LOGINCEDAR BLAKE
“Speak or leave!” Adonis growled again, stepping in front of his brother. “I need the antidote for wolfsbane poisoning.” I swallowed my pride and spoke, just like Adonai wanted. This wasn’t about me anymore. This was about Deklan, the one who, for reasons I still don’t understand, had saved my life. I couldn’t live with myself if something happened to him. When he became this important to me, I don’t know. But I do know I need to save him. I owe myself that. Kayla, the pack’s doctor, said he wouldn’t survive past sunrise. The goddess must’ve guided me, because I remembered the one Luna who brews the antidote, moonveil. It's the only known cure, made from silver root and dragon’s bile. “Your mother brews it,” I said quickly as they exchanged confused looks. “My mother told me. The antidote was locked away in your father’s chamber after he—” “You mean after your father slaughtered him!” Adonai barked, cutting me off. I flinched but pushed through. “We don’t have to do this, Adonai. If anyone should be angry, it should be me! My father was accused and executed without even being heard. Do you really believe he killed the alpha, stuffed his head in a car, and came back celebrating about defeating the rogue wolves? The elders knew the truth. They’ve silenced the good ones, and no one dares to speak against them.” My fists clenched. I had to calm down before I lost control again. If I triggered the powers I barely understood, I wouldn’t stand a chance at surviving their rot if I don't get consumed by it as well. With one twin already hating me, I wouldn’t survive if things got out of hand. And I didn’t have time to mess this up. Dominus could return any minute, and I hadn’t disabled the dashcam in my room. If he discovered his archenemy was under his roof, I’d be served up like a pork sandwich to the pack. “My father told me everything, and I believed him,” I added, lowering my voice. “A private investigator has been digging for the truth too. Just give me time and I’ll show you who the real monster is in this pack.” They stared at me like I was the one who had created wolfsbane itself. Adonis, the calm and calculated one, leaned against his desk, his eyes unreadable. He was the first to hate me…still did, I’m sure. But he never let emotions slip. He showed only what he wanted you to see. That made him dangerous. And Adonai? He was reckless, sarcastic, always playing deadly games. I never imagined he’d be the more rigid one right now. “Maybe you’re right,” Adonis said slowly, “but why should we believe a word you’ve said?” “Because I’m in a contract marriage with Dominus,” I said, lifting my chin. “Because I’m bound by powers I can’t control. And tomorrow at sunset, the blood-binding ritual is scheduled. Tonight, I plan to run.” Adonis’s eyes widened, his mouth twitching into a smirk. “Contract Luna. I knew something was off.” “I’ve been honest with you now,” I said with a sigh. “There’s no more reason to lie. Please. Help me get the Moonveil.” Adonai still looked unsure. “Why do you need it so badly? How do we know this isn’t a setup? Dominus has every reason to use you.” “I swear on my parents’ graves, he has no idea I came here. I had to sneak out of his estate in disguise with a servant's help. And look at the time, isn’t that proof enough? This is personal. It’s urgent.” Adonis combed a hand through his hair. “I know where it’s hidden. I can get it without anyone noticing.” “You would? Thank you! Can we leave now?” I took a hopeful step forward. “Not so fast, Cedar.” Adonai's tone stopped me cold. He walked over slowly, and Adonis followed. “I like the sound of that,” Adonis said, chuckling. “What…why?” I asked, heart thudding. “If we’re going to help you,” Adonai said, his hand brushing my cheek, “it’ll be on one condition.” “You’ll be ours,” Adonis added, voice low as he leaned in, playing with a strand of my hair. “You’ll belong to us.” “We’ll mark you.” My heart slammed against my ribs. “You’ll reject every other man.” Their voices blurred in my ears. Deklan’s face flashed in my mind. He didn’t deserve to die, not like this. He saved me. I…I owed him my life. And I want him to kiss me again. I need him. I also want to be free from Dominus. If anyone could stand up to him, it was the twins. If I played this right, maybe I could escape and survive. “This contract with Dominus,” Adonai said, bringing me back to the moment, “is a trap. He’s using it to keep you close until he gets what he wants. He’s scaring you with all his threats and dominance so that he can get what he wants.” I knew that too. But walking away wasn’t that easy. Dominus would find me. He could kill me. “And don’t trust his nephew either,” Adonis added as if he could read my mind. “He’s only using you to hurt Dominus. You’re a pawn to both of them. Don’t fall for it twice.” Likewise, you two! I wanted to shout it aloud. They wanted to own me too. To brag that they tamed Cedar Blake, took her from the most feared alpha. They wanted to flaunt me like a trophy, to say no one else could touch what was theirs. I was a game piece in their power struggle. But I was also out of time. I have to save Deklan. I have to escape Dominus. And I can't outsmart the twins. I am hooked and they're never going to let me escape this time, not after I had humiliated them in front of the council with a public rejection and acceptance of Dominus. I only did it to survive. I thought it would buy me time, maybe even protection. But now? The twins looked at me like wounded beasts, licking their pride. And I could feel it, there was something the Elders wanted from me too. Something they hadn’t said out loud yet. Maybe, just maybe, I could still outsmart the twins. Before I could finish that thought, a sharp knock came to the door. We all froze in place, barely breathing. A second later, Nikko’s voice came from behind it. “Dominus Naruto and Elder Jeremy Harold just arrived, and they want to have a word with you both, your graces.” Adonis’s head whipped toward me. Adonai cursed under his breath. “Shit.” My stomach dropped. They still doubted me. Dominus. Is. Here. And he wasn’t alone. And if he found me here, he'd kill me. And worst of all, I hadn’t even gotten the antidote for Deklan. He would die. And I might die before him…CEDAR BLAKE I felt myself floating, weightless, as if invisible hands were carrying me back from the edge of death. My mind woke first, restless and sharp, before my eyes finally fluttered open. For a long moment, I just lay there, listening.Silence.Not the comforting kind of silence you hear when you’re safe at home, but the kind that creeps over your skin and makes your heart beat faster. The kind that tells you at once you are not in a hospital, not in your pack’s grounds, not anywhere near people who care about you.I pushed myself up slowly from the soft bed beneath me, fighting the heavy pull of dizziness. My gaze moved around the unfamiliar room, trying to catch details, trying to piece together where I was. Snippets of memory started flashing back like broken glass…Dominus, the blood binding ritual, his mouth drinking from me, my body reacting, the disappearance of the sun and then nothing but darkness.Whipping my head around too fast, I regretted it immediately. A sharp p
DOMINUS MARUTOI snatched a bottle of wine from the cellar and staggered back to my seat, ignoring the dull ache in my chest. My body still felt weak, but I forced the cork off and drank straight from the bottle, gulping it down the way a starving wolf tears into flesh. The burn in my throat did little to numb the fury raging inside me.Kayla’s hands froze as she packed up her medical kit. She had been checking me over, doing her endless “inspections” with her healer’s touch, but her voice carried that calm, irritating judgment of hers.“Alcohol will slow down your healing,” she said flatly. “You’ve already consumed two bottles in the last four minutes.”I turned my head just enough to glare at her, my lips curling into something close to a snarl. “If you’re done, get out!”The way I spat those words made her stumble back a step. My voice was low, but it carried enough weight to crack stone.“I-I’ll leave now,” she stammered, shoving the rest of her things into her bag before I could
ADONAI AUGUSTUS I pulled the reins tight, making my horse slow to a careful trot as we reached the edge of the cliff. Adonis was already there. He stood at the rim, head lifted toward the moon, his massive wolf form trembling with rage. Then, he howled, long and loud, pouring all his fury into the night air. We’d been searching for hours, through trees, over streams, across the cold ridges of the mountains. Now the wind cut through my coat, sharp as claws, and the freezing air bit at my face. The moon, pale and distant, was sliding behind a bank of dark clouds. The smell of rain was in the air.If the downpour came before we found Cedar, the ground would turn slick, scents would vanish, and every trail would be lost. I couldn’t allow my brother to push himself further into exhaustion or madness. Not tonight.I guided my horse closer to him.He didn’t turn, but I could see the tension in his stance, his tail stiff, his claws digging into the dirt.Hoofbeats thundered up behind us. Ica
DEKLAN MARIOMy fists tightened without me thinking about it. Cedar was just a few steps away, lying there, fragile and still. I was ready to move to her side, but the sound of heavy footsteps stopped me in place. They came fast. Loud. Purposeful.I snapped my head toward the entrance of the cave.Three men in long black cloaks appeared. They walked in together, every step perfectly in sync, like they had rehearsed it a thousand times.Masks covered their faces. Shiny black, smooth as glass. Their hair hung long and glossy, untouched by dust or time, as if no one had ever dared to touch them.I couldn’t tell their scents apart which was unnerving for a wolf. Usually, you could read someone by scent before seeing them, but with these men… nothing. And they didn’t look at me. Not once. The young wolf in the corner shifted back into his human form mid-turn, as if the sight of them had yanked the animal out of him. His knees hit the cold cave floor, and his head dropped low.“Spare me!” H
DEKLAN MARIO“You filthy weasel, don’t touch her!” Dominus’s head snapped toward me, his eyes narrowing as he spotted me stepping out of the shadows. The darkness in the air was thick and heavy, it wasn’t mine. It was Cedar’s power, wild and untamed, spilling into every corner even as she lay down unmoving.“She belongs to us!” one of the twin alphas roared, leaping aside just in time to dodge an arrow fired by one of Dominus’s guards. The guard’s aim was good, but the shot was rushed. The arrow’s path was desperate, so very predictable. Easy for a trained fighter to dodge. If it hadn’t been, that arrogant alpha would be clutching his side instead of trying to step between me and Cedar.“I don’t know what any of you think you’re talking about,” I said flatly, my tone dripping with mockery. “All I see is a woman who needs safety. You see someone to drain and parade around for your own selfish glory.” I smirked, taking a slow step forward. “So tell me, who do you think really deserves
CEDAR BLAKE I hate him.I hate everything about him… the way he talks like he owns the world, the way his eyes follow me as if I’m nothing more than a prize he has already claimed.Dominus Maruto. The name used to mean something different to me. At the very beginning, when I still believed he was the one who saved me, I actually liked him. I’m ashamed to admit it now, but it’s the truth. Back then, I didn’t see the monster. I only saw the charm, the strength, the confidence that made everyone else shrink in his presence. I thought I was safe with him. I thought he could protect me.But I was wrong. And now, every time I look at him, I wonder how I could have been so blind. It’s almost funny that the manipulative, sly, always-careful Dominus is getting played in his own game. He must be so sure of himself that it never even crossed his mind that someone might outsmart him. That a player could be played.Right now, though, I can’t let him see that I am awake, alert, and thinking.I kep
CEDAR BLAKE“Who was that?” I asked, still rattled.“Sammy Porter,” he answered casually, almost with a hint of smugness. He bent to kiss the corner of my mouth. “My rejected mate.”Rejected mate?I handed the empty wine glass to a passing maid, trying to mask the storm swirling inside me. Without
DOMINUS MARUTO “I have her now. Start preparing for the ritual, Cena.”“She finally said yes?” Cena asked, surprise in his voice as he handed me my coffee. “I can’t believe it. After all these years watching from the shadows, you finally pinned Cedar Blake.”I nodded slowly, sipping from the mug h
CEDAR BLAKE “No! Please... no!”I bolted upright with a scream, my heart racing in my chest before my eyes even adjusted to the light.“You're awake,” a deep voice said calmly from beside me. “I thought I’d lost you.”My head snapped to the side. A man, bare-chested, was relaxing in a cushioned ar
CEDAR BLAKE “Stop right there, you worthless Omega!”Their voices were loud, vicious, and far too close. I could hear them breathing hard behind me, their footsteps pounding the forest floor in hot pursuit. The leaves under my feet crackled as I ran, the sharp twigs slicing into my bare soles, but
