LOGINSovia’s POV
"Congratulations, it is an honor for our daughter to marry into the Royal family." Marriage? Royal family? Everything about those words made my blood boil, but wasn't I supposed to be dead? "Sovia, why aren't you saying anything?" I snapped my eyes open, and the first thing that hit me was the blinding light. I blinked, noticing the wolf gothic carvings on the walls. This was the Moonshade ancestral hall. Why was I here? I tilted my head down to see if I was still alive. "Is this real?" My hands trembled as I placed them against my chest. The spot still stung like Janova’s claws were still deep inside. "I know, my dear. This is a dream come true. You've waited so long to be Alpha Janova’s mate. Now your engagement has finally been approved." That voice— I turned my head to the side and found my mother holding a paper, flashing it over my face. Engagement contract! A deep sense of dread gripped my throat. This was five years ago, the day the Royal family approved my marriage to that monster. Looking back, this was the day my life truly ended. Slowly I reached out, taking the contract. In my past life, this was the happiest day of my life. I got engaged to the man I had pursued since I was sixteen years old. I wasted ten good years with Janova in my past life. "What a joke!" I mumbled, squeezing the papers hard as tears started dripping from my face. My mother gasped beside me. "Look, tears of joy… our Sovia is so well-mannered, as everyone in Babel State knows how much she loves…" Rip! Rip! Rip! Mumbling started coursing through the air, chairs scraping the floor as the elders shifted uncomfortably. I didn't care. The Moon Goddess has given me a chance to rewrite my fate. This time, I won't make that mistake. Tossing the paper right in front of the woman I called my mother, I frowned. "When did I say I wanted to marry the second prince?" My mother's mouth fell open. She turned toward the rest of the family. "Umm… this is a misunderstanding…" " I have no intention of marrying Prince Janova. Not in this life or the next." My mother stumbled back, holding onto her chest. "You…" "What's going on?" "I thought the second lady from Moonshade was proper and well-behaved. I guess it's just rumors." Proper? Well-behaved? More like a pathetic puppet. My mother grabbed my hand, panting. "Sweetheart, apologize to the elders and stop acting stubborn. This isn’t you." Slowly I placed my hand on hers, then squeezed. "Your Sovia's dead." Leaning closer, I whispered softly, "I'm Wrath—your undoing." She froze, pulling away from me as sweat pooled at the corners of her head. ***** "Go inside!" Nicola, my nanny, shoved me inside in a harsh tone. Her nails scraped against my flesh. After tearing the engagement contract, Mother dragged me off after appeasing the Lockham elders. Even if I go through hell itself, I must change my fate. "Kneel!" I turned, locking eyes with Nanny Nicola. She was the lady in charge of taking care of me—or at least that was what I thought. Now, looking at my past life, I realized that she was my mother's leash. She followed me around until I got married to Janova, even visiting from time to time. I was home-schooled, with no friends. Maybe that's why I fell in love with the first boy I met. If I wanted to break my mother's hold over me, I would have to start by getting rid of Nanny Nicola. "Didn't you hear what she said?" "You're just a servant in the Moonshade pack house. Who are you to give me orders." Nanny Nicola frowned,"How dare you talk back to your elder. I practically raised you." Yes, and that's why I was so dumb, and pathetic. Click! Click! I kept my gaze down as my mother moved closer. Then she stopped. "Explain yourself, Sovia. How dare you disgrace your mother like this?" When I didn't answer, she lifted her hand, wanting to strike me, but I grabbed her palm. Nanny Nicola gasped. My mother’s eyes widened. She wasn’t my mother? Now I could understand why she treated me so differently from Lydia. "Wow, you have really grown, young lady," she snarled, her blue eyes glimmering. Then I felt a prickling on my skin. It must have been so long, I had forgotten what she felt like—my wolf. That's right. In my past life, I sacrificed my wolf so Janova could have the strength he needed to defeat Prince ZadeKiah. "Bring it," my mother groaned. I blinked, watching as Nanny dug her hand into her apron and took out a little lock, engraved with gothic carvings. No! My feet instinctively moved back as I watched my mother grab it from Nanny Nicola. "I've been going too soft on you," she groaned, her wolf energy shimmering as she infused the lock with her powers. My mother had a secret no one in the pack was aware of. She was a hybrid—part wolf and witch. That lock was my control switch! "Urgh!" Pain shot from my spine, and I arched until it rushed inside my head. "Do have any idea. What you just did. I trained you all these years. This is how you repay me?" She barked. My teeth clenched, a metallic taste flooding my mouth. Sweat stung my eyes as a sharp, electric hum raced behind my skull. My vision blurred as the room flashed red and black before I crumpled to the floor, gasping, trembling. It's been so long, and I had forgotten what it was like to have a thousand needles pierce through my spine. In my first life, my mother’s harsh treatment was to keep me in submission. To the outside world, she was an overprotective mother, but she was nothing but a monster. "Do you admit your wrong?" my mother hissed, eyes still shimmering blue, thumb hovering over the ancient artifact. Through heavy pants, I smirked, looking up at my mother. Janova helped me remove the needles after I was mated. I thought he helped me—saved me, but he was no different from the others. And I will kill every single one. “No!” I said through gritted teeth, dripping with blood. “I didn't do anything wrong. And I will never marry Janova.” My mother only nodded, her eyes shimmered with rage. “Alright, keep running your mouth.”Zadekiah’s POV“Your Highness, will you be going to see His Majesty? From the message he sent, I don't think he is very happy.”Isaac, my beta, murmured after me as he tried to keep up with my footsteps. My mind was still reeling from Sovia’s words. She wanted to stay for a year. What did she think I was? A charity case to dump her problems on.She’s smart. There must be a reason why she was really here. And it was not for those words she said. Little liar.I kicked the door open. It cracked as I marched inside my room. Isaac made sure to hover around the doorway, giving me the space to cool off as I paced.“What could possibly be the reason why she chose to be here?” The words slipped out unconsciously.Isaac hummed. “Do you mean Lady Sovia? I don't think she might have ill intentions.”I shot him a sideways glare, and he immediately pressed his mouth shut.My footsteps slowed by the window. I stared out into the night light, the moon hanging above.“If someone is offering to stay
Sovia’s POV“Who exactly is this woman in front of me?”I only responded with a smile and inched closer. “We already offended the Alpha King—how about we attend the dinner. “Besides,” I rubbed my hands over my stomach. “I'm starving.”Zadekiah’s face clenched as he moved away from me. His hand crossed over his back, not looking at me. “Why are you here, Sovia? Staying here with me will only lead you to a life of condemnation. The whole state will hate you.”He paused, letting the words sink in, then he exhaled. His shoulders loosened.“You can leave now. I'm trying to be considerate.”“That's strange. I heard the demon Lycan prince was quite unreasonable. Don't tell me I'm different, and you're making an exception for me?”“Nonsense.”I rolled my eyes, and then my gaze landed on the ticking silver timer embedded in my arm — a constant, silent reminder of how little time I truly had left.He didn’t know that he was the closest or safest option. It was either him or Janova. Janova may
Sovia’s POV What should be considered insanity — trying to seduce this wolf with psychotic tendencies or loving the way he couldn't take his eyes off me? I didn't want to know what was going on inside his head, as long as his gaze was pinned on mine. And this deadly game was the only way to survive this year without dying. “Get up.” “No, I don't want to. We are mates, aren't we?” Something hardened, along with the rest of his body. I had a feeling he didn't like me saying those words. Shamelessly calling him my mate when I schemed my way here. “We are nothing.” His grim, sadistic response chimed. Both of my knees pressed against the bed, leaning forward. Zadekiah didn't flinch, but his throat bulged. “But everyone thinks we are—you took me from my wedding, brought me to your mansion. Tell me, would you do that to anyone?” Questions like this felt like lines that I shouldn't be crossing, but honestly I wanted to know. Even if that day at the moon chapel he denied doing all t
Zadekiah’s POVThis was the way I have always been. A mindless beast, and seeing the way I hurt her today.Nothing has truly changed. After what she did to me—I was still yet to decide her fate. And the more she stayed, letting her off would be harder.“Your Highness, are you alright?”Isaac asked from behind me. All I could do was stare at my hands as the moonlight poured in from the window. The urge to ask about how Sovia was doing was getting increasingly difficult after I had my hands on her in the morning. Forget it.“How is she?”“Who?”I shut my eyes with a deep sigh. Then, as if Isaac snapped back into reality, “Oh right. You must be asking about Lady Sovia.”“Who else will I be asking for?”This time, I turned to him fully with a maddening frown over my lips. He knew he had overstepped by calling her name so casually.“She is fine, and currently resting.”“Has she…” I took a deep breath. “Has she eaten?”“Umm… that’s.” Isaac started to brush his hand behind his neck. “Ther
Sovia’s POVIn the past, my mate was a cheating scum. Now, in this life, I married a mad man—Sovia Henric. You really are formidable.I could still feel the soreness of my neck as my hand caressed the spot where Zadekiah had lost control. Lunatic! The door slammed behind my back, leaving me and Beta Isaac outside. He shifted, casting one glance at me before he turned to the door. “Did my alpha hurt you?”Hurt me? I almost wanted to laugh. Janova tore out my heart while watching as I crumbled. A simple choke won’t chase me away.“I’ve endured worse.” I retorted. That caught Beta Isaac’s attention. He crossed his arms over his chest, sighed, and asked, “Why are you so concerned about His Highness? Your life will be much easier if you marry the other one.”“Hmm,” I smirked, letting my hand slip from my neck. “And by the other brother you mean—Prince Janova?”Beta Isaac didn’t respond. Only a long frown pulled over his face. That was what everyone was going to think. Why marry the one wh
Zadekiah’s POVThere was something about Sovia. I could smell it from the day she approached me on her birthday, saying the most absurd thing.”Mark me.”When I refused, she proceeded to tell the whole world she was carrying my pup. She’s insane. That should be the answer. The cold tip of her fingers on my chest made my gaze snap up to see her drawing closer. It made my throat tighten. Something twisted under my abdomen, yet all I could think about was how sweet and savoury she scented.Since I took the moon cuffs, my senses become sharper. Sensitive even. And my wolf, Zion, had clawed at me the entire night to see Sovia.Gods, he was even more maddening, like this was the first time he was seeing a woman.I didn’t want to touch her. Whatever was growing inside me would only get worse. And we were supposed to keep our distance. I shunned Zion when his howls started to grow faint. We? I didn’t agree to that. He huffed back.Filthy uncontrolled beast with insatiable hunger. And that h

Sovia’s POV"Is that what you want, Alpha King?"His eyes flickered with an unreadable expression, and I inched back for a heartbeat. But his grip found my shoulders, neither gentle nor hard. Was it always like this, or was I finally starting to see things clearly?"My queen," he said, pulling his
