Chapter 1 ( New Pack Era)

_{45 years later}

_{“Okay, my little warriors, you have trained long and hard. Prove to me your fighting prowess; show no mercy” The female voice said. The children started their training course, which included attacking dummies and running through woods, culminating in teamwork. Observing and guiding the young pups is the role of the female individual. Three grown-ups at the table observed everything.}

_{“I told you, William, that our daughter is full of potential,” the woman said.}

_{William watched his daughter and said, "Vanessa, I knew from the moment she was born that she was destined for greatness."}

_{"She's got what it takes to be Luna and lead the pack to victory," Vanessa declared. Seeing his daughter's advancement, William could not help but concur, marveling at her maturity for her age. William remembers his daughter's skill with a crossbow and daggers at age six; she never missed a bullseye. As the alpha, William wanted his daughter to be outstanding so he could eventually make her his successor.}

_{A man's voice, saying, “Yeah, she truly born a natural,” broke his trance as time went on. William observed that his father, former Alpha Logan Winchester, was entranced by Catalina, his granddaughter, and her promise as a future pack leader. The sight of Catalina in charge constantly evokes memories of his beloved Dawn, who Catalina strongly resembles. A smile crept onto his face before he announced, “I’m leaving now, William could you spare a moment for a private chat with your father?” Logan inquires.}

_{William nodded at him and assured his wife he would return shortly. Walking alongside his father in silence, Logan finally spoke up once they had gone a considerable distance, asking, "Do you know what today is, son?"}

_{William hesitated, then said, "Yes, it's been 45 years since Mom passed away, and today would have been your 45th anniversary. Dad, talking about this day without crying is one of the hardest things I've ever done. As a result of her death.”}

_{“William, I relive that moment daily, blaming myself for not helping her. It was my duty to protect you and her, not the other way around. Logan let out a whimper.}

_{Looking at his father, William saw the years of sorrow etched in his eyes, a consequence of losing his mate. His father did nothing but conceal his sorrows. With time, he makes an effort to be strong.}

_{“Dad, you’re not to blame.”}

_{“Yes, it’s William; that day altered both our lives—me without my mate, you without your mother.”}

_{I agree, it was difficult, Dad, but your teaching and upbringing improved me. I learned from you the importance of appreciating life, fairness, and kindness towards others. Dad, Mom's smiling down on you from the moon goddess's heaven, and I'm sure she approves of everything you've done.}

_{"I sure hope so, son," Logan suggested.}

_{Continuing their conversation, Logan eventually says, “I have to leave now; you know my yearly routine.”}

_{William said, "Remember, Dad, you need to be careful; you're not getting any younger."}

_{"With age comes wisdom," Logan chuckled.}

_{“Even though I'm getting older, William, I'm more than capable of giving you a sound beating.” Logan repeated his chuckling. Indeed, Logan is a well-built 6’2 for his age. His long hair was mostly black, with some gray highlights. Those once glowing, beautiful light gray eyes. With each thought of Dawn, his eyes become a little sadder and darker in shade.}

_{“Dad, you should leave now, as it’s getting dark.”}

_{Logan stated, "Son, you're right. I'm hoping Phoenix will appear."}

_{At that point, Logan starts calling to Phoenix.}

_{“Phoenix, how are you feeling?”}

_{Things aren’t going well; I remain unhappy.}

_{"My friend, you realize what day it is, don't you?"}

_{“Logan, I know, I’m not in the mood to go out this year, all I could think of is Aurora”}

_{“I understand; thinking of Dawn evokes similar emotions, but we must remain strong for their sakes.”}

_{“Logan, this has been going on for almost 45 years, and it's only getting more depressing.”}

_{“Old pal Phoenix, is this something we can do one final time? I promise it's the last.”}

_{Every year on this day, Logan and Phoenix always repeat the same routine of visiting the spot where Dawn died and her grave, a ritual Logan always agreed with. Logan feels that the location holds the presence of Dawn and Aurora, and he is waiting for them to appear. Believing this is his only means of releasing long-held pain, Logan howls at the moon nightly, yearning for a response from Dawn. This allowed him to comfortably process his emotions and release the pent-up anger he had silently harbored.}

_{“Phoenix, this is our final year doing this; I agree, we must progress.”}

_{"You're right, Logan. Let's head out.” With a swift change, Logan became Phoenix, and off they ran.}
