THE HALL looked magnificent. Like something out of a fairytale, filled with invited guests from all the other kingdoms, except the DragonBorns of course.

For the past six centuries, the other kingdoms in the supernatural realm had remained subservient to the Werewolves.

"Your turn." Om'zaar said to Vaelora.

She was draped in a gold and white dress, fit for a queen. But she was broken. Angry. Bitter.

Draekon just had a way of elevating her from one nightmare to another. And he always managed to look put together while at it.

"I, Vaelora Hugo," Om'zaar led.

"I, Vaelora Hugo," she repeated.

"Take Draekon Noir, my gift of a lifetime from the moon goddess."

"Take Draekon Noir, my gift of a lifetime from the moon goddess."

She doused the urge to scoff at that point.

"To love and to be bound under the grace of the moon goddess."

"To love and to be bound under the grace of the moon goddess."

"Until death do us part."

"Until death do us part," she finished, locking her empty gaze to that of Draekon.

Vaelora meant nothing of the vows she had just taken, but it wasn't like he cared so much.

Moreover, he knew he'd never want or love any other woman the way he loved Amelia. He was only marrying Vaelora to keep things in check within the council.

He wasn't oblivious. His initial decision to take a DragonBorn chosen mate had caused a silent upheaval within the council.

Of course, many were not okay being ruled by a DragonBorn as Luna queen.

With the moon goddess' 'timely intervention' of bringing his second chance werewolf mate along, he was only going to cause more uproar by rejecting their bond.

He was the most feared ruler across the six kingdoms and could do as he pleased, but he still had a duty to serve his people.

As chief Om'zaar took each of their right palms, slicing through with a very sharp blade, Vaelora wondered how her life had gotten to this.

"Place your bleeding palms against each other's," Om'zaar requested.

Placing her bloodied palm against Draekon's, she instantly felt her heart clench in inexplicable excitement. The look in Draekon's eyes conveyed that he also felt the shift.

They had just solidified their first bonding phase, and it definitely felt different.

For Vaelora, she felt infuriatingly closer to him. She hated that she actually had no control over this. She could only pray that overtime, this cursed bond wouldn't drown the one real thing she still felt towards Draekon. Hatred.

"Under the authority of the moon goddess, the witness of the council of chiefs, and in the presence of the werewolf kingdom and other present kingdoms, you're now husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."

Even after the instruction, Draekon remained unmoving, hating the tiny feeling of fear that breezed through his mind.

Vaelora looked like she could slap him in the presence of these people, if he dared.

Almost immediately, he slightly shook his head in disbelief. It had to be that shift in their bond. It just had to be. It was casting a veil over his real feelings. He was never scared of anyone, and he could care less what anybody thought of his actions.

Ignoring the icy stare Vaelora shot him, he stepped closer, leaning down to place the softest kiss against her lips.

"Haa..." An almost inaudible sigh escaped Vaelora's lips, as soon as the tingles began to spread from her lips, all over her face. She had only ever felt that way for one man-- Dione.

But today, her body betrayed her in the most devastating way.

Draekon quickly stepped away, not liking the way his face instantly felt flush after feeling her warm breath against his lips. They locked gazes again, so many conflicting emotions in each their eyes.

Somehow, they both knew they were doomed.

**********************

It had been a very tiring day, and Draekon released a yawn as he strode into his quarters.

The sentinels stationed at the entrance of his chambers gave a bow immediately they saw him approaching, opening the doors of his chambers. Draekon made his way in, the sentinels closing the door behind him.

He stopped in his tracks when he made out Vaelora's sleeping figure on his large bed.

It had probably not registered to him that they would both share his chambers from now on. In that moment, a mild familiar scent filtered through his nostrils.

Vaelora's scent.

He hated how much he actually liked her scent.

She had always smelled that way for as long as he could remember. It was a brilliant combination of grapes and...

Even until now, the second was a lingering mystery. Something elusive, like wild Jasmine.

He proceeded towards the bed, seeing she was quite deeply asleep.

She was still in her ceremonial dress, her thick black tresses sprawled all over the pillows.

His usually dimly lit room was at least, bright enough to make out her face.

Her face was puffy, and the skin around her closed eyes was quite tender from crying.

He released a low sigh.

Even though Vaelora had been able to put up a bold front in the presence of their guests, he knew she had broken down as soon as she got into their chambers.

She had left as soon as the joining ritual was done, not showing her face for the rest of the ceremony.

He wondered if marrying Vaelora was the best decision. He could have easily severed their bond, regardless of the internal chaos it would have caused within the council.

After all, no one dared question him to his face.

Draekon knew he had hurt her enough, but he just couldn't help this wicked and primal urge of wanting to...

He wasn't sure if he wanted to possess her, or completely consume her.

He'd never really understood it, but what he did know was that he was cruel. Wicked.

As he headed to the bathing chamber for a wash, he thought about Om'zaar's words to Vaelora only a week ago.

Om'zaar thought their bond was predestined.

Now that Draekon thought about it, it felt strange.

Draekon and Vaelora had both found their first mates on the same day, nine years ago. It had been a few weeks after her sixteenth birthday.

While he married his mate-- Amelia, Vaelora couldn't marry Dione because she was just sixteen. Too young to have been mated.

Beta Hugo had insisted she turned eighteen, before she could get married.

When Vaelora turned eighteen, plans for her wedding to Dione set in. But then... Draekon killed Beta Hugo.

It was an accident.

That accident left Vaelora completely broken, and ruined the existing plans of her wedding to Dione.

Somehow, Draekon had always played a significant role in ensuring that Vaelora and Dione never got married.

As water from the shower cascaded down Draekon's head, it purged his thoughts.

Draekon didn't know about their bond being predestined, but it sure as hell was catastrophic. And worst of all, he was beginning to crave the wicked things he could do to her now that she was his.

AT HIS request, Rebekah leaned closer and their lips locked in a gentle, passionate kiss. While Khol'an tried to take it slow, Rebekah plunged her tongue into his mouth, tasting the very sweet essence of him.The kiss went on for a while longer, before they broke apart, panting hard. The next thing, she swiftly climbed onto him and carefully straddled his hips, settling her weight gently and making sure she wasn’t causing him any discomfort. Her heart was racing so hard she could barely breathe. At that point, she had forgotten all her discussions with Amaya and Nali'a, and just decided to go with the flow. Moreover she had started differently from what they had taught her and so far, it wasn't bad.Khol'an gazed up at her, quietly stunned by this side of her. She leaned down and captured his lips again, while he groaned softly into her mouth, his hands sliding up her back. She kissed him harder, then began trailing her lips along his jaw and down the column of his neck. When she re

AFTER soaking herself in a scented bath for over an hour, Rebekah finally stepped out in a fluffy bathrobe to meet Amaya and Nali'a patiently waiting for her."You sure took your precuous time," Nali'a teased and she blushed bright red."Don't make her more tensed than she already is, Nalia," Amaya chastised. Rebekah's gaze fell on the two robes laid on her bed, and she instantly preferred the black one. The red robe was just too obvious. She certainly didn't want to enter Khol'an's chambers that night, giving off the idea of what she had come for. "I'm guessing you prefer the black one," Amaya said, and she nodded in agreement. "I like it too." Amaya flashed her a warm smile."Alright, come here." Nali'a took Rebekah's hand and led her to the chair right in front of the large mirror. "I would just help you brush your hair."Rebekah gave a small nod. "Okay." Nali'a loosened her hair from the initial braids they had been in and within minutes, she finished her business. After tha

"I still believe a miracle can happen," Nali'a said."I believe so too," Amaya agreed. "The return of his memories shows that changes are happening. But we don’t know when this particular miracle will come. And time is something we don’t have."As the sisters continued talking, Rebekah remained lost in her own storm of fear and longing."Rebekah?" Nali’a’s voice pulled her back."Sorry," she murmured, unable to hide her troubled expression."Are you okay?" both sisters asked at the same time. She shrugged lightly. "Yes. Just tired from the long day."They seemed to have bought the excuse, even though her mind kept pushing her to say something to them. This wasn't just about their brother, but about Rebekah as well. She desperately needed someone to talk to, but she was uncertain if speaking with them was the best idea. She could visit home that night and speak with her mother maybe?"I think we should let you have your much needed rest then. We could always discuss more tomorrow," Am

REBEKAH walked into her chambers and closed the door behind. Her shoulders were stiff from sitting through long hours of the local council meeting. For the first time, she was showing up as Luna and representing Khol'an, but the situation of things were harsher than she could have imagined. Things had only grown more complicated since Marion’s arrest. She still couldn’t believe some council members were questioning whether the late Alpha Dean was truly Khol’an’s father. While she understood their need for certainty, every doubt felt like another wound to her mate.Just then, the sentinel stationed at her door announced that she had visitors."Luna, Lady Amaya and Nali'a seek audience," his voice rang out.Nali'a and Amaya? They hadn't really spoken much to her since the incident."Please let them in," she responded. Seconds later, the door opened and the sisters walked in."Amaya, Nalia," Rebekah called in acknowledgement, bracing herself for anything. Maybe they finally had the t

AT THE early hours of dawn, Rebekah and Khol'an were still asleep on his bed. She lay curled into a fetal position, her back nestled against Khol'an's chest as he spooned her.She slowly stirred awake when she felt something firm pressing insistently against her backside and frowned, trying to ignore it. But the sensation didn't go away. All of a sudden, it registered onto her mind and her eyes flung open, the remnant sleep vanishing. As realization dawned on her, heat crept onto her cheeks. That wasn't an object. It was... Khol'an."Rebekah..." he drowsily whispered. His deep morning voice vibrated against her ear as his arm tightened, pulling her closer on pure instinct. His hips rolled forward once, pressing that hard, throbbing heat more firmly against her. That sensation sent a jolt through both of them. Then Khol’an froze. His breathing grew rough and uneven as awareness dawned. For the first time in his life, he felt it. Heavy. Aching. Alive. A rush of heat and unfamiliar

REBEKAH stared at Khol'an, not sure what to say in response. She hadn't really thought that extensively about his healing. So far, all she had been focused on was how to minimize his pains and put an end to the repetitive crisis he usually suffered. But now that he mentioned it..."It's..." she paused briefly, thinking her next words through. "I believe it's a possibility.""Really..?" His facial features seemed to relax a bit as quiet hope shone in his eyes. She nodded. "Yes. Though I'm not certain, but I'm quite convinced. Especially now that we know for sure it was the Black Thistle that caused your memory blockage and ruined your ability to walk.""It is also apparent that some of your recently triggered memories were as a short term effect of injesting the healing herbs I secretly administered to you. Your long term cosumption of Black Thistle may have been what ensured you remained..." she trailed off, knowing he understood the rest. There was a bout of silence, before he spoke

WHEN the noise within the royal house became unbearable, Vaelora eventually opened her eyes, squinting as the early morning sun rays shone against her face through the open windows. Of course, she found her head turning to the side, and gave a tiny frown when she didn't see him laying there.

The heavy iron cover on the roof of the lair jingled heavily, and Andronikos shifted with restless energy. Just above the roof, the sentinels pulled at the chains holding the covering in place, until the round iron slid back, leaving a wide hole that gave way to the sky above. Bright sunlig

'High Lord Zayn is missing'. 'High Lord Zayn is missing'. Those words kept ringing in Vaelora's head, and a loud gasp escaped her lips. For a moment, she couldn't make out the words of the other people present at the hall. Her stomach churned painfully, and she suddenly felt the urge to puk
