LOGINVAELORA woke the next morning, feeling sore everywhere. The early morning sun that filtered through the window blinded her eyes, making her close them shut as she hissed in discomfort.
Turning to the other side of the bed, she noted how straight and properly tucked in the sheets looked. As though no one had lain on it the previous night. There was a bit of rowdy noise within the House of Veylor, and Vaelora wondered what could be possibly happening. Forcing herself down Draekon's really comfy bed, she headed towards the window, wanting to know what the noise was all about. Looking out, she saw the numerous carriages and the wedding guests, all ready to leave back to their various provinces and kingdoms. She spotted Draekon as well. Alpha Noir stood beside him as they most certainly thanked the guests for gracing the wedding, and wishing them farewell. That was supposed to be Vaelora's duty, but she could honestly care less. Stepping away from the window, she made her way for the bath chambers. As she brushed her teeth, she stared at herself on the mirror. Her reflection was a stranger. Eyes red, lips swollen, skin pale and exhausted. The worst mistake she had ever made was coming to the Royal House that very day. If she had stayed back home, then Draekon would have married his chosen DragonBorn mate, and she wouldn't have caught Dione in that position that broke her heart up until now. She only wanted to show Dione the scroll that had been sent to her from Vexley Keep that morning. Their final examinations had been graded, and she was the best student amongst the 67th Beta set. She was finally going to reclaim her late father's position as Beta, and she couldn't be happier. Vaelora shook her head off these plaguing thoughts, stepping into the bathtub. After her quick bath, she stepped out of the bath chambers a while later and applied some body oil. Then she threw on one of the few clothes she had been able to move into Draekon's chambers the previous day. Just then, the sentinels stationed at the entrance of her chambers announced Zayn's presence. "His royal highness, prince Zayn is here to see the Luna." "Let him in," Vaelora muttered, hoping they heard her. The next second, the doors opened and Zayn walked in, his eyes going soft the moment he saw her. "Heeyyy..." he whispered, making his way to her. His heart broke to see her that way. Crushed. Vaelora stood and ran into his embrace, her wet hair leaving his robe damp. "How are you?" he asked as soon as they pulled apart, genuinely concerned. "Zayn, I feel like... I'm dyinggg..." She broke into a fit of tears. "You're not," Zayn softly rebuked, gently patting her on the back. Even he, was still yet to get over his shock. Never in his wildest imaginations, had he thought Draekon and Vaelora could be mated to each other. Could be married!! And it had all happened so fast. He had kind of expected Draekon to sever the bond, but was even more surprised when he didn't. "Zayn." Vaelora paused her cries. "Has he returned?" Ever since her rejection, she hadn't set eyes on Dione. Zayn had told her about his fight with Draekon, and also about his disappearance on the morning of their wedding. "Not yet," Zayn replied. "But you shouldn't worry yourself, Dione can handle himself. He probably needs some time to get over the life changing events of this past week." Life changing events indeed. Vaelora looked up at him, so much uncertainty in her eyes. "Maybe I shouldn't have rejected him." Zayn wasn't sure how he felt hearing that. Surely, Vaelora didn't hate Draekon to the extent of wishing to remain with Dione, even after what he did. "It was just a mistake, right? Dione loves me." "No, Lora." Zayn shook his head, feeling somewhat disappointed. "What?" she whispered, gently pulling away from his hold. His reply sounded to her like betrayal. "So you'd rather I married the very person who killed my father? The same person who made my wolf go silent for seven years now?" It wasn't news that Vaelora had lost connection with her werewolf, due to the trauma of losing her father. That was also the reason she had never felt Dione's betrayal all these while. He had clearly been cheating on her for a while now. But she never felt the pain of his betrayal because her wolf was silent. And Dione knew. Now that she thought about it, his constant betrayal of their bond has been a deliberate act. He knew she'd never know he was unfaithful, as long as her wolf remained inaccessible. Fresh fury brewed within her. What the hell was she thinking? Dione deserved her rejection and even more! "That's not it, Lora." Zayn sighed, unsure how to go about this. "You're pretty much married to Draekon already. Nothing else can be done." The place fell silent for a moment, until Vaelora broke it. She wasn't going to back down. She wasn't going to let Draekon and Dione play her like a pawn in their game of politics and infidelity. "What if something can be done?" she whispered. Zayn's brows kissed each other, wondering where she was headed. "It had occured to me to disappear before the wedding," Vaelora whispered, holding Zayn's shocked gaze. "You can't do that anymore, Vaelora," he rushed out, looking disturbed. "Of course, I can't." She sighed. "It would be such a disgrace on my family name. I mean, that's why I didn't do it then. I thought about how my mother had left father and I, and I still hate her for it. I don't want to become her." "I don't want that for you either." "But.... I can still leave this marriage in an honourable way, Zayn. Something that the council would approve." Zayn stared at her in silence, unsure what was going through her mind. "There's always a way. A loophole. I just need to find that loophole. Please help me, Zayn." ******************** It was evening already, and Vaelora hadn't stepped a foot out. Neither had Draekon come into their chambers. Only Marina; one of the maids, had dropped by in the morning and afternoon with breakfast and lunch. Just then, the door opened to reveal Draekon. "Good evening," he muttered, but she said nothing in return. A helpless frown made its way to Vaelora's face as she watched him take off his outer robe and made his way into the bath chambers. After some minutes, he stepped out in just a bath wrap, tied really low around his waist. Almost immediately, Vaelora turned to the other side of the bed. She could only hope that abrupt action of hers hadn't give away the idea that for a slight second, seeing him that way had disoriented her in a way she couldn't really explain. For the next few minutes, she heard shuffles from his end, until he eventually spoke. "I will be leaving for the Shadow Fang Province tomorrow." She felt the other side of the bed dip, indicating he had just laid down. Her skin crawled at the thought that she was now in a helpless position of sharing the same bed as Draekon. "Don't know how long I'll be gone for, but I trust you to stay safe until then," he continued. Vaelora said nothing, only hoping she would have been able to find that loophole before he returned. But for now, she had to endure having him next to her, smelling so... Infuriatingly good.AT HIS request, Rebekah leaned closer and their lips locked in a gentle, passionate kiss. While Khol'an tried to take it slow, Rebekah plunged her tongue into his mouth, tasting the very sweet essence of him.The kiss went on for a while longer, before they broke apart, panting hard. The next thing, she swiftly climbed onto him and carefully straddled his hips, settling her weight gently and making sure she wasn’t causing him any discomfort. Her heart was racing so hard she could barely breathe. At that point, she had forgotten all her discussions with Amaya and Nali'a, and just decided to go with the flow. Moreover she had started differently from what they had taught her and so far, it wasn't bad.Khol'an gazed up at her, quietly stunned by this side of her. She leaned down and captured his lips again, while he groaned softly into her mouth, his hands sliding up her back. She kissed him harder, then began trailing her lips along his jaw and down the column of his neck. When she re
AFTER soaking herself in a scented bath for over an hour, Rebekah finally stepped out in a fluffy bathrobe to meet Amaya and Nali'a patiently waiting for her."You sure took your precuous time," Nali'a teased and she blushed bright red."Don't make her more tensed than she already is, Nalia," Amaya chastised. Rebekah's gaze fell on the two robes laid on her bed, and she instantly preferred the black one. The red robe was just too obvious. She certainly didn't want to enter Khol'an's chambers that night, giving off the idea of what she had come for. "I'm guessing you prefer the black one," Amaya said, and she nodded in agreement. "I like it too." Amaya flashed her a warm smile."Alright, come here." Nali'a took Rebekah's hand and led her to the chair right in front of the large mirror. "I would just help you brush your hair."Rebekah gave a small nod. "Okay." Nali'a loosened her hair from the initial braids they had been in and within minutes, she finished her business. After tha
"I still believe a miracle can happen," Nali'a said."I believe so too," Amaya agreed. "The return of his memories shows that changes are happening. But we don’t know when this particular miracle will come. And time is something we don’t have."As the sisters continued talking, Rebekah remained lost in her own storm of fear and longing."Rebekah?" Nali’a’s voice pulled her back."Sorry," she murmured, unable to hide her troubled expression."Are you okay?" both sisters asked at the same time. She shrugged lightly. "Yes. Just tired from the long day."They seemed to have bought the excuse, even though her mind kept pushing her to say something to them. This wasn't just about their brother, but about Rebekah as well. She desperately needed someone to talk to, but she was uncertain if speaking with them was the best idea. She could visit home that night and speak with her mother maybe?"I think we should let you have your much needed rest then. We could always discuss more tomorrow," Am
REBEKAH walked into her chambers and closed the door behind. Her shoulders were stiff from sitting through long hours of the local council meeting. For the first time, she was showing up as Luna and representing Khol'an, but the situation of things were harsher than she could have imagined. Things had only grown more complicated since Marion’s arrest. She still couldn’t believe some council members were questioning whether the late Alpha Dean was truly Khol’an’s father. While she understood their need for certainty, every doubt felt like another wound to her mate.Just then, the sentinel stationed at her door announced that she had visitors."Luna, Lady Amaya and Nali'a seek audience," his voice rang out.Nali'a and Amaya? They hadn't really spoken much to her since the incident."Please let them in," she responded. Seconds later, the door opened and the sisters walked in."Amaya, Nalia," Rebekah called in acknowledgement, bracing herself for anything. Maybe they finally had the t
AT THE early hours of dawn, Rebekah and Khol'an were still asleep on his bed. She lay curled into a fetal position, her back nestled against Khol'an's chest as he spooned her.She slowly stirred awake when she felt something firm pressing insistently against her backside and frowned, trying to ignore it. But the sensation didn't go away. All of a sudden, it registered onto her mind and her eyes flung open, the remnant sleep vanishing. As realization dawned on her, heat crept onto her cheeks. That wasn't an object. It was... Khol'an."Rebekah..." he drowsily whispered. His deep morning voice vibrated against her ear as his arm tightened, pulling her closer on pure instinct. His hips rolled forward once, pressing that hard, throbbing heat more firmly against her. That sensation sent a jolt through both of them. Then Khol’an froze. His breathing grew rough and uneven as awareness dawned. For the first time in his life, he felt it. Heavy. Aching. Alive. A rush of heat and unfamiliar
REBEKAH stared at Khol'an, not sure what to say in response. She hadn't really thought that extensively about his healing. So far, all she had been focused on was how to minimize his pains and put an end to the repetitive crisis he usually suffered. But now that he mentioned it..."It's..." she paused briefly, thinking her next words through. "I believe it's a possibility.""Really..?" His facial features seemed to relax a bit as quiet hope shone in his eyes. She nodded. "Yes. Though I'm not certain, but I'm quite convinced. Especially now that we know for sure it was the Black Thistle that caused your memory blockage and ruined your ability to walk.""It is also apparent that some of your recently triggered memories were as a short term effect of injesting the healing herbs I secretly administered to you. Your long term cosumption of Black Thistle may have been what ensured you remained..." she trailed off, knowing he understood the rest. There was a bout of silence, before he spoke
FOR THE first time in his life, Draekon felt a certain emotion overwhelm him. One that usually dared not be used as an adjective to describe his emotions. No, he wasn't 'almost' scared. He was very scared. "Vaelora...." He whispered, standing from his seat. Alpha Noir on the other hand, lo
THE HALL vibrated with so much excitement, an effect of the games event during the day. As the nobles and chiefs conversed amongst themselves while eating, Vaelora sat on the opposite end from Draekon, unable to stop stealing glances at him. Draekon was quite aware of how disoriented she was
WHEN the noise within the royal house became unbearable, Vaelora eventually opened her eyes, squinting as the early morning sun rays shone against her face through the open windows. Of course, she found her head turning to the side, and gave a tiny frown when she didn't see him laying there.
The heavy iron cover on the roof of the lair jingled heavily, and Andronikos shifted with restless energy. Just above the roof, the sentinels pulled at the chains holding the covering in place, until the round iron slid back, leaving a wide hole that gave way to the sky above. Bright sunlig
