The Omega's Choice
Annabelle Writes
My heart is a flame behind my ribs, a furious inferno, and there is no wind in the world that can put it out.
The two guards stationed at the dungeon door don’t dare speak. They move aside wordlessly, sensing the storm that is me. Their faces are pale, their eyes wide with apprehension. They know better than to question me right now.
Inside, the chamber is dim. Cold. The air smells of damp stone and a metallic tang that’s just beginning to mix with fear. Iron bars, iron shackles.
The Omega, the one who called herself Emma, sits on the floor, chained at the wrists, her lip bloodied, her cheek already swollen. She doesn’t raise her head when I enter.
