Is Kindle Unlimited Worth It In 2023?

Kindle Unlimited is one of those services that really depends on how you use it. If you're someone who plows through books like there's no tomorrow, it can be a total game-changer. For a flat monthly fee, you get access to over a million titles, including a ton of indie gems and niche genres that you might not stumble upon otherwise. I've discovered some of my favorite authors purely because their books were included in the catalog, and that alone makes it worth it for me. But if you mostly stick to bestsellers or newly released titles from big-name publishers, you might find the selection a bit lacking since those often aren't part of the Unlimited library.

Another thing to consider is how much you value convenience. I love being able to download a book instantly, especially when I'm traveling or just in the mood for something new. The ability to switch between titles without worrying about individual costs is a huge plus. That said, if you're the type who rereads favorites or prefers to own physical copies, the subscription might not feel as valuable. It's also worth noting that not every book stays in the program forever—titles rotate in and out, so if you're eyeing something specific, it might not always be available. All in all, I think it's a fantastic deal for voracious readers, but casual readers might not get enough out of it to justify the cost.
