What I find compelling is how it re-contextualizes the prequels’ inevitability. The tragedy isn’t undone, it’s remixed. You still end up at the same stations of the canon, roughly, but the tracks leading there are laid over different bedrock.

Imagine Leia, having learned this, fighting the Rebellion not to prevent the Empire’s rise, but to ensure the specific conditions for its future fall are set perfectly. It turns the saga into a tragic, necessary circuit.

Ugh, so much of it just handwaves the mechanics. 'Oh, a Force anomaly' and poof, young Obi-Wan knows everything. The good ones make the alteration cost something. I read a dark fic where to prevent Palpatine’s election, a time-traveling Jedi has to essentially become a Sith and discredit him politically, damning themselves in the process. The saga event changes, but the core theme—the road to hell being paved with good intentions—stays perfectly intact, maybe even amplified. The galaxy might be 'saved,' but the soul of the person who saved it is just as lost as Anakin’s was. That’s a trade that feels real.
