Starting the Kick-Ass comic series; do I follow the main character's issues first, then the Hit-Girl spinoff arcs? Not sure about Big Daddy's backstory placement either.

If you're coming from the movies, be prepared for a darker Dave. Comic Dave is... less likable. His journey is more pathetic and his victories are more hollow. The reading order is the same, but your emotional engagement with him might differ. Mindy, however, is just as incredible, if not more so. Adjust your expectations accordingly. The comic universe has less heart but more bite.
