She shrugged lightly. “So age gaps aren’t inherently wrong. It’s about where people are in life.”
Mia nodded slowly, absorbing every word. “Ohhh.”
Karline turned back to the stove, stirring the soup. “Why are you asking?”
Mia hesitated.
Then, almost as an afterthought, she asked, “What about… a twenty-one-year-old?”
The spoon paused mid-stir.
Karline didn’t look at her immediately. When she did, her gaze was sharp, but not unkind. “Twenty-one and…?”
