I was browsing through my collection of obscure indie comics the other day when I stumbled upon 'Thrump-O-Moto' again. It's this quirky little sci-fi adventure that feels like a mix between 'Akira' and 'FLCL,' but with way more neon robots. The edition I have is the 2017 print by RetroPress, and it clocks in at a solid 148 pages. What's cool is how dense it feels—every panel is packed with wild background details and these tiny visual gags you only catch on a second read. The story moves fast, too, so even though it's not a doorstopper, it doesn't waste a single page. I love how the artist uses the limited space to cram in so much personality, from the protagonist's ridiculous helmet designs to the blink-and-you-miss-it cameos by other indie comic characters. It's the kind of book where you flip to a random page and immediately get sucked into some bizarre subplot about sentient toaster villains.
Honestly, the page count feels perfect for what it's trying to do. Any longer, and the hyperactive energy might've worn thin; any shorter, and we'd miss out on the weird world-building. The last 20 pages especially go full throttle with a climax that involves a guitar solo played on a laser harp. I've loaned my copy to three friends already, and every time I get it back, there's a new dent in the spine from someone reading it in one sleepless sitting.
'Thrump-O-Moto' is 148 pages of pure chaos, and I mean that in the best way possible. The first time I read it, I kept expecting the story to slow down, but nope—it's like being on a roller coaster where the tracks keep changing. The compact length works because the art does half the storytelling; you could probably remove all the dialogue and still follow the madness. My favorite spread is pages 86–87, where the main character rides a rocket-powered unicycle through a collapsing dimension. The whole thing feels like the creative team dared each other to make the silliest possible choices, and it somehow became genius.

“I’m going to turn every dirty page you’ve ever read into your reality, Teyana.”
And Jeremy Carter did.
~
It started with a simple party dare and ended with my legs wrapped around the ever-addictive Jeremy Carter’s waist.
I never thought the boy who never noticed the nerdy me in high school, the emotionally unavailable biker god I’d secretly fantasized about, would become my stepbrother.
Or that I would find a naked painting of myself hidden in his closet — painted by his own twisted hands.
Jeremy is inked sin, raw dominance, and a filthy mouth.
I was just the quiet, virgin bookworm, that took solace in dark romance novels… until he dragged me into his dangerous world of racing, rage, and ruin.
I should run. I should regret it.
But when a man like Jeremy Carter kisses you, there’s no coming back.
But what happened when family, friends, and even the campus tried to pull us apart?
This is the story of how I got ruined by the one man I might never have… and how I let him.
The small town of Pine Creek was supposed to be a safe haven, a quiet town to live out the rest of my high school days.
I never thought I’d run into him.
Aston Chadwick, the arrogant biker leader of The Shadow Ryders.
Arrogant, untamable, wild.
He is temptation and lust wrapped in pure leather; so seductive, he is the secret fantasy of every girl in Pine Creek and he knows it.
I was just the new girl, sassy and naïve. He could have any girl in town, but I’ve become his latest obsession.
The playboy prince of Pine Creek wants to dominate me.
I am just as addicted to him.
But even I cannot tame his wildness.
He’s the only boy I shouldn’t have. He’ll drag me over the edge with him.
Yet, our race has only just begun.
Welcome to Pine Creek!
His Biker Girl
I swore I’d never get tangled up with bikers. Then I met him.
Jaxson “Viper” Kane, the ruthless prince of the Black Serpents.
Arrogant. Untouchable. Dangerous.
Every girl on campus wants him, but not me.
He thought I’d be easy to break.
He was wrong.
Her Biker Prince
She’s fire wrapped in leather, and every time she rides, she tempts me closer to the edge.
Tessa Monroe, bold, defiant, impossible to control.
I wanted to crush her pride, ruin that ego, make her beg.
But the more I chase her, the more I burn.
She’s the one thing I shouldn’t want.
And the only thing I’ll never let go.
I pulled 'The Hippo Hop' off my shelf the other day—such a vibrant, fun cover! It's a children's picture book, and while page counts can vary by edition, mine clocks in at 32 pages. That's pretty standard for the genre, honestly. Picture books often stick to 24, 32, or 40 pages because of printing conventions. This one’s got those thick, glossy pages perfect for little hands, and the story’s rhythm makes it a blast to read aloud. I love how the illustrations spill across every page, almost like the hippos are dancing right out of the margins.
If you’re hunting for a copy, check the publisher’s website or indie bookstores—they sometimes list specs. But honestly, the magic isn’t in the page count; it’s in how the story bounces along. My niece demands it on repeat, and I never mind because the art’s so full of joy. Absolute gem for bedtime giggles.
