Luca's POV

I hadn't expected her to accept that quickly but then again, I haven't given a choice to think about it.

She accepted—and that's all that matters.

I stood there like a fool at a loss for words. I had proposed the marriage but standing there made it looks like I had no plans on what to do after she accepted the offer—or maybe because I had thought Sabrina was more tougher and stubborn than someone who would accept my request on my first day of trying.

"It's cool then, we will start making arrangements for everything" I said, sighing in relief.

I'm just a step closer to having Sabrina Ventimiglia as mine again. I missed her, everything about her and I was mad at her and myself for losing her.

She left me, dumped me but that had only kept me going, the only thing that made me come back as the successful CEO of multiple organizations.

"Let me drive you" I suggested and walked to my car, opening the door to the passengers seat for her. A gentlemanly gesture I'd never show anyone except her.

"Thanks Luca but I think I will just take a cab" she said, walking away from me but I wasn't going to let her go.

Watching her leave right in front of me only brings memories about the past and would always makes me think that I'm losing her yet again.

"You don't have a place to go, do you?" I asked. "Your husband just divorced you" I added and even with her back turned to me. I could sense her anger with the way she clutched her bag more tightly into her hand.

"Your Mom is in the hospital, I'm sure you don't want to go to the house you've abandoned for years" I said, and she turned to me in shock. Obviously, I know too much than she must have expected.

"And your best friend is out of the country, where else do you have to go?" I asked and I could see the amused look on her face.

She crossed her hands beneath her boobs and took a step closer to me.

"You know too much Mr. McCorkindale. Have you been stalking me?" She asked and I laughed.

"Stalking is a bit too far fetched, Miss Sabrina. All I did was dig about the lady I would be marrying" I smiled although it wasn't even funny to me and not to her.

"Get in, stay at my place" I said, my voice authoritative.

"I'd rather sleep out in the cold" she spat and I chuckled amusingly.

I watched as she picked her phone and dialed some few numbers, none of them picked. The only one that picked up ended up disappointing her, I could tell from her looks.

"Still saying no?" I asked again.

"Shit! Have I ever had a choice?" She muttered angrily before she threw herself into the seat. I chuckled to myself as I moved to the driver's seat and ignited the car.

I knew Sabrina, she was damn stubborn and getting her to do people's will was never her thing. It made me wonder—How the hell was Haynes able to walk all over her. The only reasonable conclusion I could come to was that she was blinded by love. Love?

It hurts me to think about that but she really did loved Haynes.

**

The car halted in front of the mansion and glancing at Sabrina's face which was lost on the building. I could tell she was marvelled at how huge the mansion was.

"We are here" I said and she cleared her throat.

"You can make yourself feel comfortable in here. Forget about all the troubles of today and take some rest" I said and I sincerely meant that.

"Thank you Luca" she said and I only hummed before I got off the car. She got off too and just as I walked in expecting her to follow behind, I realized she haven't taken a step away from the car. I turned, raising a brow as I wondered what was wrong.

"Why are you helping me Luca?" She asked and I chuckled. She already agreed to taking my help and getting into a marriage with me but it looked like she's still having doubts about it.

"I mean...you could easily get any girl you want to do your bidding, why me?" She asked and I could see it clearly in her eyes—fear....panic.

She was becoming afraid of me, like I was intending to hurt her. It made me chuckle.

"You know better the reason why I chose you over any other girl" I smirked and walked into the house.

I took my jacket off and threw it to the sofa. Claire hurried over and welcomed me. Her brows furrowed with curiosity when she saw Sabrina walk in.

"Quickly prepare dinner Claire" I instructed.

"Yes, Mr. McCorkindale" she hurried into the kitchen.

My gaze went round the room until it landed on Evelyn, she bowed in greetings when our eyes met.

"Show her to the best room available and prepare a bath for her, show her to the dining table afterwards" I said, my head nudging at Sabrina who was still taking the whole decor in.

Evelyn nodded and I walked upstairs leaving Sabrina in her care.

Evelyn and Claire—The two maids I live with.

**

The dining table was set. I sat down in a casual T-shirt and a denim. Sabrina wore an oversized pajamas which I presume belonged to Evelyn. Pasta with steak.

It wasn't bad for dinner.

I watched Sabrina as she ate and cut the steak gracefully. She knew I was staring and I could tell she was uncomfortable with my glare but I wasn't ready to back down.

Her phone pinged and she took a glance at it. A moment later, she dropped the phone and the fork angrily. Hell! That scared me.

She looked up at me, her gaze dripping with venom.

"When are we getting married?" What? That was unexpected.

"What??" I exclaimed. "You look so eager to get married to me" I teased and she gulped.

"I thought that was a necessary question" she defended.

"Well, when do you want us to get married?" I asked.

"This week?" She said and I mouthed a wow.

Sabrina is not the type who would want to be submissive to me, and she's also not the type that would be so eager to get married to me, not the Sabrina that doesn't even want me around her.

Something just triggered her. The message she received a moment earlier.

Haynes Chadwick—That must be him.

  • BACK WITH MY EX: He Promised To Be Better   Mission Accomplished

Author's POV. ~The next day~Sabrina sat in her company's cafeteria, her legs crossed, one of her arms resting on the chair beside her. She was waiting for her client who Tina had set up a meeting with. “Goddamn, she's getting late…” Sabrina muttered, her gaze turning to her wristwatch. The meeting was scheduled to be by twelve noon. But half an hour had passed since then. The door to the cafeteria creaked open, and Sabrina, hoping it was who she was expecting, turned to look. It was yet another customer who had come to dine, not Margaret. Frustration was already creeping into Sabrina's whole body, but she decided to be patient. Five more minutes….Ten…Twenty….Then she arrived. She walked in elegantly like she owned the place, a smile plastered on her face. The way Sabrina was sitting didn't change because of her presence, she only watched as she settled down into the chair. “I'm sorry I kept you waiting. I was caught up with training some newbies at the company” she said

  • BACK WITH MY EX: He Promised To Be Better   Crystal Clear Dimension

Sabrina's POV. I didn't let the woman walk out before I walked back in, a huge smile on my face. “Did I take long?” I asked, grabbing her attention. She was still in front of the safe and she stepped back, startled. Her hand clicked the red button on her phone screen, ending the call and I acted like I didn't notice. I asked. “Do you still want to look around more?” “No, that's enough. Thank you” She stepped out and I followed behind her. “You've done enough, Miss Sabrina.” Christ, it's Mrs. McCorkindale, but I didn't correct her again. “You should get back to your office, I wouldn't want to stress you” “Of course, you should be able to find your way from here” I smiled. “I'll reach out to you concerning more details on the dresses you requested for” I turned back and walked elegantly back to my office. Tina followed me in and the moment I got in, I groaned.“That little parasite!” I seethed. “Did she think…..” *She could play me?* But I didn't voice the rest of the words o

  • BACK WITH MY EX: He Promised To Be Better   The Suspicious Client

Sabrina's POV. I didn't let it show on my face that I recognized her, but I knew without a doubt that her presence here has something to do with Haynes. With a welcoming smile, I said. “ Yes, let's talk business” “This way to the office” Tina stepped in, ushering her down into the company towards the elevator. It took a few minutes before we got into my office. I sat behind the desk, swirling the chair in a slow circling motion and the woman sat across from me. The moment she settled down, I noticed her looking around everywhere like she was trying to mark a territory. I said nothing. But only watched. Suddenly, her gaze returned to me. “I'll need uniform dresses for my company” “I run a modelling company, and we have a show coming up.” She stretched her hand to me. Inside it was a business card I took from her without hesitation. “The models need to be in matching dresses” I was still listening to her, though my face was now fixed on the card in my hand. I examined it, trie

  • BACK WITH MY EX: He Promised To Be Better   Lilith Gets Discharged

Chapter 118Sabrina's POV. It's the day Lilith gets discharged. I finished up everything I needed to do within an hour, and called Lilith before I left the house. “Hey, sister-in-law,” she called. “I'll take that as good morning” I said with a rushed tone. “Anything you'd like me to bring to the hospital?” “Wait…. You are willing to change this dress?” “Of course” I responded casually. “Since the only princess of the McCorkindales is complaining, what choice do I have?” For a moment, she cooed, not expecting that. I rolled my eyes even though she couldn't see them. She wasn't coming from an overseas trip, but a goddamn fucking hospital ward. Yet, she wants to be dolled up so nicely like she was never sick. “Get me a designer dress, the brand doesn't matter” she said. “A bouquet of flower, and my favorite takeout meal” I was getting angry, or rather, frustrated. How can she ask for a designer cloth because she's getting discharged? A bouquet? Acceptable. And the takeout meal…

  • BACK WITH MY EX: He Promised To Be Better   Motherly Love

Lilith's POV. Lilith was the first to laugh. “What had suddenly gotten into you?” She asked. “Suddenly interested in gists?” I only smiled. They kept talking and I realized they were talking about hospitals. How painful injections could be, and how much it hurts to see their loved ones sick on the bed. The moment they mentioned that, my eyes moved to Luca. Mom noticed before I could stare at him for long. “He'll be fine, sweetheart” “Of course” he'll be fine. Two hours later, it was already late. I wanted to escort Mom, at least until she got a cab, but when she told me she was going to head home with me, I blinked. “I'll be staying here overnight. You can head home, I promise to pay you a visit by weekend” The look on Mom's face told me she was going to decline, but before she could even talk, Lilith spoke. “You don't need to stay, you've barely slept for three days, I'll take care of him tonight” No. Not allowing that. “I’ll—” Mom's voice cut mine off before my words co

  • BACK WITH MY EX: He Promised To Be Better   Digging Info

Sabrina's POV. “Change into this. It's the best cloth I think would suit you from all of the dresses I have” I laid the dress bare in front of Lilith who stared at it with an expressionless face. I folded her clothes neatly and tucked it into the bag I had brought. “This looks old fashioned” she bickered. I paused and for a moment, rolled my eyes. “You heard me, Lilith. I found you the best I could find” “You could have gotten a new dress. Or bring me one of your gala dresses” she said. Was she being serious right now? Yes, and she was being ungrateful. Two days had passed. Lilith had gotten much better, and according to the doctor and her health chart, she could get discharged tomorrow. I brought her my gown, since there was none of her clothes at my place and the McCorkindale’s mansion was too far to reach. I mean, why go through the hassle when she could just fit into my dresses to make it through the lobby of the hospital into the car that would drop her right into her gr
