Tumblr’s actually not a bad place if you know how to look. Don’t just search ‘crossover fanfiction’—that’ll get you nowhere. Follow blogs dedicated to one of your main fandoms, and you’ll see reblogs of crossover art and fic snippets. A lot of writers post shorter drabbles or concepts directly there as a teaser, with a ‘read more on AO3’ link. The community vibe helps you find things you wouldn’t by algorithm alone. The downside is it’s more fragmented, you have to be willing to dig. I found this wild 'Haikyuu!!' characters in the 'Attack on Titan' universe piece that way, completely by accident. It shouldn’t work but it kinda does.

Discord servers for specific pairings or fandoms often have dedicated fanfic channels. People share their own work or recommend others’. It’s more word-of-mouth, less about public tagging. I’ve gotten some of my best, most niche recs from small servers where someone goes ‘hey what if we put these two disaster blorbos from different shows in a room’. The signal-to-noise ratio is higher if you’re already in a community with similar tastes.

FF.net still has a massive back catalogue of older crossovers, especially for series that were big in the 2000s and early 2010s. Think 'Naruto' crossed with 'Bleach' or 'Fullmetal Alchemist'. The interface feels ancient and filtering is rough, but there are genuine classics buried there that never got ported to newer sites. I re-read a 'Death Note'/'Code Geass' mind-games epic there just last month. You need patience and a good set of keywords. Sometimes just searching ‘crossover’ and then sorting by favorites or reviews within a fandom category yields results. It’s a different experience—less curated, more of a time capsule, but the scope can be impressive.

I’ve been dipping into crossover stuff for ages, and honestly? The biggest concentration I see is on Archive of Our Own. Their tagging system is a lifesaver when you’re hunting for something specific like 'My Hero Academia' meets 'Jujutsu Kaisen'. You can filter by fandom, characters, even the type of crossover. The quality ranges from pure, unadulterated crack treated seriously to these epic novel-length things that completely rework the worlds.
A lot of writers on Tumblr also post links to their AO3 works, so following tags there can lead to some great finds. Wattpad has them too, but the search is way messier—you kinda have to wade through a lot to find the gems. I’d start on AO3, get a feel for the authors you like, and then see if they’re active elsewhere. My current obsession is a 'Demon Slayer' and 'Kimetsu no Yaiba'... wait, that’s the same thing. I’m tired. A 'Demon Slayer' and 'Inuyasha' fusion that just gets the atmosphere of both series so right.

Elina thought she had hit rock bottom.
She lost her job. Her therapy session dredged up memories of the ex-boyfriend who stalked and traumatized her. The only thing she had left to look forward to was the finale of her favorite fantasy series, Moonbound Faith.
Then the show ended.
The heroes won. The villain died. Everyone got their happily-ever-after.
That same night, a knock at her door shatters what little peace she has left.
Her ex is standing outside.
The man who was supposed to be in prison.
Forced to flee into a storm, Elina runs until she reaches the edge of a cliff with nowhere left to go. Faced with a choice between death and returning to the man who destroyed her life, she jumps.
But instead of dying, she wakes up inside Moonbound Faith.
Not as the heroine.
Not as a side character.
But as Luna—the infamous villainess whose tragic death she celebrated only hours before.
Determined to survive, Elina plans to use her knowledge of the story to change her fate. But everything she thought she knew begins to unravel when a small boy tugs on her sleeve and calls her one word:
“Mom.”
The original story never mentioned a child.
And when Elina uncovers the truth behind his existence, she realizes something terrifying.
The villainess was never the villain.
The story lied.
And the ending she remembers may not be the ending waiting for her at all.
Man, it really depends on what 'best' means to you—are you looking for high-traffic fics that get recommended a lot, or those weird niche gems that are surprisingly good? The usual suspects like Archive of Our Own (AO3) and FanFiction.net are obvious starting points. AO3's tagging system is your friend here; you can filter by fandom and then sort by kudos or bookmarks. But honestly, some of the most interesting crossovers I've found were on smaller forums dedicated to a specific anime series, where writers have deep knowledge of the source material and blend it with novels in thoughtful ways. I stumbled on a fantastic 'Moby-Dick' / 'One Piece' fusion on a 'One Piece' fan board years ago that I still think about.
Don't sleep on crossover-centric communities either, like SpaceBattles or Sufficient Velocity. The culture there leans more towards speculative world-building and power mechanics, which can be perfect if you enjoy crossovers that really dig into how the systems of two different worlds would clash or merge. The writing quality can be hit or miss, but when it hits, it's something special. I find myself going back to those sites more than the big archives lately, just because the discussion threads alongside the stories add another layer of engagement.
