I’m a huge fan of detective stories, and the 'Hi Five' series by Joe Ide is one of my favorites. Right now, there are two books: 'Hi Five' and 'Smoke'. The first one is a clever, fast-paced mystery with a protagonist who’s both brilliant and flawed. The second book digs into his past, adding layers to his character. The series is short but packed with action and heart. I’d love to see more adventures with Isaiah Quintabe—he’s a character that sticks with you long after the last page.
I can confidently say the 'Hi Five' series is a compact but thrilling ride. Written by Joe Ide, this detective series currently has two volumes: 'Hi Five' and 'Smoke'. The first book introduces us to Isaiah Quintabe, a genius PI who gets tangled in a case involving a woman with multiple personalities. The sequel, 'Smoke', dives deeper into Isaiah's past and his relentless pursuit of justice. Both books are packed with sharp wit, complex characters, and a gritty urban vibe that keeps you hooked. If you're into mysteries with a unique twist, this series is a hidden gem worth exploring.
I love how Joe Ide blends humor and hard-boiled detective work in these books. The way Isaiah navigates the chaotic world of crime feels fresh and unpredictable. While there are only two volumes so far, the depth of storytelling makes it feel much richer. Fans of the series are eagerly waiting for more, and if you haven’t started yet, now’s the perfect time to jump in.
The 'Hi Five' series is a standout in modern detective fiction, and it’s a shame there aren’t more books yet. Currently, there are two volumes: 'Hi Five' and 'Smoke'. The first book is a wild ride with Isaiah Quintabe solving a case involving a woman with dissociative identity disorder. The sequel takes a darker turn, exploring Isaiah’s backstory and his relentless quest for justice. Joe Ide’s writing is sharp and engaging, making both books hard to put down. The series deserves more attention, and I hope we get a third installment soon. If you enjoy crime novels with a unique protagonist and fast-paced plots, these are must-reads.
The 'Hi Five' series has two volumes so far: 'Hi Five' and 'Smoke'. Both are gripping detective novels featuring Isaiah Quintabe, a PI with a knack for solving impossible cases. As an avid follower of the 'Hi Five' series, I've been eagerly tracking any updates about the next installment. The latest news from the publisher suggests that the release date for the next novel is tentatively set for early next year, around February or March. The author has been quite active on social media, dropping hints about the plot, which seems to revolve around a new mystery involving the core group of characters. The anticipation is real, especially after the cliffhanger in the last book.
Fans like me are speculating about potential twists, given the author's knack for unexpected turns. The publisher has also mentioned that pre-orders might open by the end of this year, so keeping an eye on their official announcements is key. The wait feels endless, but knowing the author's dedication to quality, it’ll be worth it. I’ve already marked my calendar and plan to binge-read it the moment it drops.
I can tell you that the number of volumes in a series can really shape the experience. For instance, 'The Wheel of Time' by Robert Jordan has a whopping 14 main novels, not counting the prequel. That's a massive commitment, but fans love the depth it offers. On the other hand, 'The Broken Empire' trilogy by Mark Lawrence is just three books, perfect for those who want a complete story without a decade-long wait.
Then there's 'The Stormlight Archive' by Brandon Sanderson, which is planned for 10 books but only has 4 out so far. It's exciting to follow along as each new volume drops. Some series, like 'The Kingkiller Chronicle' by Patrick Rothfuss, keep fans waiting forever for the next installment—currently at 2 books with no end in sight. The length of a series can really influence whether I dive in or wait until it's done.
