Honestly, had to dig around on Goodreads a bit because that name rings a bell but wasn't immediately placing it. Cassidy Boon is most famous for her 'Shadow Dwellers' series, I'm pretty sure. It's that urban fantasy-paranormal romance hybrid with the whole secret society of vampires and werewolves in a modern city setting. The first book is 'Veiled in Smoke'.
I read the first couple years back. The world-building was decently intricate, lots of political maneuvering between the factions. The romance threads can get a bit...predictable maybe? But they're a fun, quick read if you're into that specific niche. She's got a pretty dedicated fanbase for those books.
Wait, are we talking about the same Cassidy Boon? I thought she did that cozy mystery series with the baker and the ghost cat. 'The Sugar & Spook' something? No? Okay, my bad. Yeah, you're right, it's 'Shadow Dwellers'. The covers are very distinctive, all dark with a single glowing symbol. I tried the first one but it wasn't really for me—felt like a lot of similar stuff I'd read before in the genre. Her fans seem to love the lore though.
Definitely 'Shadow Dwellers'. That's her main thing. She's written a few standalone novels, but they never got the same traction. The series is her bread and butter.

I keep seeing this name popping up in cozy mystery groups lately, but I'm honestly a bit confused. From what I've pieced together, Cassidy Boon seems to be a newer author writing paranormal cozy mysteries, maybe with a baking or cafe theme? I saw a book called 'A Sprinkle of Spirits' mentioned on a blog, but when I tried to look it up, details were super scarce. Her online presence is minimal, no big publisher listing. Part of me wonders if it's a pseudonym for someone else or if the books are only on smaller platforms.
It's one of those situations where an author gains a tiny, dedicated fanbase online before hitting mainstream shelves. I've seen a couple of reviewers on BookTube mention her work as 'underrated finds,' praising the low-stakes supernatural plots. If you're into that super niche, self-published side of the genre, she might be on your radar, but for most readers, she's not a household name yet.
Cassidy Boon? I've read a couple of their books and honestly, I'd slot them pretty firmly into that cozy mystery-adjacent, small-town romance space. It's the kind of stuff where a big city professional inherits a bakery or a bookshop in a quirky village and has to navigate both a new business and the charming locals, with a low-stakes mystery or family secret simmering in the background.
That said, calling it 'just' romance feels a bit off because the mystery or community-building elements often share the spotlight equally with the love story. The vibe is definitely more about warm fuzzies and a sense of belonging than high-drama passion or pulse-pounding suspense. If you like your conflicts resolved with a community potluck and a heartfelt conversation rather than a car chase, Boon's probably your jam.
