Man, I miss when series just had numbers on the cover. No fancy subtitles, just 'Book One'. Makes life easier. Anyway, for this series, while they don't have big numbers, the intended order is unambiguous. A quick Google search for 'Best Family Ever series order' brings up a list from reputable sources all saying the same thing. It's one of those questions with a single, clear answer. The internet agrees for once. That's your sign.
I'm looking at my shelf right now. The order is definitely: 'Best Family Ever', 'A Time to Dance', 'A Time to Embrace', 'A Time to Forgive'. They're numbered on the covers in the later printings. The series focuses on the five Baxter siblings as kids, dealing with school, friends, and faith. The continuity is important because characters develop and reference past events. It's not one of those series where you can jump around. If you read them out of order, the emotional payoffs won't land as well. So, sequential is the only way to go.
I read these with my kid. We did them in order and it was the right choice. Book one sets up the five siblings and their personalities. Book two throws them into new social dynamics. Book three presents a family crisis that tests them. Book four shows them working through the aftermath and forgiving each other. If we'd read three first, the crisis wouldn't have had the same impact because we wouldn't have known the characters as well. Order matters for emotional investment.

Carolina Alves
I came to America to write love stories, but my inspiration’s been running on empty. Then I followed an orange kitten onto the subway, through a strange neighborhood, and straight into the arms of a firefighter. Ace Rosario is steady, strong, and just a little sarcastic—and suddenly, I can’t stop writing again. The only question is… am I falling for my muse, or for the man himself?
Ace Rosario
Oldest sibling, last to get my act together. My family’s always seen me as the drifter, never the responsible one. But I’m determined to prove myself as a firefighter—and the last thing I expected was for Carolina Alves to tumble into my life with her wild hair, her Portuguese rambling, and my mischievous kitten, Goose, in tow. She makes me think love might be the one risk worth taking.
The Purrfect Love Story is the heartfelt, playful conclusion to the Ravenwood Series. While it can be read as a standalone, Ace recommends checking out his siblings’ stories first—Man’s Best Wingman, A Bark in the Park, and The Purrfect Wingman—before diving into his own.
The library app I use, Libby, often shows series in order right on the book’s details page. Maybe check there? Sometimes these digital platforms have better metadata for series order than a general web search.
If it’s listed as part of a series, the app will usually say ‘Book 1 of 3’ or something similar. That’s a quick, no-fuss way to see where a title falls in sequence. If ‘Best Family Ever’ is listed as book three, you’ll know to look for books one and two first.
It’s a handy trick for avoiding accidental spoilers and making sure you’re starting your reading journey at the intended point.
lol i tried to get into these once. my grandma has the whole collection. she said 'best family ever' made her cry but in a good way? i think it's like the grand finale of a tv show that's been on for 20 seasons. i couldn't tell you the sequel names, but i know there are a ton of books before it. maybe just google 'baxter family reading order'—that's what i did.
