Honestly? Skip the audiobook for this one. I tried it and felt the format did a disservice to Süskind’s prose. The writing in 'Perfume' is so dense and lyrical, packed with olfactory detail that you need to sit with on the page. Hearing it read aloud, even well, made it feel rushed and oddly clinical to me. Maybe it’s just personal preference.
That said, if you’re dead set on it, I think Spotify Premium has it included in some regions now—no extra cost beyond the subscription. Quality was fine, but I ended up switching back to my paperback halfway through.

Audible has it. Narrated by Sean Barrett, I think. His performance is solid, captures the 18th-century France setting well. The production is clean, no weird background music or sound effects to distract from the story. If you have a subscription credit, that’s probably the easiest route.

Man, I was just looking for this last week! You’ve got a few decent options. Check your local library app first—Libby or Hoopla. They often have 'Perfume: The Story of a Murderer' available for free. If you want to own it, Audible’s the obvious one, but I found the narration on Google Play Books to be surprisingly good for this one, maybe a bit cheaper. The audiobook really leans into the grotesque, sensory descriptions; the reader’s voice gets that creepy, detached tone of Grenouille just right.
Word of caution: some of the older CD versions floating around on eBay or secondhand shops are abridged, so double-check the runtime. The full version is around 13 hours. Listening to it makes the whole experience of the book even more intense, like you’re literally smelling the scenes unfold.

Will they walk away… or give in?
Billionaire CEO Damien Voss hasn’t slept peacefully in three years — not since the car accident that broke him.
When his assistant drapes a forgotten lavender-and-strawberry scented blanket over him, Damien finally finds rest… until the precious scent is washed away forever.
Desperate and unraveling, he turns to the blanket’s owner: Liora Kane, his assistant’s younger sister.
With a single threat her brother’s job or her compliance Damien forces Liora into a contract: eight hours per night in his bed, nothing more. Her days remain her own. Six months only.
He tells himself he is being reasonable. He only needs her scent to sleep. Nothing else.
But Damien Voss was once the city’s most sought-after bachelor tall, devastatingly handsome, and powerfully built. Even after the accident, his striking looks and commanding presence remain. And though he has never been with a woman, he quickly learns how to use every inch of his body to seduce the innocent woman lying beside him.
Night after night, Liora lies stiff beside the domineering CEO as he buries his face in her neck, inhaling her like a drug. What begins as clinical necessity slowly turns carnal. His touches grow bolder. His hips start to rock against her in the dark. He rubs himself against her thigh or stomach until he shudders and spills in his boxers, whispering filthy praises against her skin while she fights the unwanted heat building inside her.
The contract promised safety.
It promised only eight hours and nothing sexual unless she consents.
Yet Damien’s obsession deepens with every shared breath. Jealousy ignites. Possession takes hold.
And Liora finds herself dangerously seduced by the broken, beautiful man who needs her more than air a man willing to break every rule to make her crave him.

I checked a couple of places for you. I don't think there's an official audiobook for 'I Like Your Pheromones' yet. I remember searching for it a few months back because I wanted to listen during my commute, but no luck on Audible or the usual big platforms. Maybe it's a rights thing, or the publisher hasn't greenlit it.
There is a pretty popular fan-made audio drama adaptation floating around on some Chinese audio platforms, though. It's not a straight audiobook reading—it's fully voiced with sound effects, almost like a radio play. The quality is surprisingly high for a fan project. That might be the closest thing available right now if you're really craving an auditory version.
It's a shame because the novel's dialogue and those tense, sweet moments between Duan Jiaxing and Ji Nuo would translate so well to audio. I'd love to hear a professional narrator tackle it.
This is a fun little hunt — I've actually gone looking for runtimes like this while deciding what to listen to on a long train ride. Availability and length for 'Perfume of the Murderer' can vary depending on the edition: some audiobooks are abridged, some unabridged, and different narrators or publishers sometimes split things differently.
From my experience with similar mystery novels, unabridged modern mysteries often land somewhere between 6 and 12 hours, while a shorter novella or a heavily abridged release could be 2–4 hours. If you want the exact number, the quickest ways I check are Audible, Google Play Books, or my library app (Libby/OverDrive) — they always list total runtime on the book page. Also keep in mind playback speed: listening at 1.25x or 1.5x shaves a lot of time without losing the voice work.
If you tell me which platform you plan to use (Audible, Libby, etc.), I can walk you through exactly where to find the runtime on that site or app. Otherwise, plan for roughly a half-day to a full-day of listening for an unabridged mystery, and enjoy the detective vibes on the commute!
Book hunting feels like a treasure chase, especially when I want both text and audio versions. My go-to move is checking platforms like Audible first—they often bundle eBooks with audiobooks for a discount if you own one format. I also swear by Libby, the library app; it's magical how many titles offer 'Read & Listen' options for free with a library card. Sometimes, I'll even peek at the publisher's website—big names like Penguin Random House list audiobook availability right on the book's page.
A sneaky trick? Searching 'title + audiobook' on YouTube. Some creators upload free samples or full narrations (though legality varies). And don't sleep on indie authors! Many self-published writers on platforms like Kobo or Google Play include audio versions now. It's wild how much easier it's gotten to switch between reading and listening mid-story—I burned through 'Project Hail Mary' that way, flipping formats during commutes.
