On the eve of Thanksgiving, I stumbled across a post online.
"Selling an online girlfriend—5'7", 100 pounds, absolute knockout. We already agreed to meet at Aureline Hotel. She's a virgin too. Just transfer me 8000."
At first, I thought it was some ridiculous troll post, but when I clicked in, I realized the guy was serious. Quite a few men in the comments had already messaged him privately.
My stomach churned, and I exited the post in disgust.
Right then, a message came in from my long-distance boyfriend, Hayden Clarke.
"Naomi, you don't need to pick me up at the station. Just go straight to Aureline Hotel, Room 1008."
I could not stop thinking about the post I had just seen, so I went back and read it carefully again.
That was when I realized the "online girlfriend" they were talking about… was me.
Before I could even reply to Hayden, I received a threatening text from his female best friend instead.
"You slut! You're the reason Hayden ditched us on Thanksgiving! Tell me, where are you two going?!"
I quirked a brow in response.
This was not the first time his so-called best friend had tried to ruin our dates.
But since she was so desperate to know, the big surprise Hayden had prepared would just have to be saved for her instead.
On the company's designated monthly day off, Gigi Lott, Donald Hoover's secretary, posted an Instagram story.
The caption read, "So what if you're the boss of me when we're at work during the day? At night, I'm the one on top!"
In the photo, she was lying atop a water bed covered in rose petals, and the usually stern Donald was kneeling down to massage her feet for her. From his pocket hung a brand new golden necklace.
Just that morning, I bought several gold bars and gave them to Donald while beseeching him to make our relationship public.
He happily took the locket from me, but when I tried to take a photo of us with our phone, he smacked my phone out of my hands, smashing it into pieces.
With a look of pure derision, he declared, "Why don't you take a good look at yourself in the mirror first? You really are a motherless wretch who wasn't raised right. Look at the lengths you'd go to just to ruin me!"
Throughout the last five years, I had meekly gone along with his demand that we keep our relationship a secret, claiming it was because office romances were forbidden. But now, I was abruptly hit with the realization of how laughable it all was.
The next day, I sent my father a message. "I admit defeat. I'm willing to come home and inherit the family business."
After connecting to a call hosted on a treasure-appraisal livestream, I find out that the "Fields of Freedom" stamp my grandpa has left me with is worth 10 million dollars.
I've been troubled as to how I should afford my upcoming wedding with my girlfriend, Danielle Dalton. Delighted by the news, I call Danielle to tell her about it.
Unexpectedly, Danielle, who's always such a prude about physical contact to the point that she refuses to let me kiss her, turns up on my doorstep that night. She spends the night draining me of my stamina with her skills and body.
When I wake up once again, both Danielle and my stamp are gone.
I visit Danielle's home to get my stamp back. But her father instantly shoves me out of the door angrily.
"We don't welcome you here! Get lost right now!"
At first, I thought there was a misunderstanding between us, so I still held back on my rudeness. But when I notice how rude Danielle's father is being to me, I decide to go all out on him.
"Sure, I can leave, but you must return the stamp Danielle has stolen from me—"
Before I can finish speaking, someone has dumped a bucket of ice-cold water onto my face. It turns out that the culprit is Danielle's mother.
As she carries the bucket, she scowls at me, her features completely twisted.
"Who the hell did you claim to have stolen your stamp, huh? Don't you dare run your mouth without any proof! I'll definitely sue you, you know!"
Having realized how vile Danielle's parents actually are, I can't help but feel a strong hint of relief.
Thank goodness I had only shown Danielle a fake copy of the stamp last night.
During the holiday break, my wife, Jayda Glover—the hospital's star surgeon and Chief of Cardiac Surgery—suddenly "had to work overtime." Our third-anniversary hot springs trip? Canceled.
That night, I was scrolling social media when a post from her intern, Dillon Tripp, popped up.
My ice-queen wife always said her "golden hands" were only for patients.
Apparently, they cook now too.
She was in a cartoon apron, calmly chopping vegetables.
The caption read:
[Thank you, Dr. Glover, for personally cooking to comfort me after I was bullied by a patient's family!]
I tapped like and left a comment.
[White coat to apron. Very domestic.]
Ten minutes later, the whole hospital knew Cardiac Surgery's untouchable beauty had broken her rule—just to cook for a younger guy.
Jayda called.
Dishes clattered in the background.
"You really had to embarrass me in public? He got hot water thrown on him by a patient's family today. I was just doing my duty as his mentor!
"A pampered professor's kid like you wouldn't know the first thing about how hard broke med students have it.
"Apologize to Dillon right now. Otherwise, no matter how much you beg later, I'm not going on that trip with you!"
Beg her?
I looked at the divorce papers that had just arrived on the coffee table and let out a quiet laugh.
I wasn't begging anymore.
From this moment on, we were strangers.
Look woman I never begged to be your husband, you gave me that opportunity” Min Jun yelled.
Mei Xing a 22 year old and the only daughter of multi-billionaires is diagnosed with cancer but doesn’t want to go through chemotherapy, with only a year left to live, she wants to explore.
Min Jun a jobless 23 year old, finds himself a jackpot and agrees to be her contracted husband for the money and all the benefits of being with a billionaire’s daughter.
EXCERPT:
“Will you marry me?” Mei Xing asked a stranger she met walking on the streets. “What did you just say?” he said and was about to walk away.
“I will pay you, a hundred thousand dollars, if you be my husband for a year” she said. “A year?” he asked and she nodded.
She scanned through her wardrobe and wore a flowery dress, it wasn’t summer but by summer she might be too sick to wear it. “You only live once, more like a year,"
Min Jun finally arrived in jeans and a polo, “A summery dress in fall” he said as he took his seat. “The deal is I get fifty thousand dollars before we start the arrangement, then after the wedding I get the other half” Min Jun asked and Mei Xing nodded in approval. “You just have to be with me for a year, I probably won’t be alive by the end of the year” she joked. “Do you have some kind of transferable deadly disease. Covid?” he asked her.
“No just cancer” she assured. “So I’m going to be free in a year and you'll be dead” he narrated.
National Girlfriend Day, a day dedicated to honoring and celebrating all the wonderful girlfriends out there, falls every year on August 1st. It's a fantastic time to show some extra affection and appreciation to your partner with a thoughtful surprise or meaningful gift.
What I'm about to discuss is one of my favourite holidays--Girlfriend Day(as known in the U.S.), which falls every August 1st in the calendar year regardless of what day it actually may be (generally in Spring just south of Sunglow).
It is a day to show thanks for your girlfriend—shower her with love, care, and perhaps some small gifts. Plenty of people say that love shouldn't be given just as grand gestures. But really, it's in the countless tiny things you do day by day.
Well, I'm not exactly sure if today is National Girlfriend Day as it officially falls on August 1st each year. This day is all about showing appreciation for the special women in our lives, be it a partner, a best friend, or even a family member. It's all about expressing love and gratitude, so if you have somebody special in your life, every day should be treated like National Girlfriend Day!
