If you’re hunting Mela down for completionist reasons, focus on Chapter 3 onward. She’s first fought near Elaice Highway, but her presence lingers in cutscenes and later battles. I remember grinding a bit before facing her because her Arts hit like a truck. Pro tip: equip some Agility-boosting gems to dodge her AoE attacks. Her character model’s so distinct—those glowing red accents make her stand out even in chaotic fights.
Mela's one of those characters who pops up when you least expect her in 'Xenoblade Chronicles 3,' and tracking her down can feel like a mini-adventure. She’s part of the Consul group, so you’ll encounter her during key story moments, especially in Chapter 3 and beyond. The first major showdown happens in the Erythia Sea region—specifically near the Elaice Highway landmark. Her boss fight is no joke, so make sure your party’s leveled up!
After that, she reappears in later chapters, usually tied to Colony 0 events. If you’re exploring thoroughly, you might stumble into her during side content, too. I love how her design contrasts with the game’s usual aesthetic—those sharp angles and that eerie voice really stick with you.
Look for Mela during the Erythia Sea arc in Chapter 3. Her boss fight near Elaice Highway is a highlight—challenging but fair. Later, she’s involved in Colony 0’s storyline, so keep an eye out for her signature red glow. I adore her mechanical design; it’s like a blend of elegance and menace. Bonus: her theme music slaps.
Mela’s a Consul, so she’s woven into the main plot. Check Erythia Sea around Chapter 3. Her fights are brutal but satisfying—perfect for testing your team’s synergy. Don’t skip the cutscenes; her dialogue adds layers to the game’s themes.
Mela’s tied to the Consuls’ arc, so she’ll find you as the story progresses. First encounter’s near Elaice Highway—bring your A-game. Her reappearances later keep the tension high. Fun detail: her voice actor nails the mix of cold authority and lurking madness.

#BOOK 2
“You are… A Dryad too..” Lilly gasped and closed her gaping mouth with her palm.
“Yea… I thought I was the only one too…” He chuckled.
“So where are you from? I've been exploring this forest for years now. But I never met one like you…” He tilted his head. Made her nervous.
Lilly gulped. She didn’t want to trust anyone this early. She learns her lesson. Even though the man in front of her is the same creature as her. She can’t just say everything to him.
But, she didn't know how to lie in this situation, either.
“I… I come from Theta…” She whispered. But he can hear her.
“Theta? That werewolf and Lycan Realm?” He frowned.
Lilly bopped her head. She thought that she might be in danger already. But then, she saw a smile across his face.
“So, you are a hybrid too… Lycan… or..”
“Werewolf,” Lilly answered him quickly.
His smile only gets wider. She could see those tiny little fangs in his mouth.
Wait… What is he, then?
“You…”
“Me? I came from Valoria Realm… I'm half vampire…”

Mela is one of those characters that really makes you work for it, but oh man, is she worth it! To recruit her, you'll need to progress through the main story until you reach Chapter 17, 'The Fell Dragon’s Table.' Here, she appears as an enemy unit. Unlike some other characters, you can't just defeat her and expect her to join—you need to have Emblem Corrin equipped on one of your units. Use Corrin’s 'Draconic Hex' ability to weaken Mela, then have Alear or another high-charisma unit talk to her. It’s a bit finicky, but the dialogue options matter! Make sure you’ve built up support points with her during prior battles where she appeared as an NPC.
One thing I love about 'Fire Emblem Engage' is how it rewards patience and strategy. Mela’s recruitment isn’t just about brute force; it’s about understanding the game’s mechanics. If you miss her in Chapter 17, don’t panic—she’ll reappear in later chapters, but the conditions get trickier. I messed up my first playthrough and had to backtrack, so save often! Also, her supports with other characters, especially the Emblems, add so much depth to her personality. She’s a fiery (pun intended) addition to any team.
the character roster keeps expanding in such exciting ways! From what I've seen, Mela isn't currently playable—though I wish she were, because her design in promotional art totally gives off 'future 5-star pyro archer' vibes. The game's teases about upcoming regions like Natlan make me wonder if she’ll pop up there, given its fiery themes.
For now, though, I’m content theorizing with fellow fans about which voice actor might fit her. The community’s passion for unreleased characters is half the fun; every leak or snippet sends us into a frenzy. Maybe HoYoverse is just waiting for the perfect story moment to drop her!
