How To Draw A Axolotl

Casually sketching an axolotl is a delightful way to decompress after a long day. They're quite simple to draw. Begin with a chunky, elongated oval for the body, then another oval for the head. Appendages are short with tiny toes. The feather-like gills are the venus flytrap lookalikes branching out from the head.

The face is the key - axolotls always seem to be wearing a content smile. Add small almond-shaped eyes and a virtually upward curve for the mouth. Colouring isn’t necessary but if you decide to add some, stick to light pink or even a grayscale blend if you feel adventurous.

Sketching an axolotl is pretty straightforward. Draw an elongated oval for its body and a slightly bigger one for the head. Add small, stubby legs, feather-like gills on the sides of the head, and a lighthearted, smiling face.
