LOGINJapheth
“A million dollars!?” I asked in sheer shock, not wanting to believe what I just heard but Captain nodded to prove that I didn't hear him wrong.
“This mission is a matter of national security. Which is why we're sending you because you've always kept a low profile.” He replied and I tsked softly.
Low profile? What does he expect of a low-life constable?
“So, what you're trying to say is, I get to travel to California, get a new life and identity, which includes a new house and car, and then I still get a million dollars?” I asked to be sure I wasn't dreaming or tweaking and when Captain nodded with a smile on his lips, I nearly punched the air in excitement.
“But—”
Of course, there's always a but.
“You only get half the payment now. You'll use that to take care of yourself for the next six months. Once you complete the mission, the rest will be yours.” He explained and I nodded in understanding.
“So, I have six months to complete this mission?”
“This is why I like you, Jared. You're so smart.” He said in satisfaction and I scoffed lightly, not wanting to admit that I was a sucker for compliments.
“What now?” I asked and he clicked his fingers before gesturing for me to come over to his table.
“This is your new identity. Japheth Wilson.” He pointed to his computer and my face scrunched into a frown.
“Why Japheth? You could have chosen a better name—”
“Are you arguing with the higher-ups now?” He asked in annoyance and I immediately mimicked zipping my lips. “Everything about your new identity is in here. I've sent it to you. Take your time and go through it, study every detail so you don't mess up. You'll be a professor at the university where the suspect studies. You've always been good at teaching anyway so this should be a piece of cake for you.”
I let out a sigh, feeling slightly overwhelmed but I knew that this mission held excitement that I couldn't just let go of.
“Alright, Captain. Thank you for entrusting me with this mission.” Even though he had almost given it to someone else. Such a two-faced man. “When do I leave for California?”
“By Monday. Here,” He took out a big file from his drawer and my lips thinned into a small line. Why didn't he just give me everything at once?
“This contains your new identity passport, ID card, everything you might need as Japheth the professor.” He said and handed me the file while I nodded in response. “The whole nation is putting their trust in you. Don't let us down.”
Monday. Three days. Three days until my life changes. Until I take on a new identity.
And I would give it my all.
“Yes, Sir!”
**************************
Three days had passed, slowly at first, then like a flash. I had spent every hour researching on the Martinez’. I avoided my family as much as I could but Jackson remained a huge thorn in my flesh. When I packed the few things I needed from the house, he had mocked me, telling me that I couldn't run away from him.
Like hell, I was running away. None of them knew of this mission. None of them even knew where I was headed or why I was leaving. My stepmom had a look of satisfaction on her face when I dragged my small suitcase out. My Dad? He didn't even acknowledge my presence.
I could tell Jackson was curious with the way he followed me around until I got into my pickup car. Shifting the gear into reverse mode, I nearly let out a yelp when I saw Jackson right beside the window.
“Tell me the truth. Who are you going to live with? Do I trouble you that much?” He asked, but I simply let out a sigh and tried to raise the windows, which, of course, didn't care about me.
“You wanted me out so I'm leaving. Shouldn't you be happy?” I replied and he smiled, his hand moving to touch my hair, causing me to flinch instantly.
“You're so gullible and fragile… look at you. You have such a small, lean frame that if you weren't tall, no one would believe you're in your thirties. The world out there isn't kind and it'll break you before you know it.” He muttered, his eyes holding a weird kind of emotion that had my skin crawling.
“Fuck off, Jackson.” I spat in anger, my hand reaching out to push him away from the car, but he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me closer, so close that our faces were only inches apart, and I yelped in shock.
“Only I can treat you better. I don't care where you're going. I will find you, make your life miserable, and bring you back to where you belong.” He mumbled, his eyes trained on my lips and everything in me recoiled as I yanked my hand out of his grip immediately.
I stepped on the accelerator and the car immediately reversed out of the parking lot before speeding out of the house. I glanced at the rearview mirror to see that he was standing by the gate, his eyes fixed on my car as I sped away.
What the fuck was that all about? I shuddered slightly, feeling weirded out by the way he stared at me and the words he uttered. That fucking prick.
He was just a lawyer, and I am a police officer. There's no way in hell that I'll let him make my life miserable again. Besides, how would he even find me in California with a new identity?
I drove to the station and the car finally came to a stop. The moment I stepped into the building, everyone's eyes were on me. Like I was some kind of unreal being.
Pushing my way to the Captain's office, I saw him standing by the window with a lost look on his face. When he finally noticed me, he cleared his throat and gave me a very serious stare.
“Everyone's waiting at the airport.” He muttered and I sucked in a sharp breath, my hands getting clammy all of a sudden due to nervousness.
AaronJapheth had been acting strange for a few days now. Asking random questions about betrayal and lies, and I wouldn't lie; it bothered me.What if he found out that I've been lying to him all these while? That I was involved in something he so desperately hated?Would he leave me? Hate me? Run from me?It made me overthink. All the freaking time. Whatever nightmare he had last night made him run from me and I wondered if it was because of what Matteo did to him. I still needed to make that asshole pay for what he did.Damn it.“Are you ready for your surprise, love?” I asked softly and the way he held my hand tightly in fear made my heart break. But he smiled nevertheless and nodded.I slowly took off the blindfold from his face and he blinked in confusion. He didn't seem to understand for a second until his eyes caught sight of the decorated car in front of him and he gasped.“What…” He turned to me with wide eyes and I smiled, taking his hand as I pulled him to the car.“Well,
Japheth “W-what truth?” I asked shakily as I tried to sit up but he held me back down. He looked quite disappointed as he stared at me, making my heart pound harshly in my chest.“Why do you keep lying to me?” He asked again and I let out a shaky breath as I looked around. This had to be a dream. I wanted to wake up immediately. But even when I pinched myself, nothing happened and I even winced in pain.“I'm not lying to you…” I whispered, not knowing what else to do as I tried to move again but his gaze darkened as he leaned towards me.“I don't forgive liars and backstabbers, professor.” He muttered coldly and my heart flew. “I love you but I can't keep you around anymore.”“What?” I asked in horror as fear seeped into my body and I tried to push him away but he simply grabbed my hands, pinning me back down. “What are you doing, Aaron? Let me go!”“Getting rid of a potential threat. You.” He whispered and then brought the pillow down to my face. “I'm sorry… I can't risk it anymore.
Japheth I had flinched so hard when the knife nearly touched me but then I felt a hand on my shoulder, dragging me out of whatever the fuck just happened.“Love, are you okay?” I glanced at Aaron in confusion mixed with horror before looking down at his hand to see that he had a butter knife in his hand.I looked behind me and there was no one there. Did I actually just imagine Aaron killing me?“I'm fine…” I whispered, rubbing my forehead gently and he placed the blunt knife on the table, sitting beside me.What was wrong with me?“We can go to sleep if you're tired. You've had a long day.” He muttered, patting my back gently and I nodded, unable to argue.I watched as he placed the cake in the fridge and then carried me to the room. He insisted on helping me take a bath since I was still injured, and I couldn't say no, so I agreed.“Tell me if I accidentally touch where it hurts okay?” He muttered softly as he gently scrubbed my arms and chest with the sponge and I nodded. My hear
Japheth “So you wanna quit the mission?” Stephen asked and I sat up. “You know it's not that easy, right?”“I can't end it if I wanted to, can I?” I muttered in despair as I let out a sigh. “I think I have the wrong target. Aaron isn't the real heir, Matteo is. Why can't I just arrest the real heir instead? Aaron is…”“Aaron is what? Innocent?”“Yes.”“You've been blinded by love.” Stephen tsked in annoyance. “There's more to what is going on than what you're seeing.” He stated and I frowned in confusion.“What do you mean?” I asked, playing with my fingers nervously and he went silent for a while. “Stephen.”“Are you at his house right now?” He asked and my throat ran dry as I let out a sigh.“I am.”More silence that made me so nervous and worried.“Goodnight, Japheth.” He said and without waiting for my response, the call ended.Damn it.I let out a sigh of despair, wincing in pain as I dragged myself out of the couch, wondering how long Japheth would be gone for.It was past 12 a
Japheth With shaky fingers, I took out my phone, grateful that it wasn't as damaged as I thought it would be. But I definitely needed a new phone, the screen was awful to look at.Aaron glanced at me as the car sped down the road and the phone finally stopped ringing, making me let out a sigh of relief. I jolted slightly when the phone started to ring again and this time, I swiped red, wincing when the screen tore my finger a bit.“Are you okay?” Aaron asked, slowing the car down and I immediately nodded. “Shouldn't you take the call? Whoever it is is probably worried about you.”“It's no one important.” I lied, shoving the phone back into the small bag. “Are we there yet?” I asked, changing the subject and he was silent for a moment. He looked like he didn't believe a word I had said and it made my heart pound in my chest. “We're here.” He finally said as the call slowed to a stop. He got out, inputting the pin that I remembered clearly to be my phone number before returning to th
JaphethOh no. How the hell did it take me so long to realize that if my phone was discovered, it could ruin everything?“Did you by any chance get my phone?” I asked even though I knew that was a stupid question. He probably didn't even know where my car was. “The police didn't let me get close to your car when I arrived at the crash.” He replied and only then did I let out a sigh of relief. “Why?”“Nothing, I'd just like to inform Stephen that I got into an accident in case he's worried about me.” I muttered and the moment his face darkened, my lips thinned into a line.“Why are you always hanging out with him?” He said with a frown as he walked out of the hospital, oblivious to the stares we got from others.“Because he's my friend, don't be silly now.” I said with a roll of my eyes as he helped me into the passenger seat that was stained with my blood but I ignored it.I should probably wash it out for him but knowing who he was, this shouldn't be new.I couldn't help but think a
Aaron.I arrived back home faster than expected, my heart thumping hard in my chest as Jace stood by the door waiting for me with a grim expression on his face and I knew something was wrong.“Am I in trouble?” I questioned with a yawn as soon as I got out of the car and he gave me a small nod that
Japheth I couldn't stop the shame and embarrassment that filled me when Aaron burst into my office right in the middle of me pleasuring myself. Thankfully, the desk was covering the lower part of my body, so even though he caught me in the act, he couldn't see what I was doing.“Get out, Aaron!” I
Japheth If I didn't know better, I would have believed Aaron's words. He had asked to drop me off but I vehemently refused, telling him I'll take a cab. He presumed that I was uncomfortable because he had explained all about that Andy guy. But I was actually concerned by how good he lied.I lay on
Japheth Leaving the gay club feeling disappointed wasn't part of the plan. I couldn't explain to myself why I was disappointed. Maybe it was because I was beginning to believe Alice's words. And maybe it was because I was beginning to see Aaron in a different light. I let out a sigh as I placed a
