45 years later

“Okay, my little warriors, you have trained long and hard. Prove to me your fighting prowess; show no mercy” The female voice said. The children started their training course, which included attacking dummies and running through woods, culminating in teamwork. Observing and guiding the young pups is the role of the female individual. Three grown-ups at the table observed everything.

“I told you, William, that our daughter is full of potential,” the woman said.

William watched his daughter and said, "Vanessa, I knew from the moment she was born that she was destined for greatness."

"She's got what it takes to be Luna and lead the pack to victory," Vanessa declared. Seeing his daughter's advancement, William could not help but concur, marveling at her maturity for her age. William remembers his daughter's skill with a crossbow and daggers at age six; she never missed a bullseye. As the alpha, William wanted his daughter to be outstanding so he could eventually make her his successor.

A man's voice, saying, “Yeah, she truly born a natural,” broke his trance as time went on. William observed that his father, former Alpha Logan Winchester, was entranced by Catalina, his granddaughter, and her promise as a future pack leader. The sight of Catalina in charge constantly evokes memories of his beloved Dawn, who Catalina strongly resembles. A smile crept onto his face before he announced, “I’m leaving now, William could you spare a moment for a private chat with your father?” Logan inquires.

William nodded at him and assured his wife he would return shortly. Walking alongside his father in silence, Logan finally spoke up once they had gone a considerable distance, asking, "Do you know what today is, son?"

William hesitated, then said, "Yes, it's been 45 years since Mom passed away, and today would have been your 45th anniversary. Dad, talking about this day without crying is one of the hardest things I've ever done. As a result of her death.”

“William, I relive that moment daily, blaming myself for not helping her. It was my duty to protect you and her, not the other way around. Logan let out a whimper.

Looking at his father, William saw the years of sorrow etched in his eyes, a consequence of losing his mate. His father did nothing but conceal his sorrows. With time, he makes an effort to be strong.

“Dad, you’re not to blame.”

“Yes, it’s William; that day altered both our lives—me without my mate, you without your mother.”

I agree, it was difficult, Dad, but your teaching and upbringing improved me. I learned from you the importance of appreciating life, fairness, and kindness towards others. Dad, Mom's smiling down on you from the moon goddess's heaven, and I'm sure she approves of everything you've done.

"I sure hope so, son," Logan suggested.

Continuing their conversation, Logan eventually says, “I have to leave now; you know my yearly routine.”

William said, "Remember, Dad, you need to be careful; you're not getting any younger."

"With age comes wisdom," Logan chuckled.

“Even though I'm getting older, William, I'm more than capable of giving you a sound beating.” Logan repeated his chuckling. Indeed, Logan is a well-built 6’2 for his age. His long hair was mostly black, with some gray highlights. Those once glowing, beautiful light gray eyes. With each thought of Dawn, his eyes become a little sadder and darker in shade.

“Dad, you should leave now, as it’s getting dark.”

Logan stated, "Son, you're right. I'm hoping Phoenix will appear."

At that point, Logan starts calling to Phoenix.

“Phoenix, how are you feeling?”

Things aren’t going well; I remain unhappy.

"My friend, you realize what day it is, don't you?"

“Logan, I know, I’m not in the mood to go out this year, all I could think of is Aurora”

“I understand; thinking of Dawn evokes similar emotions, but we must remain strong for their sakes.”

“Logan, this has been going on for almost 45 years, and it's only getting more depressing.”

“Old pal Phoenix, is this something we can do one final time? I promise it's the last.”

Every year on this day, Logan and Phoenix always repeat the same routine of visiting the spot where Dawn died and her grave, a ritual Logan always agreed with. Logan feels that the location holds the presence of Dawn and Aurora, and he is waiting for them to appear. Believing this is his only means of releasing long-held pain, Logan howls at the moon nightly, yearning for a response from Dawn. This allowed him to comfortably process his emotions and release the pent-up anger he had silently harbored.

“Phoenix, this is our final year doing this; I agree, we must progress.”

"You're right, Logan. Let's head out.” With a swift change, Logan became Phoenix, and off they ran.

Catalina awoke two hours later, feeling calm. A glance around reminded her she was at her grandfather's house, and a single tear rolled down her cheek. After getting up, she turned, straightened the bed, and then went to the door. She opened it, and just before departing, she turned for a final glance at the room. Closing her eyes, she absorbed the scene before finally whispering the words she dreaded: "Goodbye, Grandfather." Then, she shut the door.Catalina secured the house and ventured into the forest as the late afternoon breeze rustled her hair, bringing her some comfort. Catalina, while walking, realized she was looking at a river, a place she'd forgotten until memories of her grandfather taking her there in childhood came back to her. Thinking of those memories, Catalina walked to the river. Beginning to stare at the water, her mind wandered, and it appeared she'd been there a while when a twig broke, causing her to become guarded. She began to stake out the area, her crystal

It was the day The Black Vendetta pack had to say their final goodbyes to a pack member. Everyone felt the sadness on the day of Alpha Logan Winchester's funeral, and Catalina was particularly affected as the large crowd gathered to pay their respects to the deceased Alpha. Logan's popularity was evident, with even the Elders attending, highlighting his rise from Omega to Alpha and his considerable respect. His past never left Logan, and Logan's story motivated other omegas to whom he became an inspiration. The notion is that an omega's attainment of Alpha status implies their capacity for becoming someone significant. A podium was situated in front of the packhouse, where the funeral was held. To the right, Logan's open black casket was visible to all; William, Vanessa, and Catalina were seated in the front row. Beta Bryson was behind them, and as his family sat through the service, each member approached the podium to speak briefly. Some shared jokes that brought a few chuckles, easi

In the forest, Logan and Phoenix walked in silence, next to each other. Each tree they encountered while walking started to illuminate with white lights. Lavender sky with white clouds had small round lights fluttering, resembling lightning bugs or stars. You'll feel completely at home in this calm and peaceful environment.“Do you recognize this place, Phoenix?” Logan asks.Phoenix informed him, "I'm not familiar with this Logan, but I suspect this might be the afterlife."With a deep breath and a sigh, Logan remarked, "I never envisioned it looking like this, such a gorgeous landscape.”"Phoenix, is the legend true that wolves can take over another person's body after a human's death?” Logan was curious."Yes," Phoenix responded, "the moon goddess refers to it as being reborn."“If that's the case, why are you here? Shouldn't you be in someone else's body at this moment?” Logan question wanting to know.“I'm opting out of reincarnation, Logan. After centuries of this, it's all become

As they approached the packhouse, William sent a mind-link to Vanessa, informing her of their proximity and Catalina's presence. The pack members greeted them as the gates opened when they reached the pack. Clothing was immediately given to everyone by their loved ones after they transformed into their human shapes. Everyone's happiness was evident in their laughter and tears, a sight observed by Catalina, William, and Logan. A smile appeared on their faces when they saw that. He recognized the voice that called his name as "William" and, turning, saw that it was Vanessa."William, Catalina, Logan, you've returned," Vanessa exclaimed, rushing to embrace them. Vanessa embraces Catalina so strongly that tears stream down their faces. Vanessa broke the hug looking over Catalina, making sure there were no bruises on her “Mom, I’m ok, you don’t have to worry anymore,” Catalina told her.“I’m so glad you’re home safe, my love,” Vanessa exclaimed. Vanessa embraced William and Logan with hugs

"That's wonderful, my child," Dawn told Catalina. "Now, please take my hands, close your eyes, and I'll handle the rest.” Nodding, Catalina complied with Dawn's directions. As soon as their eyes were closed, Dawn took a deep breath, and within moments, a luminous white light surrounded them. "Our dearest Moon Goddess," Dawn began, "I have come to tell you that my granddaughter, Catalina Winchester, has accepted your offer.” A shiver went through Dawn's body right after she said that, and then she spoke again, her voice sounding different."Catalina, as the moon goddess, I must ask: is your grandmother's story true, and do you accept my offer?" The voice ask."Yes, Moon Goddess, I accept," Catalina replied.“I shall empower you, my disciple, with the ability to heal and protect your loved ones, and above all, to be a formidable warrior for life. Catalina Winchester, your powers are a gift from the moon goddess.” Then, Dawn gently rested one hand on Catalina's head. Catalina's body then

  • A Sacred Bond   Chapter: 50 Rising of Dawn

Believe it when you see it; words can't capture Logan's current feelings. Believing he was dreaming and Dawn wasn't actually there, Logan shut his eyes, but upon opening them, Dawn remained. Logan extended his hand towards the seemingly real object, and Dawn mirrored his action; upon contact, they both experienced a jolt of energy. Logan found himself growing excited as he felt this connection, and even Phoenix sensed a bond with Aurora. Tears welled in Logan's eyes, and as Dawn came nearer, he swiftly wrapped his arms around her, and they shared an embrace. Logan's face moved towards Dawn's neck, and he breathed in her fragrance. The sweet smell of Magnolia, which eased his pain, was missed. He withdrew from the embrace, desiring to look into her eyes. Logan remembered being entranced by her beauty, which, in his view, was the eye of the beholder."Dawn, I'm so glad you are here; it's been so long, my love," Logan said.“I know Logan, and I miss you as well,” Dawn told him.“How can t

As soon as those words left her mouth, Logan got up and picked Dawn up, they kissed each other before they could go deeper into the kiss. There were loud growls that had the ground shaking, causing them to break out of the kiss. When Dawn and Logan turned to the stage, they saw her father, Alpha Sam

The day before the wedding, Dawn was outside looking at some people prepping up decorations for the ceremony. Dawn approached the ladies and she greeted them “Hey Mom, Hi Luna Diane”. Seeing that made Dawn a little relieved, then she headed on into the house; she searched for Malachi but could not

  • A Sacred Bond   Chapter: 26

The week had finally come for Malachi, his parents, and some of their pack members to arrive. At the front of the house, Dawn and her parents were standing waiting to greet their guests. Dawn had to pull on this big act that everything was ok, but deep down, she was feeling the hurt and pain of ever

  • A Sacred Bond   Chapter: 20

The next day Dawn was sitting on the porch wrapping her head around everything that had happened last night. Malachi confessed his love to her; she did not see that coming but did not know how to feel about it. It was too much to take in at a short time. Dawn is still angry at her father, that she f
