LOGINAshina pov
The heavy doors slammed shut behind me as my heart pound against my ribs.
We were alone.
I took an instinctive step backward but Draven stood near the bed, his broad shoulders tense, his silver eyes fixed on me with unsettling calm.
He wasn't the beast anymore, He was the man.
The Rogue Alpha King and somehow that frightened me even more as He started walking toward me.
Slowly and Deliberately as Every step made my pulse race faster.
"Don't come any closer," I warned, forcing my voice to stay steady but He didn't stop.
"I said don't."
"I make the rules here Sunshine ." His deep voice was calm enough to send a chill down my spine as my back hit the wooden door.
There was nowhere left to go. He stopped only inches away towering over me as his silver eyes searched my face before one hand slowly reached up, brushing a loose strand of hair away from my eyes.
I jerked my head away.
"Don't touch me." I voiced as his brow lifted.
"Are you afraid of me?" My terrified eyes met his gaze without blinking.
"No! I hate you." something that looked almost like amusement crossed his face without thinking, I drove my fist into his stomach.
He grunted as he shifted back just enough to buy me time to escape.
I shoved him with every strength I had before turning toward the door as I immediately locked the slid into place.
My chest rose and it fell violently for one heartbeat
BANG!
His fist slammed into the door as the wood shook.
"Ashina." His voice came from the other side.
"Open the goddamn door."
"No!"
"You've got five seconds." I spun around, searching the room but their was no second exit and no place to hide. I saw a toilet window as hope surged through me.
I rushed toward it and threw it open as the cold air hit my face. The drop made my stomach twist, behind me the door splintered wide open I immediately climbed onto the ledge and jumped.
My feet landed on the sloping kitchen roof as I almost slipped immediately a terrified gasp escaped me as my fingers caught the edge.
Slowly and Carefully I pulled myself back up as my entire body trembled because one wrong move and I'd fall.
I crawled across the roof before climbing onto a lower section of the castle the front gate wasn't far.
Freedom atlast!
I jumped to the ground and ran as my bare feet pounded across the grass, My lungs gasped for air.
I Didn't stop nor did I look back.
The gates were right there as I glanced over my shoulder but I didn't see Draven
A small smile touched my lips.
Maybe I'd actually escaped.
I turned forward as I collided with something solid as strong hands caught me before I fell.
My heart stopped as I slowly looked up.
Draven?
He stood there as though he'd never moved completely calm as a faint smirk curved his lips.
"You can run," he said quietly.
"But you can't out run me." before I could react, he lifted me effortlessly over his shoulder.
"No!" I kicked and struggled.
"Put me down!" I pounded against his back but He didn't even slow down.
"You done?"
"Never!" I twisted hard, trying to break free as He only tightened his grip just enough to stop me without hurting me.
"You've got spirit and quit some Nerves " he muttered.
"I'll never stop fighting you." I shouted.
"I'd be disappointed if you did." His answer caught me off guard as I seized the moment, twisting again as I slipped free.
I barely managed two steps before his hand caught my wrist with one swift pull, I stumbled backward onto the grass as pain shot through my side.
I couldn't get up as he crouched in front of me, his grip remained firm but controlled as his silver eyes locked onto mine."You've had every chance to cooperate."
"I don't belong here you Pysopath! ."
"You belong wherever I choose." His voice remained steady.
"And tonight , you're under my protection." he said as I stared at him.
Protection?
Was he serious?
"I don't need protecting."
"No." His gaze drifted briefly to the bruises around my neck.
"You needed it long before you arrived here." for a second neither of us spoke.
The anger in his eyes softened into something I couldn't understand as he slowly closed his eyes. I could feel the ragging storm in him as a strained breath escaped him.
"Damn it..." When he opened them again his eyes began to darken. He looked at me as his jaw clenched.
"Get inside." His voice changed as It became rougher and more dangerous.
"Now?" I hesitated.
"What are you waiting for?" he barked as the air around him suddenly felt heavier.
A low growl rumbled deep in his chest as I froze.
The man standing before me was disappearing and something far more terrifying was taking his place.
Draven's POVPain woke me before the sunlight did not the sharp kind that kind had become familiar years ago. This was the dull ache that settled beneath my ribs after every battle, a constant reminder that no matter how many enemies I defeated, the one living inside me never truly lost.I opened my eyes to the familiar ceiling of infirmary someone had cleaned the blood from my armor.I pushed myself upright as a dull pull shot through my side where the wound had been stitched outside the room, I could hear the castle waking as boots echoed across the corridors.I reached for the bandages wrapped around my ribs someone had changed them recently. The memory returned before I could stop it as a pair of careful hands fingers brushing against my shoulder. My hand froze.Warm? I frowned. I had never felt warm not in years ever since the curse claimed me, I couldn't feel anyone's touch but for one brief moment I had actually felt her.I shut my eyes."Ridiculous." It was because the curse ha
Ashina's POVI hated quiet mornings. They gave my mind too much freedom. And my mind had a terrible habit of wandering to places I didn't want it to go.I rested my chin on the windowsill, staring at the blanket of snow covering Blackthorn Castle. The world outside looked peaceful.Funny how the world could look so calm while your head felt like a battlefield.I sighed."I wonder how Father is doing..." The thought slipped into my head so naturally that I didn't even realize I was thinking about him until a bitter laugh escaped my lips."Really, Ashina?" I shook my head at myself."After everything... you're still worrying about him?" I should have known better by now father had never once sat awake wondering if I'd eaten. He had never wondered if I was cold or lonely yet here I was wondering if he remembered I was still alive."No." I pushed myself away from the window."Stop it." My voice sounded firmer than I felt."He made his choice." So why couldn't I make mine? Why can I stop
Draven's POV"The western border has been breached, My King." The words barely left the scout's mouth before the war horn echoed across the Rogue Territory as its a deep call rolled through the mountains.Every rogue understood what it meant war. I walked onto the castle balcony overlooking the training grounds. Hundreds of rogues were already gathering below, their eyes burning with determination. The Rogue Territory had a standing arm because Every rogue was a warrior.Every child born within these mountains learned to hunt before they learned to read that was how we had survived when every neighboring kingdom called us savages.Glenn stopped beside me."They crossed the Black Ravine.""How many?""Enough to start a war." A cold smile touched my lips."Then let's finish it." Without another word, I leaped from the balcony halfway down, my bones shifted as Silver fur burst across my body within seconds, my massive wolf landed effortlessly on the stone below around me hundreds of w
Ashina pov The castle wasn't silent. It only pretended to be. I stood in the doorway of my chamber, my fingers tightening around the wooden frame as two women dragged a dead body leaving a thin trail of crimson behind them. My stomach twisted as one of the women caught me staring."You'll get used to it." Used to it? I watched them disappear around the corner only then did I realize where I truly was.The Rogue Territory, Growing up, the women in my old pack loved gossip. Whenever Mother entertained guests for afternoon tea, they whispered about the Rogue Alpha King. They called him a butcher, a monster. A man whose kingdom survived because fear ruled it. I had always believed they exaggerated. Standing here... I realized they hadn't exaggerated enough. The rumors hadn't even scratched the surface."Enjoying the view?" The deep voice made me jump as I turned as Draven stood at the end of the corridor, dressed entirely in black as his silver eyes fixed on me. "I wasn't." He walke
Ashina's POVThe morning after my failed escape, the castle felt colder not because of the weather but because of him. I hadn't seen Draven since the curse had nearly consumed him the previous night and part of me hoped I wouldn't.The other part knew that was impossible.A maid silently handed me a dark blue dress before lowering her head."The King requests your presence." Requests It sounded polite but we both knew it wasn't.I followed two guards through endless stone corridors until enormous double doors came into view as the doors opened. My footsteps faltered as dozens of warriors lined both sides of the room, their heads bowed. Ministers stood in silence while several prisoners knelt in the center of the hall, their hands bound behind their backs. As Draven sat on the throne his posture was relaxed as he watched the prisoners with unreadable silver eyes.He looked Bored and obviously Angry as usual.A guard shoved me forward."My King, Your Luna is here ." His gaze shifted to
