Hoping to continue the survival story after the Diary of a Zombie novel. Are there follow-up books or a continuation series that expands the outbreak saga?

I don't think 'Diary Zombie' has a direct sequel, unfortunately. It’s more of a standalone story in that particular style. If you're looking for another zombie-themed read with a different but compelling spin, I recently finished 'The Transcendent Zombie System'. It starts with the protagonist reanimating as an intelligent zombie in a system-controlled apocalypse, and the story unfolds through his struggle to maintain humanity while evolving with monstrous powers. It offers a fresh take if you're done with the diary format and want something with more progression and internal conflict.
As a die-hard fan of niche horror, I’ve scoured every forum and Devlog for 'Diary Zombie' updates. Sadly, no direct sequel exists, but the lore expanded through webcomics and a tie-in novella last year. The novella, 'Dead Ink,' follows a side character’s survival notes, and it’s packed with hidden game references. It’s not the same as playing, but the writing nails that blend of dread and absurdity that made the game special.
Rumor has it the original team split up, but a few members started a new studio working on a spiritual successor called 'Apocalypse Scribbler.' The trailer’s got the same hand-drawn aesthetic, so I’m cautiously optimistic. In the meantime, I’ve been replaying the game with self-imposed challenges, like 'no weapons' runs. Who knew a zombie apocalypse could feel fresh after 50 playthroughs?
No sequels yet, but 'Diary Zombie' left such a mark that fans won’t let it fade. I’ve seen dozens of fanfics and even a tabletop RPG adaptation that twists the rules into a collaborative storytelling system. The original’s charm was in its simplicity—writing diary entries to stay sane while scavenging—and that’s hard to replicate.
Still, the Discord server’s buzzing with theories about unused assets hinting at a scrapped sequel. My personal headcanon? The 'missing' page from the in-game diary was a setup for a future plot. Here’s hoping the devs revive it someday!
Man, 'Diary Zombie' was such a wild ride! I stumbled upon it years ago when I was deep into indie horror games, and its mix of dark humor and survival mechanics stuck with me. From what I’ve dug up, there isn’t an official sequel, but the creator teased some spin-off concepts in interviews—like a prequel exploring the zombie outbreak’s origins. The community’s still holding out hope, though! Fan mods and alternate endings keep the spirit alive, like that 'Diary Zombie: Reanimated' fan project that reimagined the ending with multiplayer co-op. Maybe one day we’ll get a proper follow-up, but for now, I’m just replaying the original with mods to scratch that itch.
What’s cool is how the game’s journaling mechanic inspired other titles, too. 'Graveyard Keeper' borrowed some of its quirky tone, and I swear I saw a nod to it in 'Project Zomboid.' If you loved 'Diary Zombie,' those might tide you over while we wait. Until then, I’ll keep refreshing the dev’s Twitter for any hints—fingers crossed!

I had just been confirmed as a match and was preparing to donate a kidney to my husband's adoptive sister.
That night, she left her iPad in the living room. The screen was still on, showing her chat with the doctor: [Doctor, please don't tell my sister-in-law. If she has a kidney removed, her hidden heart condition will flare up, and she won't live longer than three months.]
The next day, I canceled the donation without a second thought. My husband flew into a rage. He called me cold-blooded and forced me to sign a divorce agreement that left me with nothing.
The next day, I stood outside the hospital room and heard my sister-in-law laughing smugly. "She's so stupid. I faked one chat screenshot, and she actually believed she was sick. Now her penthouse is mine, and we can finally be together openly."
My husband kissed her.
"Good girl. Later, I'll find you a good kidney on the black market."
Outside the door, I sneered. Of course, I knew the chat log was fake.
I had come back from the future, after all.
In two weeks, the zombie outbreak would begin. Those two so-called siblings who were actually lovers would not only steal my medicine, they would push me out to feed me to the zombies.
This time, with only four days left before zombie hordes overran the city, I wanted to see how long a sick woman without a new kidney and a scumbag without supplies could last in that penthouse.

In October 2025, an explosion occurs at a remote lab. An unidentified substance is leaked, and the virus makes people go insane. Anyone who is bitten by these rabid creatures becomes one of them.
It's like the zombies people see in movies and video games.
On the first day of the explosion, my five-year-old, Joyce Fairfield, is still at kindergarten. I risk my life to hurry there, but I can't even find her corpse when I arrive. I can only look at the surveillance footage to see her face, which is ashen with fear. I also see her mouth, "Mommy!"
15 days after the explosion, I finally traverse the city and get to my mother's home. However, all that welcomes me is a destroyed apartment and blood everywhere.
20 days after the explosion, my husband, Emmett Fairfield, calls me one last time from his office, which zombies have surrounded. He tells me not to leave the house.
Less than a month after the apocalypse arrives, I lose all my family. I'm alone as I struggle to survive in this dead world.
The spread of the virus triggers chaos in mankind. I exchange all my supplies to save a neighboring couple from bandits, leading them to safety in a secure zone where they can live stable lives. However, my kindness is not repaid.
Three years after the explosion, the secure zone is under siege by a wave of zombies. As we retreat, my neighbors shove me underneath a car so I'll distract the zombies. Then, they make a run for it and get away.
Trusted neighbors betray me. As the zombies eat away at me, I can feel death looming. All I want is to see my family again.
Now, I've been reborn. I have six hours before the zombie apocalypse breaks out.
It was the apocalypse. A zombie apocalypse. We should've been running for our lives, but my girlfriend, Yvonne Brown, refused to. She wanted to buy as much time as she could for her incompetent childhood friend, Yves Claude, to hop into the last helicopter that would take survivors away.
But the retreat was our group's only way to survive in this apocalypse. Yves was not showing up anytime soon. I had no choice but to knock her out and drag her into the chopper.
And Yves, the one she could never seem to forget, died in the swarm of undead.
I, however, survived thanks to what I did. Yvonne and I lived happily in a safe zone. And then that fateful day came.
I was going to take over the territory and lead humanity on an attack against the zombies. The night before that decisive strike, Yvonne spiked my water with anesthetics. When I was caught helpless, she tossed me into the horde of zombies.
The swarm of undead tore my flesh open, and the pain killed me. Yvonne? She stood on the wall coldly, a sneer decorating her lips.
"Yves could've lived, but you took that chance away from him! You selfish monster, you killed Yves! I will make you suffer what he suffered! You'll pay for it with your life!"
Death took me, but it tossed me all the way back to the day of the retreat. The day Yvonne adamantly insisted on waiting for Yves.
Well, if she was so happy to live through a world like this with her friend, who am I to say no?
I would grant her that wish, even if she would end up as zombie food.
The 'Diary of a Vampire' series, often overshadowed by more mainstream vampire lore, actually has a fascinating expansion beyond its initial book. While the original novel stands strong on its own, the author penned a follow-up titled 'Nocturnal Whispers,' which delves deeper into the protagonist's struggles with immortality and the haunting loneliness that comes with it. It's a more introspective piece, contrasting the action-heavy first book with a slower, melancholic tone that really tugs at your heartstrings.
I stumbled upon 'Nocturnal Whispers' completely by accident at a used bookstore, and it became one of those rare sequels that actually enhances the original. There’s also a third installment, 'Eternal Shadows,' but it shifts focus to a new character—a human turned vampire hunter who uncovers the diary centuries later. It’s less about the vampiric experience and more about the legacy of the first book’s events, which some fans adore while others find it a bit disconnected. Personally, I love how the series evolves, even if it doesn’t stick to the same narrative thread.
I was just rewatching 'World War Zombie' last weekend and got totally sucked into its gritty atmosphere again! From what I’ve dug up in fan forums and a few deep dives into production news, there hasn’t been an official sequel announced yet. But here’s the juicy bit—the director dropped hints in a 2023 interview about expanding the universe, maybe as a spin-off series. The original’s cult following is rabid (pun intended), so it wouldn’t surprise me if studios are quietly brewing something.
Honestly, I’d kill for a prequel exploring Patient Zero or even a parallel storyline with new survivors. The practical effects and that bleak, claustrophobic cinematography? Chef’s kiss. Until then, I’m coping by binging similar vibes like 'Kingdom' and 'Black Summer.' Fingers crossed for a surprise trailer drop!
