I feel like the discussion always misses the gen pairings, which is a shame. Harry and Hermione's friendship in POS is one of the most nuanced takes I've ever read—strained, loyal, deeply complicated by Harry's Slytherin identity. So many great fics just explore that platonic bond without shipping them, and it's some of the best content. For actual romantic pairs, besides the obvious Theo trend, I've got a soft spot for Harry/Daphne Greengrass. The 'Ice Queen' trope gets a fresh coat of paint here because Daphne is often written as a politically astute equal, not just a cold girl to be melted. Their interactions are usually about negotiation and silent understandings, which fits the Slytherin aesthetic better than grand gestures.

If we're talking pure volume on AO3 and FFN, Harry and Theodore Nott dominate by a wide margin. It's not close. The fic itself sets them up as two sides of the same coin—both brilliant, both playing long games, both outsiders in their own ways. That foundation is catnip for fan writers. You get everything from bitter academic rivals to co-conspirators rebuilding the wizarding world. It's the default pairing for a reason; the narrative chemistry is just there from the first time they interact in the story.

Harry/Theo is the big one, no question. After that, you'll find Harry/Blaise and some Harry/Daphne. The rare Harry/Hermione tends to be super slow-burn because of their canon friendship dynamic in the fic. Honestly, just filter by kudos on AO3 and you'll see the same names pop up every time.

Honestly, I'm not even sure 'top' is the right way to look at it because the fandom's gotten pretty fragmented over the years. Back when 'The Prince of Slytherin' was updating regularly, Harry/Theodore Nott was the absolute powerhouse. The 'Slytherin Prince' dynamic felt tailor-made, and so many writers ran with that intellectual rivalry turning into reluctant respect and then something more. It just fit the fic's core themes of political maneuvering and hidden depths perfectly.
Lately though, I've seen a real surge in Harry/Blaise Zabini. It's a different flavor—less brooding, more sleek and mysterious, playing into Blaise's canonical 'enigmatic' vibe. Some of the most interesting recent works pit Harry's cunning against Blaise's detached observation. I'll still take a well-written Harry/Theo over anything else, but the Blaise stuff is getting harder to ignore.
A dark horse contender, and I mean really dark, is Harry/Tom Riddle Voldemort. It's not for everyone, obviously, given the age and power gap, but within the specific context of POS where Harry is so deeply entangled with legacy and memory magic, some authors pull off a terrifyingly compelling gravitational pull between them. It's less romance and more a study in obsession.

I ripped his claws from my shoulders and pinned his arms above his head. He thrashed under me, his eyes flashing with something deeper than anger.
That was when I sensed it.
The sweet scent of cinnamon—the smell of a wolf’s arousal.
We froze, our bodies pressed together, so close I could feel the tremors of his heart against mine.
That wasn’t all….I felt his hardness, bulging and aching with need.
“Don’t look at me.” He turned away, squeezing his eyes shut as his cheeks tinted pink with shame. “I give up, so just kill me already, I can’t take it anymore.”
I swallowed hard, faltering yet again.
But instead of recoiling, instead of mocking him, I crashed my lips against his.

Honestly, I'm not even sure 'Indigo Park' has a fanfiction scene robust enough for 'top' pairings yet—it's still so new! From the snippets I've seen scrolling around, the energy is overwhelmingly centered on Rambley and the Glitch, probably because their dynamic is baked right into the lore. That weirdly protective, almost creator-and-creation vibe they've got going is catnip for fic writers.
There's a bit of Rambley/Ollie floating around too, but it feels more like a niche thing right now, maybe for people who latch onto Ollie's determined optimism as a counterbalance to Rambley's chaotic energy. Most of what I've stumbled on is either gen fic exploring the park's mysteries or that core Rambley & Glitch duo, treated as everything from platonic to deeply messed-up codependent.
My top spot for the Prince of Slytherin series is definitely Archive of Our Own. The tagging system is a lifesaver—you can filter for 'Alternate Universe - Slytherin Harry Potter' and 'Prince of Slytherin (Fanfiction)' and just browse what people have done. The one by The Sinister Man is obviously the big one; you'll find it linked in a lot of collections.
But I've also found some really interesting crossovers on FanFiction.net by searching for 'Slytherin Prince' as a phrase. The quality varies more over there, but sometimes you stumble on a writer who hasn't migrated to AO3 yet and has a unique take. I wouldn't rely solely on one site. It's kind of a fragmented scene for that specific premise, so checking both is just part of the process for me.
I’ve seen a lot of 'Harry Potter' fanfic over the years, and Cedric/Harry feels like a fascinating niche that never quite exploded. The most common pairing by far is, obviously, Cedric/Harry (Cedric Diggory/Harry Potter). It's the foundation, usually a tragic or fix-it romance spun from that moment in the graveyard. You get a lot of ‘he survived’ AUs or time-travel fics where Harry goes back determined to save him.
But the ship has interesting variations. I’ve stumbled across a surprising amount of Cedric/Harry/Cho, which honestly makes more sense to me than some other triads. It feels like a natural extension of that awkward teen love triangle, and some writers really dig into the messy emotions of it. Less common but still out there is Cedric/Harry/Viktor Krum, which is just... wonderfully bizarre and usually pops up in tournament-centric fics.
Honestly, I think the appeal isn’t just the ‘what if’ romance. It’s about exploring Cedric as a character beyond the nice Hufflepuff who died. Fics that pair him with Harry often rebuild him into someone more complex, sometimes darker, which can be a hit or miss depending on the writer's skill.
