small glass panel on the restroom door, I watched the board members walk past in ones and twos. Most of them looked pensive. A few fumed past briskly, gesturing to their aides, while others muttered in heated voices about their displeasure. There must have been an absolute war inside that boardroom. The first person to exit had flung the heavy oak door open so violently it sent a loud bang echoing through the entire hallway. He had stomped out, cursing under his breath. That was why I had slipped into the restroom in the first place. I didn't want to get caught in the crossfire of whatever corporate bloodbath had just occurred. When the heavy footsteps finally faded and I was certain everyone had left, I stepped out into the corridor and made my way toward the executive conference room to meet Mr. Thorne. I could have waited in his main office, but I had no idea if he had other engagements that would keep him away for the rest of the day. Just as I turned the corner, I

Damien Their voices echoed all around me.I could see the faces of the thirteen board members, their mouths moving as they argued loudly. Those in support of me and those who wanted me removed."But it's been six years! He didn't cause the fire!" one said."Well, he was in charge of it. Now people are dead. Every year, we pay respect to the lost lives. The media remembers the memorial and puts us under public scrutiny all over again. We're getting hit every single time. Our stocks are plummeting!""Oh come on! We're hardly under public scrutiny. That's because he's been paying his respects. He's working, Peter! There have been new innovations. Our revenue has tripled. Don't tell me you don't receive the fat sums into your account, because I have…""We could make more if we stopped getting random hits here and there!""What makes you so sure another hand would do a better job?""Julian's jurisdiction is flourishing. Ever since he joined, we haven't heard any scandals, have we? Yet our

JulianI turned her around, bent her over the edge of the bed, and thrust inside her, groaning as her warmth and wetness enveloped me completely. Her soft, lush ass jiggled with every brutal snap of my hips, the sight tightening my already rock-hard member even more. She let out a tiny scream, hands flying back to grip my thighs, whimpering like a lost puppy.I leaned over her, trapping her heavy breasts in the crook of one arm, then slid my free hand between her thighs. My fingers found her center and rubbed hard, matching the fury pounding through me.She spread her legs wider, giving me more.I smiled against her shoulder. This was always the response. Bending people to my will was a gift. Making them do my bidding even when it required a bit of uh… physical persuasion, was my forte.Pleasure rippled through my body when they squirmed under my touch, my stare, my power. When they cowered at my name, when the memory of me carved itself into their nightmares, I felt like a god ruling

Leah "Hello…"I slowly pushed the door open, peeking through to make sure someone wouldn't rush at me with a knife."Why would someone rush at you with a knife?" It was as if my brain rolled its eyes when it asked this.“I don't know, maybe because the door of the owner of this hotel is open. And dark inside,” I retorted.Eish!I slowly walked inside, feeling the wall for the switch."Where the heck is it?" I muttered, cursing under my breath.Everywhere was pitch black, and my imagination was conjuring things I wouldn't want to experience in this darkness."Hello…oh, got it!" I finally found the switch and turned the light on.It was the same golden-yellow lights. They didn't illuminate the room much, but it was enough to see that it was empty.Did Mr. Thorne leave in a hurry? Was there an emergency? What happened with his brother?"You came for your bag, remember?" said my sassy brain.Oh, right. It's right there.I went straight to it and picked it up. On the table was my resignat

  • The Shape of Destiny   Why Me?

LeahThe office was a dark, luxurious room bathed in warm amber light.Black shelves packed with books lined the walls, and a wide solid wooden desk sat at the center, flanked by deep leather chairs. Above me, low-hanging golden pendant lights glowed softly, making the entire room feel powerful. And sensual."Please take a seat, Ms. Carter."I walked up to the visitor's seat and sat down, trying hard to calm my nervousness.I didn't know what to expect from this man. But one thing was certain: I wouldn't let him talk down to me or make me feel inferior."This belongs to you, right?" He slid what looked like an envelope toward me.When I saw my handwriting boldly written on it, I almost gasped. That was the letter I'd been looking for.How did it get to him?"You dropped it," he said, answering my question."Thank you," I said in the most courageous voice I could muster, reaching out to retrieve it with a fidgety hand I was straining to control."You're resigning?""Yes," I responded,
