“Anna, why do you suddenly want to resign?” the hospital director asked.

Anna stood in the director’s office. After crying the whole night, she had decided to leave everything behind.

“You’re the best OB-GYN this hospital has,” William said earnestly. “I even believe you could become the deputy director next year.”

“I’m sorry, Mr. William, but I can’t explain why I need to leave,” Anna replied. “Please… just approve my resignation.”

“Alright. I won’t make it difficult for you,” William said gently.

Anna smiled faintly and stepped out of his office. She was ready to walk away from the hospital for good. But before she could leave, William called out again.

“Anna.”

She turned. “Yes, Mr. William?”

“Please help me just this once. It’ll be the last time you work here. Mrs. Sebastian is at the hospital for her prenatal checkup. You’re our best doctor. I’m asking for your help.”

Anna froze the moment she heard Mrs. Sebastian. A title that should have been hers—yet no one else ever knew it. Her identity as Rendy Sebastian’s wife had always been kept secret, and Anna, foolishly, had never questioned it.

“Anna, please,” William urged. “They own the hospital, and they specifically requested you.”

Just this last time, she told herself.

“Alright,” Anna answered softly.

William exhaled in relief as Anna followed him down the corridor—unaware that she was about to face the woman who unknowingly held everything Anna had ever broken for.

The hospital corridor felt longer than usual. With every step, Anna’s chest tightened. Her hands were cold, her knees weak, yet she kept walking behind William. She had to be professional. She had to stay strong. At least this one last time.

When they reached the VIP room, William stopped.

“Anna, they're inside,” he said softly. “If you need anything, I’ll be right out here.”

Anna nodded, even though her throat felt dry. She drew in a long breath—a trembling one—and gently pushed the door open.

Inside, a woman was sitting on the hospital bed. Her hair fell softly around her shoulders, her beautiful face pale but still elegant. And beside her—

Rendy.

Anna straightened her back. “Good morning, Mr. Sebastian… Mrs. Sebastian,” she greeted, her tone professional, flat—too flat for someone holding back a storm.

Rendy’s eyes flickered with panic. His face drained of color.

Meanwhile, Lusi looked at Anna with a faint, knowing smile.

“I’ll begin the examination,” Anna said quietly. Her voice was calm, her hands steady—far steadier than her heart.

She slipped on her gloves, approached Lusi, and began the pregnancy check. Her hands moved on their own—precise, practiced, flawless—while her mind replayed last night: the drawer—Rendy’s drawer—photos—diary. Each image pierced her like a needle.

“Her pregnancy is healthy. Nothing serious. Just fatigue and mild stress. It’s completely normal.”

“Thank you so much, Anna,” Lusi whispered, smiling weakly.

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll excuse myself,” Anna said.

She turned to leave—only for Rendy to catch her wrist. The moment his fingers touched her, her whole body went rigid.

“Anna, I can explain,” he murmured.

Before Anna could respond, Lusi struck again—another performance, another piece of drama. She pressed a hand to her temple and let out a weak, trembling whine.

“Ah—Rendy, my head… it hurts.”

Without a single word to Anna, Rendy rushed to her side.

Anna didn’t wait to watch the rest. She stepped out of the VIP room, the door closing behind her with a quiet click that echoed louder than any shout. Her decision had crystallized—sharp, clear, and irrevocable.

“Get some rest,” Rendy said softly, making sure Anna had truly walked away before he turned back.

“You really do love Anna, don’t you?” Lusi teased, her voice light but probing.

“Don’t overthink it. Just focus on our baby for now,” Rendy replied.

“You really consider this child yours, Rendy?” Lusi asked, watching him closely.

He answered with a firm nod.

A notification chimed, slicing through the air. Rendy reached for his phone on the cabinet, his brows instantly furrowing at what he saw.

Lusi, still lounging on the bed, tilted her head with a playful smile. “What is it, Ren?” she asked, noticing the flicker of shock on his face.

Rendy swallowed hard and lifted his gaze.

“It’s… from the lawyer,” he murmured.

Lusi frowned. “Lawyer? What for?”

“Anna… filed for divorce.”

Lusi shot upright, eyes gleaming. “Are you serious? She finally came to her senses?”

Rendy said nothing. There was surprise in his expression—but also something else. Relief. Too much relief.

A voice message from the lawyer played clearly:

“Mr. Rendy, we’ve received the divorce documents from Mrs. Anna. She isn’t requesting assets, residence rights, or any form of compensation. We can proceed immediately.”

Lusi let out a delighted laugh, covering her mouth as if she couldn’t contain her joy. “Finally, Ren! You don’t have to pretend to be happy anymore!”

Rendy rubbed his forehead, but a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. “I… didn’t think she’d make it this easy,” he said quietly. “She didn’t even ask for anything. Not the house, not a single cent—when in the previous agreement she was supposed to receive thirty percent of my assets.”

“She’s stupid, Rendy,” Lusi said bluntly.

Rendy didn’t argue.

Lusi scooted closer, her hand sliding into his. “But now everything’s settled. You’re free, Rendy.” Her smile widened. “My child won’t be born without a father, and my career is safe.”

Rendy clasped her hand—tighter than necessary.

“We’ll get married soon.” The words left his lips far too easily.

And right outside the VIP room door… Anna stood frozen.

Her hand, still clutching the medical folder, trembled violently. Her breath hitched in broken, uneven pulls.

She hadn’t meant to listen. But the door, left slightly ajar, spilled every word into the hallway like blades piercing straight into her chest. She hadn’t left the floor yet—and now she had heard everything with brutal clarity.

Inside the room, Lusi continued, her voice sugary with triumph.

“You know, Rendy? I always felt bad for you,” she said. “Having to pretend to be a good husband when it was obvious you weren’t happy with her.”

Rendy dragged a hand down his face but didn’t deny it.

“Anna is just… too naïve,” Lusi added. “She actually thought you cared about her.”

“Lusi.” Rendy tried to hush her, though even he couldn’t hide the spark of happiness in his tone. “Don’t be too harsh.”

“Why not? She’s not here. Besides, no one ever even knew she was your wife.” Lusi chuckled.

Anna’s teeth sank into her lower lip—hard—maybe to stop the sob that threatened to rip out of her chest.

Tears streamed down her face, unstoppable.

It was already late when the car carrying Anna pulled into the mansion's driveway. The night sky was dark, illuminated only by the rows of garden lights lining the path to the front entrance.Anna stepped out of the car, rubbing the back of her neck tiredly. Today had felt more exhausting than usual. The moment she entered the house, Maria was already waiting, as always, to greet her.“Good evening, Ma'am,” Maria said politely.Anna gave a small nod.Without realizing it, her gaze swept across the room as though searching for someone.“Has Liam come home yet?” she asked. Her eyes briefly flicked to the large clock hanging in the main hall.Ten o'clock at night.Normally, Liam would already be home by this hour.“I'm sorry, Ma'am,” Maria replied carefully. “Mr. Liam left for a business trip this afternoon.”Anna's steps came to an abrupt halt. For a moment, she simply stood there.“A business trip?” she repeated quietly.“Yes, Ma'am.”“How long will he be gone?”Maria hesitated.“I'm n

“Anna.” The sound of her name made Anna turn around. Her brows immediately furrowed when she saw Rendy walking toward her, a bouquet of roses in hand that stood out conspicuously in the middle of the busy hospital corridor. “Happy birthday, Anna,” Rendy said with a smile that looked painfully forced. Anna glanced at the flowers for a brief second before clicking her tongue in annoyance. “Don't waste my time. I still have plenty of patients to take care of,” she said coldly and turned to leave. Before she could get far, however, Rendy quickly caught her wrist. “Just a minute, Anna.” He opened the black velvet box he had been holding. Inside lay an exquisite necklace with a blood-red gemstone pendant that gleamed beneath the hospital lights. “This is the Crimson Heart you've wanted since last year,” he said confidently. Anna stopped walking. She stared at the necklace for a few moments before a faint smile curved her lips. “As far as I remember, isn't the Crimson Hear

Anna slowly woke as the morning sunlight filtered through the gaps in her bedroom curtains. Her head felt slightly heavy, making her frown as she tried to gather her thoughts. She closed her eyes again, searching her memory for what had happened the night before.Fragments of the evening surfaced one by one.She and Elena had spent hours together, talking endlessly while enjoying a few drinks. After that, everything became a little blurry. The last thing she clearly remembered was Liam coming to pick her up and taking her home. The bedroom door opened quietly."You're awake?"At the sound of Liam's voice, Anna turned her head. He walked in carrying a glass of honey water."Drink this. It should help with the headache," he said, handing it to her.Anna accepted it with both hands and took a few slow sips."I'm sorry," she said after a moment. "We got so caught up talking last night that I didn't realize I'd had too much to drink."She ended the sentence with an embarrassed grin.Liam s

“Happy birthday!” Elena exclaimed the moment the apartment door swung open and Anna stepped inside.Anna stopped short at the entrance. Her eyes swept across the room filled with white and gold balloons, warm fairy lights twinkling softly overhead, and a small table in the center topped with a simple yet beautiful birthday cake. The scent of vanilla and scented candles lingered in the air.For a few seconds, she could only stare.“You... did all this yourself?” she asked in disbelief, turning to Elena.Elena lifted her chin proudly. “Of course. I got home past midnight and started decorating right away. I almost fell off the chair trying to hang those lights, by the way.”A soft laugh escaped Anna’s lips. Warmth bloomed in her chest at the sight of all the effort her best friend had put in for her. “Oh my God, thank you, my forever-single best friend.”Elena immediately flicked her forehead. “You’re impossible. Even on your birthday, you still find time to make fun of my love life.”A

Anna stood frozen, staring at the mountain of gifts she had just received. Even now, she could barely believe what was in front of her. When the bedroom door opened, Liam walked in with a faint smile tugging at his lips. He crossed the room and wrapped his arms gently around her from behind.“Why do you look so confused?” he asked softly near her ear.Anna let out a quiet breath. “I suddenly own this many properties…” she murmured, still dazed.“You deserve every single one of them,” Liam replied without hesitation. That day, Matilda had gifted Anna a luxurious villa along with an exclusive jewelry set she’d purchased at an auction for ten billion rupiah. Jonathan hadn’t held back either—he gave her a five-star hotel standing proudly in the heart of the city. And Liam…The man had given her a breathtakingly expensive jewelry set and the largest shopping mall in the entire city.Anna still had no idea how she was supposed to react to any of it.“How am I even supposed to manage all of
