Does Chapter 39 Have A Major Plot Twist?

On the fifth year anniversary of my marking ceremony with Alpha Gabriel Blackhound, I got sprayed by a blast of high-concentration silver powder that was ejected from the jewelry box I had opened. It resulted in me going blind in both eyes. Gabriel practically tore down the entire jewelry store out of rage. He vowed to find the culprit and exact vengeance on my behalf. Since then, he served as my walking cane. Even if he was dealing with pack matters, he insisted on making me sit on his lap. The entire pack sang praises about how devoted he was to me. But when I lay on my deathbed, I overheard Gabriel's murmured conversation with my best friend, Isabelle Barker. He was even hugging her at that time. "Gabriel, our son will be officially taking over as the pack's Alpha tomorrow. I suppose we have that blind she-wolf to thank for being a free nanny to him." "Yeah. If we didn't blind her back then, she'd never have agreed to taking care of our heir, who looks very similar to me." It turned out that the suffering and gratitude I had gone through in this lifetime was nothing more than an elaborate scheme Gabriel and Isabelle had woven for me in order to get their bastard pup crowned as the next Alpha! Overwhelmed with immense resentment and hatred, I breathed my last on the bed. When I open my eyes again, I hear Gabriel urging me to open the gift. The lethal jewelry box, which is still sealed and untouched, is currently sitting right in front of me. That's when I know that I've gotten reborn. I do my best to suppress the roiling waves of hatred as I gently push the box filled with silver powder into Gabriel's arm. Then, I act all cutesy in front of him. "Darling, since this is a surprise that you've prepared for me, why don't you open the box and put the jewelry on for me?"

Then, not even five minutes later, I caught her in the corner, sliding her hand under another guy's shirt. He bit his lip and just took it. Something in my brain short-circuited. I stood up and walked over. If Vanessa wanted him, why couldn't I? But the second I reached for him, he smacked my hand away. Vanessa cracked up. The whole private room turned to watch. Mortified, I slapped him. "You work at a place like this. Don't play innocent." Later, my family went broke, and I ended up working at a nightclub just to get by. The private room was loud as hell. I lost a game, and everyone at the table started chanting for me to take my bra off. My face went hot. I stood there, completely frozen. Then a low voice cut through the noise with a cold laugh. "You work at a place like this. Don't play innocent." I looked up. Our eyes locked. His stare was icy, full of pure mockery. It was the college guy I'd slapped years ago.

Fourth in Series. Many familiar faces are re-united, as you see their children grown and preparing to take their positions in pack or find their place in life. Just like their parents, the group are incredibly close. The many friendships are intertwined, but will things become complicated as love has potential to bloom or unexpected matebonds form. But, sure as the moon is to rise, you know fate will take them on unexpected twist, after unexpected twist… but, did fate have a greater plan all along?

Following the success of her two novels, Cela receives an offer for the TV adaptation of her stories but a third story has to be written soon to complete a three-story special. She is not in to the project until she rediscovers the paper bearing the address of the meeting place of her supposed first date with Nate. Now that her mother is no longer around to interfere, she becomes inspired to reunite with him after many years and hopefully write the third novel based on their new story. Unfortunately, he is now about to get married in two months. Disappointed with the turn of events, she decides not to meet him again. She visits their old meeting place and finds it a good place to write but unexpectedly meets him there. They agree not to talk to each other if they meet there again but fate leads them to meet again under different circumstances leaving them no choice but to speak to each other. Suddenly, Nate’s fiancée starts acting weird and suggests that he spend the weekend with Cela while she is away. Although it confuses him, he figures that it is her way of helping him get closure. The two spend one Sunday reminiscing the past expecting a closure in the end but the wonderful moment they share this time only makes it harder to achieve that closure so Cela has to put a stop to it saying, “Please don't think even for a second that there is still something left or something new to explore after everything that happened or did not happen. This is not a novel. This is reality. We don't get sequels or spin-offs in real life. We just continue. We move forward and that's how we get to the ending."
