Surrogate to the Alpha
“And after the border?”
Derek’s wolf turned, eyes narrowing, fury coiling tighter. “After the border, we hunt outside our territory. Whoever took her didn’t know what they’re up against. If they’re human, they don't know about any borders. In any case, they're bold, not smart.”
Declan huffed. “Bold enough to snatch her in broad daylight.”
Derek’s growl deepened, low and dangerous. “Bold enough to die for it.”
They ran again, faster this time, the forest blurring around them. The moon hung low, a pale sickle slicing through the clouds, casting silver light over their fur. Their paws pounded the earth in perfect rhythm — Alpha and Beta, predator and shadow.
