AO3 is definitely the central archive. The tagging culture there just supports reader-insert fic better than anywhere else. You might find scattered threads on specific character forums or subreddits, but they're usually linking back to AO3 posts. I check my bookmarked authors there weekly for updates.

Honestly, most of the good Rooster fics I've read are on AO3. Wattpad has a ton of them too, but the search function is so bad it's almost useless unless you get a direct link from someone. I found one writer on Tumblr who does amazing moodboards and snippets, then links to the full story on AO3, which is a pretty common pattern.

There's also a niche on Fanfiction.net if you dig, but the format isn't really built for reader-insert stories, so it's less common. For me, AO3 is the main hub—the filters let you sort by kudos or completion status, which saves so much time when you just want a finished, well-liked story.

Rooster x reader stuff exploded last year, and a lot of it's clustered on Archive of Our Own. The tagging system over there is a lifesaver—you can filter for 'Rooster x Reader' and then add a secondary tag for the specific fandom, whether it's the 'Top Gun' movies or something else. Tumblr also has a surprisingly active scene, though it's more fragmented; you follow individual writers' blogs, and a lot of them cross-post their stuff to AO3 anyway. I stumbled onto a few gems on Quotev ages ago, but that site feels quieter now.

If you're into the more interactive, choose-your-own-adventure style reader inserts, apps like Episode or maybe even Dreamily might have some community-created stories, but the quality is a total mixed bag. Honestly, my feed is just AO3 bookmarks at this point. The sheer volume means you can find everything from quick coffee shop AUs to angsty multi-chapter wartime fics, all with that specific dynamic.
