While SAO's combat system revolves around sword skills with precise timing, Haven introduces magic-tech hybrids where players craft their own abilities. SAO's villain system is more centralized with Kayaba, while Haven's threats emerge dynamically from world events or even other players. Both have romance subplots, but Haven integrates relationships into faction politics way deeper. If you want high-stakes battles, go SAO. For emergent storytelling, Haven wins.
