LOGINSabrina's POV
"You can get back with your ex—why can't I get back with mine?" I wondered what I was thinking when I said that. I just wanted Haynes to feel hurt too, even if it was just once but as I stared into his eyes, seeing right through his soul, he didn't regret his actions. He hadn't even flinch when I kissed another man. He never cared about me and all he wanted was to get rid of me.
That hurts me but I could only walk away to hide my pain.
Luca McCorkindale! Of all people, why did he have to be here? Why did he have to kiss me? Everything felt like it was working against me. To think that he'd reappear in my life...only to cause more distrust in a marriage that had just broken up. He's my past and although something in me wanted to keep him, another doesn't want him back in my life.
"Let me drive you" His voice came again, low, musky and soothing but I wasn't going to fall for it, not again. His hands gestured towards a red Lamborghini at the side but I didn't care about it.
"Stay clear from me Luca! I don't want you in my life!" I snapped, and although I realized immediately after saying it that it might sound harsh, I didn't regret it because I meant those words. Just because my husband is getting back with his ex doesn't mean I should also get back with mine.
He was stunned and I only turned, walking away. Hoping that would be the last time I would see him. My heart burned, but I held my chin upright. These little things shouldn't be the ones to break me, I had to stay strong.
I reached my car but just as I opened the door, Haynes stepped in front of me shoving me back. I almost fell and it took everything in me to hold my stand.
"My car keys," He demanded. "Nothing belongs to you in my house" Haynes said.
I exhaled slowly, clutching more tightly onto the keys before I handed them over.
"I hope this will be the last time I will see you Sabrina Ventimiglia. I'm off to pick Camilla up at the airport, she's back to take the place that had always belonged to her" Haynes said, his eyes devoid of emotions. He readjusted his tie and zoomed out of sight.
Again, his words hit harder than I would have expected.
Back to take her place?? He said it as though I was a stand-in for his ex who is coming back. Not that we both wanted the marriage, but I tried my best to make it work only to be left shattered.
"So what do you say now??" His voice made me turn in terror as I moved away from him.
He won't bite! He can't hurt you!
I tried to reassure myself but I just couldn't stop creating that distance between us—a line I didn't want him to cross.
"Still not going to let me drive you??" He asked, his gaze locking with mine. Those dark ocean eyes, they had always been unreadable but now there was something different about them—they now holds something stronger. Power! Determination! Authority!
Surely, I had no intention of getting in that car and from the way his eyes flickered, I'm sure he knew it too. I'd drawn that line between us already and I don't want to be the one to break it.
"What do you want Luca? Can't you just stay away from me??" I said, the weight of the day crashing on me. In all the twenty six years of my life, I'm sure today is the day—the day I've been the most miserable and here he was, making it more unbearable.
"You need my help, don't you?" Luca said, closing in on the gap between us.
I moved back. "I never came to you for help, so leave"
"We have a score to settle, don't we??" His gaze darkened. How nice would it be seeing your name truly go down the mud. It'd be exhilarating, Rina" He chuckled and my hands curled into fists. They are just the same, ridiculing and making me miserable. What made me think Luca McCorkindale would be different.
"To hell with your help, Luca!" I spat, flipping him off. I tried walking away but he pulled me back.
"Would you come to me for help only when he creates another scandal??" Luca scoffed and I gulped, blinking my eyes. Haynes had truly got another thing on me, although Luca is included, he can easily buy his way out of it, he's the CEO of Luca Airline & Transportation afterall. I needed someone to help me out and here he was, offering me help but I was confused because I clearly won't accept it.
I jerked his hand away, staring into his eyes like a kid who needed sympathy.
"Why do you want to help me? We were done two years ago" I said, reminding him once again that I'm nothing but his ex.
Luca sighed. "Do you want my help? Just a yes or no would do"
I had thought about it for a while and I was able to come to a conclusion. Right now, I was like a beggar who had no choices—A beggar who can't be a chooser.
"Help me Luca. Help me out" I whispered.
He smirked. "What else do you want?? Don't you want to revenge??"
I didn't need to think about it. I knew the answer.
I surely want revenge on Haynes. I already told him—THIS ISN'T OVER.
"Can you get that for me too??" My voice trembled.
"I can Rina. We both can" Luca said, his words soothing and the way my name rolled out of his mouth getting into my head.
Now isn't the time for these thoughts, Sabrina!!
"In return—"
I knew it would come with a price. My heart hammered in my chest as anticipation clawed at me.
"In return, I want marriage" His voice steady and unwavering. "Marry me Sabrina, let me claim you—away from him" Luca said.
Marriage. Again. A word I was starting to dread.
Trusting Luca felt like the only choice I had.
I could trust Luca, better than I would ever trust Haynes
"Deal" The word slipped smoothly past my lips that I began to doubt my acceptance.
Won't I regret this?
But at the moment, everything in me just wanted to trust Luca.
Chapter 118Sabrina's POV. It's the day Lilith gets discharged. I finished up everything I needed to do within an hour, and called Lilith before I left the house. “Hey, sister-in-law,” she called. “I'll take that as good morning” I said with a rushed tone. “Anything you'd like me to bring to the hospital?” “Wait…. You are willing to change this dress?” “Of course” I responded casually. “Since the only princess of the McCorkindales is complaining, what choice do I have?” For a moment, she cooed, not expecting that. I rolled my eyes even though she couldn't see them. She wasn't coming from an overseas trip, but a goddamn fucking hospital ward. Yet, she wants to be dolled up so nicely like she was never sick. “Get me a designer dress, the brand doesn't matter” she said. “A bouquet of flower, and my favorite takeout meal” I was getting angry, or rather, frustrated. How can she ask for a designer cloth because she's getting discharged? A bouquet? Acceptable. And the takeout meal…
Lilith's POV. Lilith was the first to laugh. “What had suddenly gotten into you?” She asked. “Suddenly interested in gists?” I only smiled. They kept talking and I realized they were talking about hospitals. How painful injections could be, and how much it hurts to see their loved ones sick on the bed. The moment they mentioned that, my eyes moved to Luca. Mom noticed before I could stare at him for long. “He'll be fine, sweetheart” “Of course” he'll be fine. Two hours later, it was already late. I wanted to escort Mom, at least until she got a cab, but when she told me she was going to head home with me, I blinked. “I'll be staying here overnight. You can head home, I promise to pay you a visit by weekend” The look on Mom's face told me she was going to decline, but before she could even talk, Lilith spoke. “You don't need to stay, you've barely slept for three days, I'll take care of him tonight” No. Not allowing that. “I’ll—” Mom's voice cut mine off before my words co
Sabrina's POV. “Change into this. It's the best cloth I think would suit you from all of the dresses I have” I laid the dress bare in front of Lilith who stared at it with an expressionless face. I folded her clothes neatly and tucked it into the bag I had brought. “This looks old fashioned” she bickered. I paused and for a moment, rolled my eyes. “You heard me, Lilith. I found you the best I could find” “You could have gotten a new dress. Or bring me one of your gala dresses” she said. Was she being serious right now? Yes, and she was being ungrateful. Two days had passed. Lilith had gotten much better, and according to the doctor and her health chart, she could get discharged tomorrow. I brought her my gown, since there was none of her clothes at my place and the McCorkindale’s mansion was too far to reach. I mean, why go through the hassle when she could just fit into my dresses to make it through the lobby of the hospital into the car that would drop her right into her gr
Author's POV. "I enjoyed the show you put up, Haynes. However, I'd rate it 40 over 100" Haynes didn't need to check the voice again to know who was speaking on the line, he knew it was undoubtedly Camilla. He was still angry to know that Luca had survived, and Sabrina had played him by taking the bitch along too. He should have just killed the both of them right there, that was the mistake he made. Haynes grabbed his name plate, tightening his grip around it as it looked like he was going to crush the poor thing if he had the strength. "You don't want me to take out my anger on you, do you?" Haynes' voice was dark, his jaws gritted. Camilla laughed. She swirled the chair around as she held the phone to her ears, staying silent for a moment. For a split second, she wondered why Haynes didn't hang up immediately, but she knew he'd do exactly that if she decided to ask. "You failed woefully," Camilla continued. "I mean....." Her words were expressed with disgust. "Who tried to
Chapter 114Sabrina’s POVMom walked me out when I was ready to leave. Getting into a cab, I returned to the hospital. The hospital still reeks of medications and blood. The air held the stench of sweat from different bodies, but I walked through them all. I headed to the VIP ward where my family were admitted; Lilith and Luca.Sam was standing outside, his eyes not blinking from the spot where he had his gaze fixed on. But even with that, I could tell he could see me approach. His eyes were alert, as well as his instincts. “Welcome, ma’am” he greeted, his gaze flicking to me for a second. I nodded my head, forcing a small smile to my lips. I didn't give a response, but I was sure the smile delivered the message. I walked into the ward, and my gaze landed on Lilith first. Her body just moved. Not just her body, she was sitting up on the bed all by herself with a groan. My eyes widened a bit in surprise. “Lilith!” I called softly and rushed over to her. “Are you fine? Is it hur
Sabrina's POV“Mom, how are you doing?” My voice was low, but I tried not to show the tiredness in my tone. “I heard about what happened to your husband. I'm so sorry” she said. News travels far. Of course, it would be when a lot of people had been made to watch him helpless on the main road before Sam got him out of that road. “He’ll be fine Mom, don't get worried” I assured. I know my Mom, she might freak out once she gets to know he wouldn't be waking up anytime soon. Mom and I talked about some other things, like her wanting to bring me dinner in the hospital. She had been discharged, has an apartment she's living in now, and she's totally fine like the doctor had said. A few minutes later, we were going to hang up. That moment, I recalled something. My father. I needed to clear everything up. Haynes, the thought about my dad, the need to find him, every damn crisis that needs to be taken care of, everything….“Mom, can I visit today? I want to hear about Dad if you are r
Luca's POV My gaze was still fixed on the new guests, waiting for them to speak. Dad stepped up, his voice sharp. “No, Luca. We came here to get him” he said. “We warned him not to come,” he said. I scoffed. “But the deed is done. A driver is badly hurt, fighting for his life, Grandpa is in the h
