Oh, this is my jam. The usual suspects are 'Neuromancer', 'Snow Crash', and 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'. But the fun part is arguing about what belongs in the second tier. Is 'The Diamond Age' cyberpunk enough, or is it post-cyberpunk? It often shows up. 'Altered Carbon' is a lock for any list made after 2000. Bruce Sterling's 'Schismatrix' or 'Islands in the Net' are critic favorites.
Then there are the books that blend cyberpunk with other genres. 'The Windup Girl' is biopunk, 'The Water Knife' is climate punk, but they share that high-tech, low-life heart. Some lists will sneak in a manga like 'Akira' or 'Ghost in the Shell', which is totally fair—they're core texts. I've even seen 'Ready Player One' on some populist lists, which always starts a fight in the comments. A good list should make you want to read a few you haven't tried yet.

Let's break it down by era. The 80s classics: 'Neuromancer', 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?', Bruce Sterling's early work, 'Mindplayers' by Pat Cadigan. The early 90s boom: 'Snow Crash', 'Virtual Light', 'Hardwired', 'Synners'. The late 90s/2000s evolution: 'Altered Carbon', 'The Diamond Age', 'Idoru'.
Then you have the books that stretch the definition but are often included. 'The Windup Girl' for biopunk, 'Rainbows End' by Vernor Vinge for augmented reality, 'REAMDE' by Stephenson for a contemporary thriller angle. Anthologies like 'Mirrorshades' or 'Rewired: The Post-Cyberpunk Anthology' are great for sampling voices. Most 'best of' lists stick to the first two eras, as those books have had time to be canonized. It's rare to see a list without Gibson and Stephenson in the top five.

Havoc -
A sweet like honey accent and a pair of hips I couldn’t keep my eyes off. That’s how it started.Darcie Summers was playing the part of my old lady to keep herself safe but we both know it’s more than that. There’s something real between us.Something passionate and primal.Something my half brother’s stupidity will rip apart unless I can get to her in time.
Cyber - Everyone has that ONE person that got away, right?
The one who you wished you had treated differently.
For me, that girl has always been Iris.So when she turns up on Savage Sons territory needing help, I am the man for the job.
Every time I look at her I see the beautiful girl I left behind but Iris is no longer that girl.
What I put into motion years ago has shattered her into a million hard little pieces.
And if I’m not careful they will cut my heart out.
Fang-The first time I saw her, she was sat on the side of the road drinking whiskey straight from the bottle.
The second time was when I hit her dog.
I had promised myself never to get involved with another woman after the death of my wife.
But Gypsy was different.
Sweeter, kinder and with a mouth that could make a sailor blush.
She was also too good for me.
I am Fang, President of the Savage Sons. I am not a good man, I’ve taken more lives than I care to admit even to myself.
But I’m going to keep her anyway.

Warning: This collection contains explicit adult content, including intense power dynamics, dominance/submission, dubious consent themes in fantasy context, BDSM elements, age-gap scenarios, breeding kink, group play undertones, and graphic sexual situations. All stories feature consenting adults in fictional scenarios.
In this scorching anthology, eight ruthless, ultra-wealthy billionaires each claim total ownership over the woman who enters their world—whether through debt, auction, obsession, or sheer predatory desire. Every novella stands alone, delivering a different flavor of erotic heat while threading the addictive "owned by the billionaire" fantasy throughout. Dive into whichever kink calls to you... or devour them all.

The soul of Neo Manila and the whole colony is at stake. Will the Sons of Lapu-Lapu or the New Gods prevail in the end? Who will you pledge your allegiance to?
What about the music of it all? This is a tangent, but the synthwave and industrial soundtracks we associate with cyberpunk visuals create a feeling that's cold, synthetic, and pulsating. That auditory aesthetic is the emotional counterpart to the literary style. Classic sci-fi might have inspired grand, orchestral 'space' music. Cyberpunk inspired something grittier, more electronic, and visceral.
It's another layer of the influence—how the feel of the future changed from the awe of the cosmos to the anxiety of the machine.
Stanisław Lem’s 'The Cyberiad' is a wild, philosophical, and poetic series of fables about constructor robots. While not punk in attitude, its deep exploration of the logic and whimsy of intelligent machines, and its metafictional playfulness, provided an intellectual foundation for thinking about AI that was far richer than the 'rogue computer' trope. It gave the 'cyber' part some serious heft.
Honestly, a lot of the influence feels indirect, like a vibe that seeped in. The best 2000s sci-fi, things like 'Blindsight' by Peter Watts, introduced a crushing, cosmic pessimism that later cyberpunk narratives adopted. Before, rebellion had a chance, however slim. After Watts and others, you get this pervasive sense that the system isn't just oppressing you; it might be fundamentally incomprehensible, or you might be biologically unequipped to fight it. You see this in the hopeless, atmospheric dread of something like 'Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex' post-2000, or in the transhuman horror elements of games like 'Observer.' The tech is still there, but the philosophical underpinnings got a lot darker and more complex.
