This question is about whether Kuzan, a former Marine Admiral has become part of the Blackbeard team yet or not. It can be seen as both a cliffhanger and curious topic started by Eiichiro Oda in his masterpiece "One Piece".What makes one with morals herself mixed in with these scum of pirates?

Despite the lack of clear reasoning in comic, we are convinced that Kuzan is up to some form of espionage. Maybe this is his own motive, or maybe he and friend have silently agreed on a secret plan within their organization.Figures like Blackbeard are definitely not above the kind of attention which they deserve.Having said this, we must wait for Oda to sort out these thoughts for us.

However, in Kuzan joining up with Blackbeard though the manga says nothing about how a man of his character got on board a notorious pirate's ship we must assume that there are reasons for him joining and they will probably be selfish reasons rather than villainous ones.

After leaving the Navy, his sense of justice is still there. Torturing people is not 'Justice'. It might be a secret operation, or one to keep an eye on Blackbeard or else to navigate around some bigger plot altogether. But we don't know that yet. We can only watch and see how Mr. Oda untangles these tangly threads.

Why though sometimes the course plots of 'One Piece can really make you scratch your head! Blackbeard unwittingly teaming up with Kuzan, former Marine Admiral, is a real shock, isn't it? The precise reasoning behind Kuzan's decision still remains a riddle to be cracked, but among the popular theories, perhaps the most likely possibility is that he has turned his coat either independently or under orders so as to keep watch on Blackbeard.

Given Kuzan's sense of duty to improve society, it's difficult to imagine that he would simply put his lot in with the wrong side. His decision may well be part of something more complex. That's the beauty of Oda's storytelling, always leaving us with the feeling that we want more.
