LOGINI started walking towards the high school. I had plenty of time. I was kind of lost in my own thoughts. Mostly, I was thinking about my family. My Mom, Clara, lives at the packhouse. She is an assistant to our Luna Mazie and holds a Delta rank. Mom likes to stay close in case the Luna needs her. Dad would be welcome to live with her as the head Epsilon, but he likes to be home with me. My younger brothers live with Mom. As a teenage girl, I am the only one that would not be allowed to live in the packhouse.
At 15, girls become unranked. Before that we are considered the rank of our parents, so I have been unranked for 2 years, 11 months and 13 days. I turn 18 in two short weeks. I don't expect to find that I have a wolf when I turn 18. I just kind of think that if I had a wolf, I would feel it. Besides, I have a plan and having a wolf isn't in the plan. I plan to finish school in two months and leave the pack. Technically, I can go to college and the pack will pay for my schooling and housing if I am unmated. The trade off is that females return to the pack lands each quarter for the Mates Dinner. It's basically a big party for all the unmated pack members to mingle and hopefully meet their fated mate. In our pack this is a huge deal for females to return since it is a second chance to find our wolf. I don't know that I want to return once I leave. Again, I don't think I have a wolf. But college is expensive and having the pack pay would be pretty nice, maybe the trade off would be worth it. If I do have a wolf, my plan is moot. I will be expected to mate and breed. A she-wolf's greatest contribution to the pack is making little wolves to strengthen the pack. Moonless Night is a medium sized pack. There are around 1,200 members. I have never really seen myself as a mate and mother. If I have a wolf, I will be introduced to every unmated male in our pack at the earliest opportunity. This is in the hope that my fated mate is a member of our pack. Moonless Night females rarely leave the pack if they have a wolf. A male wolf can reject a fated mate, but a she-wolf can not initiate a rejection. The last rejection in our pack happened so long ago that it's like a legend. The sounds of cars and teenagers talking around me got louder. I was close to school now. I hunched my shoulders trying to disappear as I headed up the stairs and into the building. Standing at my locker, I opened it and began prepping what I needed for my morning classes: Physics, Geometry, History and English. Once I had my morning stuff in my bag, I locked my locker and turned towards the stairs only to bump into something solid. "Sorry, sorry, sorry. I didn't...." I started to apologize but stopped speaking when I looked up to see it was Carson. Twice in one morning! What are the odds? "Hi Celia. I couldn't wait until English. I am assuming these are yours." He said as he handed me my shorts and socks, neatly folded. "Uhm, yeah. Thanks." I said, shoving them into my bag. "Sorry for crashing into you twice today." Carson smiled. "I don't mind. Feel free to crash into me anytime." He winked and started walking away. "WTF!!! Celia, what was that? How do you know Carson? And what did he mean 'crash into me anytime'? Did he wink at you?" I sighed heavily. "Morning Ang. I don't know. He is in my English class. I ran into him while running this morning and then again now. I am going to have bruises from it. And yes he winked at me, but I don't know why." Ang hooked her arm through mine and we both headed for the stairs. This was going to be a long morning. I hoped she would drop it, but I knew she wouldn't. We have 2 classes together in the morning and more in the afternoon. "I need details!" Ang said excitedly. "Can we just drop it and forget it happened?" I said rolling my eyes. "Hell no! That man is hot with a capital h! And he is winking at you and flirting. 'Crash into me anytime', she imitated Carson's husky voice. " I think he likes you." Ang giggled. "No. If anything he was worried that I was scared this morning when I crashed into him and he reports to my Dad, so he is probably just worried about his job." I tried to brush it off. "So you were far enough from town that you crashed into him while he was on patrol? What were you scared of? What happened? Oh! Better question! Did he shift in front of you? I definitely wouldn't mind getting an eye full of his hot bod as he shifted." Ang smiled and leered. "Goddess! Girl you need to get a grip. Yes, he's good looking, but all the warriors are! He's not interested in me though, he can't be." I said as we slid into our seats and the bell rang. I breathed in relief that Ang couldn't continue her barrage for at least 50 minutes now. Class flew by, mostly because I was dreading the questions Ang would have locked and loaded the minute the bell rang. We had a pop quiz, which was too easy for me, but everyone else in class groaned like the teacher was a sadist. During class, I thought about answering Ang's questions and decided that I needed to simply refuse. I took a deep breath in and tried to find my spine. I usually played along with Ang. But this time, no. The bell rang and immediately Ang was right beside me. We headed out the door on our way to our next class. "Where did you crash into Carson? Was it at the lake? Did he see you swimming? Do you swim naked? Did he see..." I held up my hand to stop her. "No Ang. Just no." I really didn't want to talk about it. I didn't want rumors starting and I didn't want to cause trouble for our Epsilons. If it wasn't common knowledge that humans were coming onto pack lands, I didn't want to be the one to let it get out. "Wow. You never tell me no." Ang said softly as we heard a snort behind us.It was exhausting keeping the feeling of happiness surrounding our bond. But I needed to keep my pain and exhaustion away from Carson. He had been looking forward to tonight all week. Carson never said anything to me about what he wanted for the Mates Dinner, but he thought about the evening and how he wanted it to go. He thought about how beautiful I'd look, he pictured me in different dresses. All the dresses were past my knees, form fitting, dark jeweltone colors. He thought about how other males would look at me and how they would look at us together. He thought about being happy to have me on his arm as we walked around the party together. He thought about me being happy to be dancing with him again. I saw it all through our bond. I don't think he knows how much he shows me through the bond. This week made me realize that I don't want him to know everything I think about. I didn't want him to know how much my wolf hated him. I didn't want him to know that she caused me pain. I
Celly was happy, I could feel her happiness through our bond. I smiled. I was thrilled to be with Celly at a pack event where everyone could see her on my arm. I had the most beautiful girl in the pack in my arms. Many of the Warriors nodded and smiled. A few approached and congratulated me. They assumed we would be announcing by the end of the evening. Thomas walked over and asked Celly if she would like to dance. She looked at me, I nodded and smiled. I wanted her to enjoy her evening, and she loved to dance. I watched as my girl and our friend walked to the dance floor. Derek walked over and said, "Man, Celly is gorgeous. When are you going to Luna for her blessing?" "We aren't. Not tonight at least. I love her. She wants to go to college. I promised her I'd help her leave." I said. Derek looked shocked, "Carson, you can't do that. You can't let your girl leave the pack. She's your mate, you need to announce and claim her." I frowned. "Yes, I can. She wants to go to college. It
Flying back and forth between Westfield and the Springvale three times was exhausting. Though I hadn't really done much of anything. Thanks to Eve's cocktail, the prisoners had been docile and we had no issues. I stretched, this was the last load of prisoners. I watched as they were loaded into the SUVs and the drivers started for Red Dawn. "Mitch, the last prisoners are enroute now. Remember all of them are to be kept separate. Call me when they are secured.""Yes Alpha. We've had no problems and I have cells prepared for the remaining prisoners." I disconnected and paced. I was waiting for my jet to be refueled and ready for the last return flight to Westfield. Two SUVs pulled up at a jet parked a short distance away. Sergi exited the first SUV, a man and a woman exited the second. Sergi began checking through equipment and directing equipment to be loaded onto the jet. The man and woman were helping him. I walked over. "Sergi." I said. "Alpha Evans." Sergi bowed his head. "May
I smiled at Carson. He is handsome and caring and mine! We sat at a table with our friends, his brother and our future Alpha. We ate dinner, talked and laughed. After dinner, females came to our table to mingle. Each gave me a dirty look. That I was accepted as a friend by these men was obviously a source of jealousy. The girls flirted with the guys. Occasionally, one of the guys would ask a girl to dance. One girl, Vera, tried to get Carson's attention. She kept smiling at him and asking him questions. His focus was entirely on me. Vera was annoyed and jealous. She glared at me. Carson leaned towards me and said, "Would you like to dance?" Vera from Carson's other side said, "Carson, I would love to dance with you." Thomas laughed. "Vera, it's not going to happen. If you would like to dance with a Reid, ask Colm." Vera looked at Thomas and said softly, "Colm told me to go away.""I will dance with you if you like, but you have no shot with Carson." Thomas said. Vera frowned and w
Ang had told me she bought Celly a dress especially for tonight. She had planned to surprise her, but apparently Celly's Mom and Luna had also bought her a dress as a surprise. It made me happy that people loved my girl and wanted to do nice things for her. I smiled as I walked downstairs. Luna and Carla were talking in the entrance hall. I greeted them, bowing to Luna. "Ang said you bought Celly a special dress for this evening. Thank you." I smiled. "Gamma Carson, have you seen Celia in her dress?" Luna asked with a smile."Not yet. Ang said it was a surprise. Celly is in her suite getting ready. Ang asked me to wait here." I smiled, "I'm trying to be patient, but I am excited to see Celly and accompany her this evening." Eck said, 'You look like a fool with that dopey grin.' He laughed. 'Our girl is going to think you're silly.''Can't help it Eck. I want to give her the world and I'm excited to spend the Mates Dinner with her.'Michael and Colm came down the stairs laughing. Co
Celly frowned. "Ang, I want to prove the point to my Mom and Luna that I know Carson better than they do." I smiled. "Oh! Celly, I have an idea. Get dressed in the silver slut dress without a bra or panties, so it is exactly how your Mom and Luna want it. Call Carson and ask him to come see you at the Luna's office, but don't tell him why. Go down there in this dress and try one more time to convince Luna and your Mom this dress won't make Carson happy. Leave the door open so Carson can walk in." "Not exactly what I was thinking. My Mom and Luna are going to be waiting to see me at the entrance of the Mates Dinner. I want Carson to be waiting with them too. I want them to see how fast his expression changes when he sees this dress. I want them to see the burst of anger he will have and the look of disappointment on his face." Celly stepped into her closet and grabbed a pair of silver stiletto heels and tossed them on the bed. She went to her dressing table and got out ear cuffs and
Celia seemed happy. She hummed as we sat down for breakfast. She didn't really eat. "My dear, are you not hungry?""I don't normally eat much for breakfast. I usually just drink juice and then grab a protein bar and eat it mid-morning." "Ah. Well then, let's get started." I said pushing my plate a
I waited for Uncle Leo. I was feeling hopeful but nervous. Carson hadn't told me anything about what he and Leo spoke about. 'Because they are going to hide things from you.' My wolf said. 'Why do you think that?' I asked.'They won't want to scare you. They want you to stay and accept Carson.'
Beta Leo's story was sad. I understood why he didn't talk about his past. I'd wondered why he was unmated but never thought it was because his mate had left him. It scared me to think Celly might leave me. She seemed so happy recently. As I left this morning she kissed me and thanked me again for a
I paused, remembering how hard it had been. Those days when Emilia wouldn't even come to the door. When Ivar would apologize for her and beg me not to give up on her. I never considered giving up, I loved her too much. "We spent three months like that, me going to her house, her refusing to see me
