Are There Any KGI Novellas And Where Do They Fit In The Series Order?
As someone new to Karluk, Grint, and Irene’s journey, I’m trying to map out all the side stories. Where do the KGI novellas slot into the main series reading order?

The library is your best bet for these. Anthologies are expensive to buy for one story, but libraries often have them in their digital catalogs (Libby, Hoopla). That's how I read most of the KGI novellas without spending a fortune. Just search for the anthology titles mentioned on the fan sites. It's a bit of legwork, but it's cost-effective.

The publication history is key. The novellas written and released later in the series' life tend to be stronger and more integrated. The early ones feel like afterthoughts, while something like 'Deacon's Promise' feels essential to his character arc in the main books. So, their quality and relevance within the series order isn't uniform. The later they were published, the more likely they are to feel like a vital part of the tapestry.

The pacing in the novellas is noticeably different. They're quick, focused, and often have a more condensed emotional arc. If you're in a reading slump and the thought of a 400-page suspense novel is daunting, a KGI novella can be the perfect pick-me-up. You get the same writing style and beloved characters in a compact, satisfying package that you can finish in an evening.

You think I care about titles?” he asked, stepping even closer until I could feel the heat radiating from him. “Do you think that matters to me?”
“It should,” I said, my voice breaking slightly. “It matters to me.”
He tilted his head slightly, studying me. "Why? Why does it matter so much to you?"
“Because,” I said quickly, searching for the right words. “Because people like me... we don’t belong with people like you. You’re... you’re powerful, and I’m—”
“Beautiful,” he cut me off, his voice firm.
I froze, my words dying on my lips. “What?” I whispered.
“You’re beautiful, Sophia,” he said again, his tone softer this time. “And I’m tired of pretending I don’t notice it. You think being a maid defines you, but it doesn’t. Not to me.”
***This is the third book in the series***
I lost the girl, the love of my life.
I lost my family.
Now I’m lost.
I thought after the war for Riocht, life would get back to normal.
I was so very, very wrong.
Kellen, now King of the werewolves, thought after Lamia and Mathias claimed the throne and became the King and Queen of shifters, life would go on as normal. That he would rule his kingdom and search for his own mate and live happily ever after.
There was still so much to do. He still hadn’t completely taken control of his position as King, leaving his father’s Beta and Delta in charge. Kingdoms and packs still needed to be repaired; he still needed to be officially crowned.
And he still needed to grieve the death of his parents.
Kellen wakes up to find himself on a boat, going to Goddess knows where and the last thing he remembers is saying goodbye to Lamia and heading home with Mike.
When he finds himself in a strange land, sold to a bloody thirsty Alpha and his deranged Luna, for their packs entertainment, his title, means nothing. A man who cares only for three things; the games, the money, and blood; the more shed the better.
While Lamia and Mike search for him on the wrong continent Kellen is thrust into the Gladiator games. Kellen fights for his survival and the lives of many, including one beautiful girl who has captured his heart and has been promised to another as their chosen mate.
Can Kellen survive the Gladiator games when the odds are stacked against him, save the people and claim the mate the moon goddess promised him?

If you hate feeling like you've missed something, start from the beginning. If you're the type who doesn't mind piecing together backstory as you go, start anywhere. It really comes down to personal preference in consuming series. I have friends in both camps. The 'must read in order' camp enjoys the deep immersion. The 'jump in anywhere' camp enjoys the freedom and treats each book as its own experience. Neither approach is incorrect, as the books are written to accommodate both styles to some degree. Try one from the middle and see how you feel. You can always backtrack if you crave more context.
They're skippable. There, I said it. The core seven-book arc is complete and satisfying on its own. The novellas are for superfans who can't let go. Their placement is academic. If you love the world, you'll eventually read them and find where they fit. If you're lukewarm on the series, they won't change your mind. Don't feel pressured by completionist guilt.
