The Clifton Chronicles? Start with 'Only Time Will Tell'. No question. Archer uses a neat structural trick in that first book, telling the same period of time from the perspectives of four different characters. It sounds repetitive, but it's not—each chapter adds new layers to the mystery. It's a technique he mostly abandons later in the series, which is a shame, because it's really effective here.

My local librarian actually had to tell me the order. I kept bringing in 'The Sins of the Father' thinking it was first. She gently corrected me and handed me 'Only Time Will Tell'. Thank goodness for librarians. She was right, of course. Reading them out of order would have spoiled some major surprises. The series relies heavily on sequential revelation.

Yeah, it's 'Only Time Will Will'. Simple as that. I find the first book to be the most grounded. Later on, the plots get wild with corporate takeovers, political scandals, and international intrigue. But here, it's a boy, a secret, and a dream. It's more emotionally resonant in my opinion. The scene where Harry discovers his voice is one of my favorite moments in all of Archer's work.

'Only Time Will Tell' is the one. I read it on a plane and finished it before we landed. Time just flew by. That's the sign of a good page-turner. The historical details feel well-researched without being overwhelming. You get a sense of the times without getting a history lesson. It's a fine line, and Archer walks it well in the first book.
