Zelda Zanders is a gem from the 1989 'Legend of Zelda' cartoon, appearing in exactly three episodes. She debuts in 'The White Knight' as this faux-innocent thief, then returns in 'Stinging a Sweetheart' with a bizarre bee-themed plan. Her final episode, 'The Moblins Are Revolting,' pits her against both Link and Ganon’s forces in this chaotic free-for-all. What’s cool about her is how she’s this entirely original character—no game counterpart—yet she fits right into the show’s goofy tone. Her voice actor totally commits to the role, too, with this over-the-top Valley Girl vibe. Honestly, those episodes are worth watching just for her alone; she’s like a walking meme before memes were a thing. I kinda wish modern Zelda media took risks like that again.

Oh, Zelda Zanders! She’s this quirky side character from the old 'Legend of Zelda' cartoon, and honestly, I love how chaotic she is. She’s in three episodes total, and each time, she’s up to some new ridiculous scheme. The first one’s 'The White Knight,' where she pretends to be a damsel in distress to rob Link blind—spoiler: it doesn’t work. Then there’s 'Stinging a Sweetheart,' where she tries to kidnap Princess Zelda by disguising herself as a bee queen? Yeah, it’s as weird as it sounds. Finally, 'The Moblins Are Revolting' gives her a team-up with Ganon’s goons, and it’s pure slapstick gold.

What’s wild is how different she is from game Zelda. This version’s all sass and failed villainy, like a Saturday morning cartoon version of Harley Quinn. The show’s not exactly high art, but her episodes are the ones I rewatch most. They’re just fun, you know? That era of animation had such a specific charm—overacting, exaggerated poses, the works. If you’re nostalgic for that era or just want to see Link deal with a hot mess of a foe, her episodes are a blast.

Zelda Zanders is this super underrated character from 'The Legend of Zelda' animated series that aired way back in the late '80s. She only popped up in a handful of episodes, but man, did she leave an impression! I think she first shows up in Episode 5, 'The White Knight,' where she’s this glamorous, scheming princess trying to outwit Link. Then she reappears in Episode 8, 'Stinging a Sweetheart,' with this whole honey trap plot—classic '80s cartoon villainy. Her last hurrah is Episode 13, 'The Moblins Are Revolting,' where she teams up with the Moblins in this chaotic heist. It’s a shame she didn’t get more screen time; her dynamic with Link was hilarious, all flirty one second and backstabbing the next. I still dig out my old VHS tapes just to watch her scenes.

Funny thing is, Zelda Zanders isn’t even in the games! She’s purely an anime-original character, which makes her even more special to me. The way she’s written feels like this weird mix of 'Dangerous Seductress' and 'Comic Relief,' which totally fits the over-the-top tone of the show. If you’re into retro animation or Zelda deep cuts, she’s worth checking out—just don’t expect her to act like any Zelda you’ve met in Hyrule.
