Figuring out how to tackle a series as massive and intricately woven as 'Lord of Mysteries' is a pretty common puzzle for new readers. The core text itself follows a single, continuous narrative from Klein Moretti's transmigration into the world of steam and mysticism right through to the end of Volume 8, so you absolutely should read that from Chapter 1 to the final chapter in sequence—jumping around would spoil huge revelations and make the complex power system utterly incomprehensible.
Where the order gets a bit more debated is with the supplemental material. The author wrote several side stories and apocrypha, like 'The Fool's Gambit' or segments focusing on side characters, which are best approached after you've finished the main story. They often assume you know the full scope of the plot and the fates of the major characters, and reading them mid-way would be a minefield of spoilers. Some fans even suggest saving them for a re-read, to add new layers to the world.
Honestly, the only exception I'd consider is if you hit a wall with the early pacing. The first volume is famously a slow-burn mystery that meticulously sets up the world; if you're struggling, pushing through in order is still the best move, but maybe adjust your expectations knowing the payoff is immense. Trying to skip ahead or read synopses first would just ruin the carefully constructed drip-feed of clues and cosmic horror. The author built this house of cards one piece at a time, and that's the only way to experience it properly, feeling that same dawning comprehension Klein does.
The various fan wikias and chapter guides can be useful references for keeping track of the tarot club members or the pathways, but they're also packed with unmarked endgame spoilers, so I'd avoid browsing them until you're done. The true reading order is linear, patient, and immersive—letting the mystery unfold exactly as intended, from that first foggy awakening in the body of a history graduate to the mind-bending climax high above the spirit world.

"I, Charlotte Jane Attwood of the Crimson Moon Pack, reject you, Knox and Kane Maddox, as my mates and sever my bond to you both and your pack!" I recited, my eyes dancing with my unspoken pain seeing my mates entwined together with a female! A female who was not me!
Shaking my head of the tears I felt threatening to fall from my icy hues. I straightened and waited for them to accept my rejection! But the words that left their lips left me stunned.
"I, Knox Maddox and Alpha to the Crimson moon pack refuse to accept your rejection!" He snarled, slipping from the bed, naked and unashamed to step into me, the female sprawled out on the bed forgotten. Kane was quick on his heels, the pair caging me in a wall of muscle and testosterone.
"You belong to us, Lottie! I, Kane Maddox, Alpha of the Crimson Moon Pack, refuse to accept your rejection."
"Ours!" Knox repeated anger swimming in his baby blues.

The next day I woke up, I am now the fiance of the Duke of Dubois Castle, or known as Lemon.
“I am a demon who lives by desire and greed, you have yielded with the contract that you have exchanged with your life?”
“Then what do you want?”
“I want the whole of you Veta Le Blanchet, not just your blood, heart and soul, it is the whole of you.”
Theroux Claude, the third prince of the kingdom.
“Lady Le Blanchet, just how can you stand still this demon duke? If you ever get tired of him, you are always welcome to my palace.”
Another troublesome man, my childhood friend when I was at the academy, Durand Gagnon.
“I have attained this nickname not just because I follow all his Majesty’s order, but because I want to have a stronghold in the knight position so that I can support you my Lady, remember that my oath is only for you.”
Then, what is my cousin thinking that he would say such things?
“Sister, I have finally inherited the title of the Baron, please come back to our fief, and I will make sure to bring back the glory of our family!”
As I try to relinquish the past, the more troublesome it becomes. Is clinging to the tiny bit of my life a wrong choice? And why is the temple spying on me?
“Lady Le Blanchet is the only descendant of the family, you shouldn’t involve yourself farther with the Demon Duke.”
“It’s done my Lady, as long as it is you, I can give everything, even if I destroy this Kingdom.”
Hold on, just what on earth this demon wants from me?
Forced to return to the past and then venture back into the realms of the dark lord to save her friend, Esmerelda faces loss, love, and a new awakening in this final installment of the Esmerelda Sleuth Series.

Starting with 'Lord of Mysteries' can feel a bit overwhelming, I get it. The sheer scale of that world is huge. But honestly, you gotta begin with the first novel, obviously titled 'Lord of Mysteries'. Don't even think about skipping ahead or starting with 'Circle of Inevitability'. That one's a sequel, set years after the events of the first series. Jumping in there would be like watching 'The Two Towers' without seeing 'Fellowship'. You'll be utterly lost, trust me.
After finishing the first book, that's when you move on to 'Circle of Inevitability'. The author, Cuttlefish That Loves Diving, built this incredibly intricate power system and lore that develops across the entire first story. Trying to understand the Tarot Club, the pathways, and all the historical mysteries from the sequel's perspective just wouldn't work. The emotional payoff in 'Circle' relies so heavily on knowing the journey of Klein Moretti and the other original members. I'd even suggest taking a little break between the two, maybe rereading some favorite arcs, just to let the first story settle.
