My method's a bit different. I hunt on Tumblr. A lot of writers will post snippets or links to their crossovers on sideblogs devoted to specific pairings. Search tags like '#las crossover' or '#legolas aragorn fusion' and you'll sometimes strike gold with a writer who's posted a draft on Google Docs. The quality varies wildly, but the community feel is stronger.
There's also this one Discord server for Tolkien rare pairs that has a channel for recs. Someone linked a 'Star Wars' crossover where Legolas was basically a Jedi and Aragorn a rogue Mandalorian. It was utterly bizarre but weirdly compelling for ten chapters before it died.
You gotta be willing to dig through abandoned WIPs, though. So many promising crossovers just... stop.
The whole 'where's the crossover stuff' hunt is actually pretty frustrating, honestly. Archive of Our Own has a decent amount if you sift hard enough, but tags are messy—people forget to tag crossovers half the time. I once spent an hour reading a 'The Witcher' crossover because someone just tagged it 'elves' and 'swords'.
Your best shot is probably on dedicated Tolkien fanfic sites, like 'The Lord of the Rings Fanfiction' forum. They've got a crossover section, and stuff there is more likely to be archived older works that never made it to AO3. Some wild 'Dragon Age' mixes pop up there.
Don't sleep on FF.net either; filter for 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Crossover' in the categories, then search within for 'Legolas' and 'Aragorn.' The search function is a nightmare, but the sheer volume means there are gems buried. Found a solid 'Silmarillion' crossover there that basically had them meet their own ancestors.
Honestly, most of what I've found is kinda niche—like, it's either modern AUs with fantasy elements from another 'verse slapped on, or they're just visiting another world for three paragraphs. The truly integrated ones are rare.
AO3's filtered search is your strongest tool. Start with the 'The Lord of the Rings' fandom tag, then add the 'Crossover' tag. Use the 'Relationship' filter for 'Aragorn/Legolas.' Sort by kudos or bookmarks, not date. That'll surface the known good ones, like that popular 'Merlin' crossover series where they're reincarnated knights. It bypasses a lot of the tagging issues other platforms have.

He pressed him against the door, breath hot, voice ragged.
“If you don’t want this… tell me to stop.”
A pause. A heartbeat.
“I can’t.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some obsessions aren’t meant to be touched.
Some men aren’t meant to be loved.
And some desires don’t care.
This collection isn’t about perfect love. It’s about the one you weren’t supposed to want—
Another man.
Your brother’s best friend.
Your enemy’s son.
Your professor.
Your fake fiancé.
The man who shouldn’t look at you like that. The man you can’t stop wanting.
Every story is a man falling for another man when he shouldn’t—and doing it anyway.
Fast-paced, emotionally sharp, and dangerously seductive, every story in Burnt Offerings dives headfirst into the hunger we deny, the rules we break, and the lovers we were warned to stay away from.
Some affairs stay in the dark. Others start wildfires.
This isn't a love story.
It's all the ones you swore you’d never tell.
All of them about men who should have walked away from each other… but didn’t.
"What happens when you meet a tall and handsome elf king who has saved your life but kill your temper?"
"I'm more of a man in this house. Why can't you let me be on top?" Sean asked with a pout.
Oswin groaned, rolling his eyes and wondering just how much more innocent Sean could be. "It takes a heavy responsibility to be the top," he replied.
"Responsibility? Then it's perfect. I'm making more money, cooking,..."
"Sean. I'm talking about things like stretching and penetrating," Oswin explained as he ignored the bulge in his pants. "Do you even have experience?”
“Then teach me, your majesty.”
“With pleasure.”
~*~*~*~
It all starts when the elf king, Oswin Alvingham, mysteriously gets stuck in the human realm and loses his powers. As he roams the unfamiliar一dirty and low class if he is to describe Earth, he stumbles into Sean Cooper, a fresh graduate, and a full-time table-waiter, who gets bullied in the alley. Though Oswin's magical power is lost, his physical strength remains invincible. When he rescues Sean, the latter decides to take him in as gratitude. And that is where the mess begins. How can the king of the elf cope with his new life? How can Sean convince himself not to be evil enough to kick his savor out of his house? Most importantly, how do an average mortal and the noble upper-class immortal live together under the same roof and on the same bed?
P.S:
1) This book contains mature and explicit 18+ scenes.
2) It also contains little graphic violence in some chapters, but I'll put a warning on the top of those chapters.
3) The ELF here is inspired by Lord of The Ring Series. Therefore, they are tall, slender and beautiful. Not tiny little beings like in children fairy tales.]
“I thought you wanted to sleep, my Queen,” Lorcan whispered.
“I changed my mind,” Niamh kissed Lorcan again, deeply, hungrily. “Besides, you owe me a
wedding night.”
“I stand reminded,” Lorcan bowed his head. Looking up, he grasped Niamh around the waist and turned to lay her beneath him, kissing her passionately.
***
Niamh had dutifully fulfilled her obligation to marry King Lorcan of the Elven Realms, only to
watch her new husband ride off to battle the very next day.
But he was lost in battle, and she was left to face her new role as Queen among haters, admirers, and potential suitors… and a traitor.
Despite the challenges she formed new alliances, treaties, and friends, and, once the King was found, they built an unshakable love while facing turmoil.
Once free to leave, what choice will she make? Will the love they formed be strong
enough to endure more than time?
Rising Storm in the Elven Realms is created by Heather Dilts-Baiano, an eGlobal Creative
Found that exact kind of thing myself a few months back when I got fixated on what Middle-earth would look like if the Fellowship got dumped somewhere like Thedas or Tamriel. AO3 is obviously your first stop—their tag system is a lifesaver. You’ll want to filter for 'Legolas/Aragorn' (or 'Aragorn/Legolas', depending on perspective) and then add additional fandom tags like 'The Witcher' or 'Dragon Age' for crossovers. Don’t just stick to the obvious high fantasy; some of the most interesting takes blend with sci-fi or modern settings, like a 'Star Trek' crossover where they're officers on a starship. It forces their dynamic into completely new territory.
Honestly, a lot of the real gems are buried in older archives that predate AO3’s dominance. The Henneth Annûn Story Archive, while strictly Tolkien-focused, sometimes hosts crossover entries in its challenge communities. A more obscure tip: check out author profiles on AO3 of writers who’ve done one good crossover you liked. They often have bookmarks or works in other fandoms that use similar world-blending mechanics, even if the pairing isn’t front and center. My favorite was a fusion with 'The Elder Scrolls' where Legolas was a Bosmer and Aragorn a Breton noble; the political intrigue gave their slow-burn a whole new edge.
I went on a deep dive for Legolas/Aragorn epics a while back and 'Of the Sun and Stars' is still unmatched for sheer scale. It reimagines their journey if Aragorn had gone to Mirkwood after his ranger days, weaving in so much First and Second Age lore that it feels like a proper Tolkien appendix. The prose isn't trying to mimic the books, which I appreciate—it's its own thing, with battles that are genuinely strategic and politics that feel weighty.
I see it mentioned less now, maybe because it's older and huge, but it nails the 'epic adventure' brief. The relationship develops slowly against the backdrop of a war with a new enemy in the north, and the author really understands the geography of Middle-earth, which makes the travel chapters compelling instead of tedious. My only gripe is that the ending feels a bit rushed compared to the meticulous build-up, but the journey there is absolutely worth it.
